This paper introduces a novel design for a single-layer reflectarray antenna capable of dual resonance operation specifically targeted for 28/38 GHz 5G communication systems. The design incorporates a rectangular ring-loaded patch integrated into a conventional microstrip reflectarray, enabling the antenna to achieve dual resonance at the desired frequencies. Furthermore, a comprehensive parametric study was conducted to investigate the impact of significant dimensions within the design and characterization of different material properties. The study involved thorough analysis using a commercially available CST computer model. The fabricated design configurations were implemented on a substrate with a thickness of 0.51 mm, specifically using Rogers Duroid 5880 material. The simulated results indicate that the proposed unit cell element resonates at two different frequencies (28/38 GHz) and obtained promising return loss S(1,1) and reflection phase that can be used in designing a reflectarray antenna design for future communication systems.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) assistance glove represents a valuable tool for monitoring chest compressions during CPR, which is crucial for effective cardiac arrest response. By incorporating an MPU6050 accelerometer sensor and a force sensing resistor, the glove enables accurate measurement of the chest compression rate and force exerted. Preliminary testing demonstrated the glove's effectiveness in simulating chest compressions, with data collected and transmitted wirelessly to MATLAB software. Manual counting and MATLAB analysis validated the accuracy of compression rate calculations, while force sensing resistor voltage readings provided insights into the force exerted during compressions. These results highlight the glove's potential to significantly enhance the precision and quality of CPR administration, improving outcomes for cardiac arrest patients. © 2023 IEEE.

The diagnosis of common diseases, in which people suffer from several bad health conditions, is a complex medical challenge. This study investigated the use of machine learning methods combined with the Chi-square feature selection technique to improve the accuracy and efficiency of comorbidity diseases diagnosis. Using various decision trees of machine learning algorithms, random forest, Gradient Boost, AdaBoost, Bagging, and extra trees, this research aimed to improve the identification and prediction of comorbid conditions and ultimately advance early detection and treatment strategies. Using the selection of Chi-Square features helped give priority to the most relevant attributes, reduce noise, and refine the models. The results showed that both the AdaBoost and Gradient Boost algorithms obtained an accuracy rate of 91.33%, confirming their efficacy in comorbidity diseases diagnosis. However, it is essential to ensure their reliability and efficacy in the real clinical environment, including the practical implementation and validation of these methods, to improve patient care and medical decisions. © 2023 IEEE.

The role of learning media greatly supports the learning process, increasing motivation and interest in the process. Learning media can also be a place to improve competence optimally through bootcamp training menus and the like with more specific training objectives. The main objective of this study is to develop a gamification-based website to enhance students' preparedness for their Final Competency Test by tackling challenges in comprehending programming absent practical experience. The learning method implemented in this website is case-based learning that integrates dynamic coding activities. The research method uses the Plomp approach with 3 main stages, namely preliminary research, prototyping, and assessment stage. The trial of the gamification website began with media and content validation followed by small group testing and large group testing. Validation by media and material experts led to the execution of small group trials (95.7%) and large group trials (91.7%), producing exceptionally positive outcomes. The results of the small group test with 12 respondents produced a very suitable value with a score of 95.7 and the large group test with 27 respondents produced a score of 9 1. 7 % with very suitable criteria. This indicates that the web-based platform is highly viable for assisting vocational students in acquiring software development skills, enhancing their preparedness for practical IT positions such as software developers and system analysts. Subsequent study involved the incorporation of gamification, such as computer-supported collaborative learning. © 2024 IEEE.

Pick-and-place robots are used in the manufacturing industry. This paper will focus on one of the most used functionalities in the industry. In addition, it will focus on this functionality and how to achieve more precision with the least cost. The robot is used for packaging, picking, placing factory jobs, and inspection. This paper is focusing on the design of the linear pick-and-place robot. The target of this paper is to tackle the design, construction, control, and analysis of the linear pick-and-place robot. The main target of this paper is to find the best design and the most cost-effective way to develop it. It will be done by comparing several delta robots designs to find which one will be the most economical. This paper proposes a novel hybridization of two metaheuristic algorithms to solve the real-parameter single objective numerical optimization problems. The proposed Three-stage Cyclic Hybrid SFS and L-SHADE (3-sCHSL) algorithm integrates the high-level interactions of Stochastic Fractal Search (SFS) and L-SHADE algorithms in a single framework. Furthermore, a guided control population initialization strategy is injected in 3-sCHSL to address the stagnation and diversity loss issues as the evolution process evolves. The performance of the proposed algorithm is tested under different complexity levels of different transformations of the CEC 2021 benchmark suite with dimension 20. The experimental results demonstrated the efficiency and competitiveness of the proposed algorithm against recent state-of-the-art algorithms. In addition, 3-sCHSL achieved a superior performance when evaluating two engineering design problems. © 2023 IEEE.

In the edge computing system, split learning (SL) is an emerging distributed learning approach that allows mobile users (MUs) and edge nodes (ENs) to train the model together without sharing the raw data of the MU. Although MU can preserve its privacy in SL, attacks on the intermediate data at the cut layer for model training can still lead to privacy leakage, which prevents privacy-sensitive MUs from participating in training. Therefore, it is important to implement an effective incentive mechanism to motivate MUs to join SL while preserving their privacy. In this work, from the perspective of maximizing the utility of edge service provider (ESP) while considering the privacy-sensitivity of different MUs, the incentive problem of ESP and MUs is transformed into the utility optimization problem, and an incentive mechanism based on the differential privacy (DP) and contract theory is established to model the interactions between the MUs and EN. The obtained convex optimization problem is obtained through the mathematical derivations, and the optimal contract is presented by solving this problem. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed privacy preserved incentive mechanism. © 2024 IEEE.

This article presents a compact multi-band microstrip patch antenna designed for 5G, Ku, and K-band applications. The antenna operates at 3.5 GHz and 15.6 GHz, supporting 5G communications (3.3–3.6 GHz) and satellite applications (15.6–20 GHz). Fabricated on an FR4 substrate (Εr = 4.3, tan δ = 0.025) with dimensions of 13 × 10 × 1.6 mm3 (0.15λo × 0.12λo × 0.02λo), where λo represents the wavelength at the lower frequency of 3.5 GHz, the antenna achieves return losses of −19 dB and −39 dB at the respective frequencies, with peak gains of −2.8 dBi and 3.7 dBi. The design’s consistency is validated through a comparative analysis with recent studies. The antenna was placed near the ear and mouth area of a human head phantom model to perform a comprehensive SAR analysis. SAR analysis confirms compliance with safety standards, maintaining SAR levels below 2 W/kg. This paper considers the distributed information bottleneck (D-IB) problem for a primitive Gaussian diamond channel with two relays and MIMO Rayleigh fading. The channel state is an independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) process known at the relays but unknown to the destination. The relays are oblivious, i.e., they are unaware of the codebook and treat the transmitted signal as a random process with known statistics. The bottleneck constraints prevent the relays to communicate the channel state information (CSI) perfectly to the destination. To evaluate the bottleneck rate, we provide an upper bound by assuming that the destination node knows the CSI and the relays can cooperate with each other, and also two achievable schemes with simple symbol-by-symbol relay processing and compression. Numerical results show that the lower bounds obtained by the proposed achievable schemes can come close to the upper bound on a wide range of relevant system parameters. © 2023 IEEE.
