The proposed project uses a Raspberry Pi microcontroller to prevent crop losses caused by animals like dog, wild pigs, and monkeys. These animals pose a significant threat to farmers, leading to financial losses. This project offers an innovative solution, as it is impractical to physically secure entire fields or have farmers present at all times. Raspberry Pi 4 and the Raspberry Pi Camera Module 2 NoIR havebeen used in this project, to captures images of intruding animals, sends notifications to users, and triggers an alarm. The model obtained an accuracy of 95% for intruder detection. The goal is to provide timely alerts, allowing farmers to respond quickly and minimize crop damage, effectively addressing wildlife-induced agricultural losses. © 2024 IEEE.

Microservices have been seen as a solution to open systems, within which microservices can behave arbitrarily. This requires the system to have strong trust management. However, existing microservices trust models cannot fully support open systems. In this paper, we propose a reputation-based trust model designed for open microservices that groups similar microservices within the same "similarity domain" and includes a trust bootstrapping process and a comprehensive trust computation method. Our proposal introduces a new concept called "trust balancing" to assure that all microservices can fairly be incorporated into the operation of the system. The design of the evaluation plan is also introduced to demonstrate the suitability of the proposed model to open microservice systems. © 2024 by SCITEPRESS – Science and technology Publications, Lda.

Finite control set model predictive control (MPC) can be computationally intensive especially when scaled up for more complicated converters since each state variable in the system is evaluated for all possible switching configurations. Multi-objective optimization of the cost function adds to the complexity of MPC. Much of the MPC literature in power electronics relies on expensive rapid prototyping (RP) platforms (RPP) such as dSPACE and OPAL RT. This paper aims to bridge the gap between expensive RPP and low-cost MCUs by exploring the feasibility of rapid prototyping (RP) on the low-cost F28379D launchpad. This paper is aimed toward the practitioner or researcher who desires to reduce to practice the MPC methods developed on a RPP to a lower-cost embedded controller. The suitability of a low-cost Texas Instrument (TI) launchpad to perform the same rapid-prototyping functions needed for MPC regulator development in a full-featured, high-end RPP is discussed. Experimental results using the dSPACE 1006 and the F28379D Launchpad showing steady-state performance and dynamic response are illustrated and compared. Comparative results show the F28379D launchpad and dSPACE 1006 offer similar performance markers. © 2023 IEEE.

DDFAD: Dataset Distillation Framework for Audio Data

Deep neural networks (DNNs) have achieved significant success in numerous applications. The remarkable performance of DNNs is largely attributed to the availability of massive, high-quality training datasets. However, processing such massive training data requires huge computational and storage resources. Dataset distillation is a promising solution to this problem, offering the capability to compress a large dataset into a smaller distilled dataset. The model trained on the distilled dataset can achieve comparable performance to the model trained on the whole dataset. While dataset distillation has been demonstrated in image data, none have explored dataset distillation for audio data. In this work, for the first time, we propose a Dataset Distillation Framework for Audio Data (DDFAD). Specifically, we first propose the Fused Differential MFCC (FD-MFCC) as extracted features for audio data. After that, the FD-MFCC is distilled through the matching training trajectory distillation method. Finally, we propose an audio signal reconstruction algorithm based on the Griffin-Lim Algorithm to reconstruct the audio signal from the distilled FD-MFCC. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of DDFAD on various audio datasets. In addition, we show that DDFAD has promising application prospects in many applications, such as continual learning and neural architecture search. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. The growth in penetration of renewable energy sources leads to reduction in the number of grid-tied dis-patchable synchronous generators. Since the contributions of non-dispatchable, renewable energy-based generators to both grid inertia and grid frequency controllability are significantly small, it becomes important to secure sufficient operational margins in the operation scheduling phase. This paper presents a framework that integrates constraints for the inertial response and the primary frequency control to the unit commitment and economic load dispatch (UC-ELD) problem. The authors' proposal contributes cooperative operations of dispatchable and non-dispatchable generators in the levels of inertial and primary responses although the UC-ELD is a framework for operations in longer period. Through numerical simulations and discussion on their results, the validity of the authors' proposal is verified. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper introduces an Improved RC6(IRC6)cipher for data encryption based on data-dependent *** proposed scheme is designed with the potential of meeting the needs of the Advanced Encryption Standard(AES).Four parameters are used to characterize the proposed *** parameters are the size of the word(w)in bits,the number of rounds(r),the length of the secret key(b)in bytes,and the size of the block(L)in *** main feature of IRC6 is the variable number of working registers instead of just four registers as in RC6,resulting in a variable block size for plaintext and *** IRC6 cipher is designed to improve the robustness against attacks by increasing the diffusion for each round and providing greater security with fewer *** effectiveness of the proposed IRC6 scheme is verified against theoretical *** proposed IRC6 scheme depends on full diffusion and confusion mechanisms regardless of the utilized block *** proposed IRC6 scheme saves 70%of the encryption time and 64%of the decryption time of *** simulation results prove that the IRC6 achieves a better encryption/decryption time compared to the ***,the proposed IRC6 is anticipated to fulfill the market needs and system security requirements.

In this paper, an age of information (AoI)-aware joint design framework of sampling, transmission, computation, and control is considered for industrial cyber-physical systems. To enhance the control performance, we investigate an edge-enabled control scheme, which allows a physical entity to select its sampling adaptively and processing strategies based on de-mand. By analyzing the impact of sampling and short-packet decoding errors, and the coupling relationship between control accuracy and AoI, the AoI -aware control metric is established. Subsequently, we formulate a joint sampling time, computation offloading, and bandwidth allocation optimization problem to minimize the system's control and energy costs. To tackle the formulated NP-hard problem, we develop a BCD-based algorithm leveraging convex and game theories to obtain a joint optimization strategy in an iterative manner. Finally, the performance of the proposed edge-enabled control scheme is verified in the simulation results.
