Throughout the evolution of humankind, devising effective crime prevention strategies has been a concern in fostering safer communities. Although achieving a zero-crime rate is not possible yet, using data management methods can contribute to preventing and minimizing crimes. This article presents an integrated approach to proactive crime prevention. Data insights derived from analysis and visualization provide a comprehensive overview of historical trends and scenarios, aiding understanding of past and present situations. The forecasting of crime rates extends this comprehension to the future, spotlighting the severity of the potential threat to the safety of the community. Three distinct prediction models are presented to predict the occurrence of violent/non-violent crimes, the most probable crime type, and the most probable crime location in a spatial-temporal context, facilitating optimal resource allocation of police patrolling. Combining these three analytical components, an application is designed to present this holistic solution for effective crime prevention, with a 73% accuracy in predicting violent crimes. To achieve higher accuracy in predicting the most probable crime types and locations, it is essential to go beyond spatiotemporal context and augment data on other factors that affect the occurrence of crimes.

As one of the key technologies for deployment of future wireless networks, the state-of-the-art reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs) have rapidly gained a massive interest among researchers. In a specific case study, we study the outage performance of RIS-aided wireless systems in the presence of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) scheme. In particular, different power factors are allocated to users which belong to a dedicated group. We the derive the exact outage probability of two users in a group. Specifically, it is assumed that the RIS is placed between the source and the users and the far user has better performance under the assistance of RIS. We also provide a comparative analysis to investigate the effect of the main parameters on the outage performance of our proposed system, such as the number of tunable elements of the RIS, power allocation factors, target rates, and the average signal-to-noise ratio at the base station. By using Monte Carlo simulation, we verify our analytical results via simulations. Our main results reported in this paper show the positive effect once we deploy RISs for guaranteeing fairness among NOMA users in wireless systems. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

We study the effects of center initialization on the performance of a family of distributed gradient-based clustering algorithms introduced in [1], that work over connected networks of users. In the considered scenario, each user contains a local dataset and communicates only with its immediate neighbours, with the aim of finding a global clustering of the joint data. We perform extensive numerical experiments, evaluating the effects of center initialization on the performance of our family of methods, demonstrating that our methods are more resilient to the effects of initialization, compared to centralized gradient clustering [2]. Next, inspired by the $K$ -means++ initialization [3], we propose a novel distributed center initialization scheme, which is shown to improve the performance of our methods, compared to the baseline random initialization.

Mobile device protection has emerged as an increasingly important difficulty as more and more customers depend upon wireless networks for everyday conversation and other duties. Wi-Fi networks offer convenience and versatility for users; however, they also come with safety worries. This paper presents an overview of the safety-demanding situations related to Wi -Fi networks, discusses safety issues related to cellular devices, and offers more than a few answers for creating cozy cell surroundings. It focuses on defensive person identification, privacy, statistics, and defending against possible malicious activities. Primarily, the paper explores security solutions, encryption, authentication, community access control, and tool control. Moreover, it appears on the role of service carriers in cell tool protection and shows an aggregate of quality practices and generation to sell secure usage. Finally, the paper recommends persevering with studies to identify new threats and answers to decorate mobile safety similarly.

The Encapsulating Security Payload (ESP) is the primary issue of safety structure for wireless networks. It inspires to make specific cozy switches of records across a wireless network by offering encrypted messages, information integrity guarantee, and authentication of communications. ESP can also provide excellent selective filtering of community site visitors and provides levels of authentication required for ease of network access. Due to the advances in the wireless era, the overall performance of ESP in Wi-Fi networks is becoming increasingly essential. Consequently, intelligent optimization and estimating the overall performance of ESP in wireless networks is an important task. Clever optimization of ESP in Wi-Fi networks determines the most reliable parameters for ESP to maximize its performance and reduce the network overhead that may arise while looking to take care of records transmission and information protection. Traditional optimization techniques, including Genetic Algorithms, can be used for this project, as they give more accurate outcomes and might effortlessly be implemented in the community infrastructure. Clever optimization can't only decorate the performance of ESP but can also reduce the variety of false alarms in the machine. Moreover, developing an accurate estimation for the overall performance of ESP in Wi-Fi networks is essential to get the most out of its talents. In current research a photovoltaic plant for supplying medium sized enterprises is studied. In the presented manuscript the main advantages of the proposed system and disadvantages of connecting photovoltaic systems to the distribution network are discussed. In the presented work, a harmonic analysis has been implemented to determine the resonance occurrence node of the Sepic DC-DC converter. The simulation studies were implemented in MATLAB/Simulink. Two cases of transistor conduction are presented. The differential equations for describing the processes in the converter are presented. State space matrices are used to implement harmonic analysis. Simulation studies are obtained and comments are made on the advantages and disadvantages of the methods used.

In the present paper, a harmonic analysis of a Cuk DC-DC converter is realized. A simulation model was implemented in MATLAB/Simulink. The converter is described using differential equations that are represented in state space. Two scenario of on and off transistor are considered. Simulation results are shown, where it can be observed in which case resonance occurs, which significantly influences the design of the circuit. Main advantages and disadvantages of the selected topology are described.

This paper delves into the critical importance of understanding emotions from a person’s perspective, and the potential for machines to improve human interaction by possessing this ability. While existing research on emotion recognition in computer vision has mainly focused on analyzing facial expressions and categorizing them into six basic emotions, it is important to recognize that contextual factors also play a crucial role in emotion perception. Emotions are not just limited to facial expressions but also include body language, the pitch of voice, and other nonverbal cues. We then trained a convolutional neural network model on this vast dataset and demonstrated the importance of incorporating context to recognize rich information about emotional states in images. Our model surpasses previous benchmarks and confirms the value of contextual information in emotion recognition. We have used the Emotions in Context (EMOTIC) [1] and Body Language Dataset (BoLD) [2] datasets for recognizing emotions by taking their contextual information into account. By incorporating contextual factors, machines can enhance human interaction by accurately recognizing emotional states in various situations. Based on the experiments, we recognized that the emotions of engagement (93.62%), confidence (92.41%), and excitement (95.93%) were predicted accurately. In contrast, the emotions of yearning, disapproval, and pain had low classification accuracy, with less than 40% accuracy. Lastly, this paper highlights the importance of understanding emotions beyond just facial expressions and provides a benchmark for emotion recognition in a contextual setting. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.

This article presents a stability analysis of a boost DC-DC converter for powering an LED strip. A model of a DC converter is presented and the principle of operation is described. LTSpice software was used to implement the mathematical model. LED strip data provided by the manufacturer is used. Simulation results of the realized studies by Fourier transformation are presented. Investigating the influence of transient in LED drivers is useful in order to ensure the stability of the manufactured device under various external influences.
