Selecting the most relevant subset of features from a dataset is a vital step in data mining and machine *** feature in a dataset has 2n possible subsets,making it challenging to select the optimum collection of features using typical *** a result,a new metaheuristicsbased feature selection method based on the dipper-throated and grey-wolf optimization(DTO-GW)algorithms has been developed in this *** can result when the selection of features is subject to metaheuristics,which can lead to a wide range of ***,we adopted hybrid optimization in our method of optimizing,which allowed us to better balance exploration and harvesting chores more *** propose utilizing the binary DTO-GW search approach we previously devised for selecting the optimal subset of *** the proposed method,the number of features selected is minimized,while classification accuracy is *** test the proposed method’s performance against eleven other state-of-theart approaches,eight datasets from the UCI repository were used,such as binary grey wolf search(bGWO),binary hybrid grey wolf,and particle swarm optimization(bGWO-PSO),bPSO,binary stochastic fractal search(bSFS),binary whale optimization algorithm(bWOA),binary modified grey wolf optimization(bMGWO),binary multiverse optimization(bMVO),binary bowerbird optimization(bSBO),binary hysteresis optimization(bHy),and binary hysteresis optimization(bHWO).The suggested method is superior 4532 CMC,2023,vol.74,no.2 and successful in handling the problem of feature selection,according to the results of the experiments.

A multiband tri-branch monopole antenna is presented. The antenna structure is constructed of radiating patches with three branches. It is fed by a microstrip transmission line. Essentially, the antenna is a simple structure created by a step impedance technique. In addition, the antenna can be separately regulated for each operational frequency band of 2.44 GHz, 3.36 GHz, and 5.52 GHz by the height of a central patch, a right patch with a thin strip line, and a small patch on the left, respectively. The antenna is manufactured on a size of 50x35 mm2 FR4 substrate with a thickness of 0.8 mm and a permittivity of 4.3. The suggested antenna is appropriate for network board internet of things (NB-IoT) technology working at 2.4 GHz/5.2 GHz/5.8 GHz (WLAN), 3.5 GHz (WiMAX), and 2.3 GHz/2.6 GHz/3.5 GHz (5G technology). The antenna's radiation pattern is omnidirectional, and its average gain is approximately 2dBi. © 2023 IEEE.

Air quality is a major public health issue globally. Air pollution is responsible for millions of premature deaths annually and can cause a range of health problems, including respiratory diseases. The need to develop emergent materials and new technologies to increase air quality offers a series of opportunities due to the benefits offered. Emerging materials can be used to create more efficient air filters, air quality monitoring sensors and catalysts to reduce emissions. This article summarizes the main legislative regulations for reducing pollution, as well as emerging materials that play a role in increasing air purity. The main methods of increasing air quality are highlighted: nanoremediation and nanofiltration, mentioning their main disadvantages. © 2024 IEEE.

Effectiveness of generative adversarial networks in denoising medical imaging (CT/MRI images)

For clinical analysis or medical intrusion, imaging technology is a potent tool for producing visual images of a body's inside. However, several existing methods include restricted access to high-quality and diverse datasets, overfitting, a lack of interpretability, high computational costs, varying medical imaging data, and ethical issues concerning patient privacy, consent, and bias. To overcome these issues, the effectiveness of generative adversarial networks in denoising medical imaging (CT/MRI images) is proposed. The input CT images are first gathered and preprocessed to reduce undesired noise using Altered Phase Preserving Dynamic Range Compression (APPDRC). The General Adversarial Network (GAN) is then given these preprocessed images to cope with the noisy areas of CT/MRI while also complying with maintaining image structures such as boundary details while preventing over-smoothing, and the weight parameters for the GAN are optimized using the Golden Eagle Optimization (GEO) technique. General Adversarial Network (GAN) has piqued the interest of academics studying medical image-denoising mechanisms and developing sophisticated medical image-denoising algorithms based on deep learning. In light of reducing the difficulty in feature learning and improving final diagnosis accuracy, data preprocessing is necessary and crucial in gan-based medical image denoising methods. This work focuses on GAN-based effective denoising approaches in CT/MRI. The potential challenges and research objectives are in the context of data preprocessing in medical image denoising. Because of how CT/MRI images are acquired, it was observed that noise in CT/MRI data follows the distribution. Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) for denoising medical imaging, mainly CT and MRI images, have yielded promising results of 99% accuracy. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Cross-Layer Distributed Attack Detection Model for the IoT

The security of IoT that is based on layered approaches has shortcomings such as the redundancy, inflexibility, and inefficiently of security solutions. There are many harmful attacks in IoT networks such as DoS and DDoS attacks, which can compromise the IoT architecture in all layers. Consequently, cross layer approach is proposed as an effective and practical security defending mechanism. Cross-layer distributed attack detection model (CLDAD) is proposed to enhance security solutions for IoT environments. CLDAD presents a general detection method of DDoS in sensing layer, network layer, and application layer. CLDAD is based on big data analytics techniques, which enable the detection process to be performed in a distributed way, so the model can detect DDoS attacks in any layer on-the-fly and the model support the scalability of the IoT environment. CLDAD is tested based on three datasets, namely artificial jamming attack dataset, BoT-IoT dataset, and BoT-IoT-based HTTP. Managing physical objects in the network’s periphery is made possible by the Internet of Things(IoT),revolutionizing human *** attacks and unauthorized access are possible with these IoT devices,which exchange data to enable remote *** attacks are often detected using intrusion detection methodologies,although these systems’effectiveness and accuracy are *** paper proposes a new voting classifier composed of an ensemble of machine learning models trained and optimized using metaheuristic *** employed metaheuristic optimizer is a new version of the whale optimization algorithm(WOA),which is guided by the dipper throated optimizer(DTO)to improve the exploration process of the traditionalWOA *** proposed voting classifier categorizes the network intrusions robustly and *** assess the proposed approach,a dataset created from IoT devices is employed to record the efficiency of the proposed algorithm for binary attack *** dataset records are balanced using the locality-sensitive hashing(LSH)and Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique(SMOTE).The evaluation of the achieved results is performed in terms of statistical analysis and visual plots to prove the proposed approach’s effectiveness,stability,and *** achieved results confirmed the superiority of the proposed algorithm for the task of network intrusion detection.

Most children and elderly people worldwide die from pneumonia,which is a contagious illness that causes lung *** diagnosing pneumonia from chest X-ray images,many deep learning models have been put *** goal of this research is to develop an effective and strong approach for detecting and categorizing pneumonia *** varying the deep learning approach,three pre-trained models,GoogLeNet,ResNet18,and DenseNet121,are employed in this research to extract the main features of pneumonia and normal *** addition,the binary dipper throated optimization(DTO)algorithm is utilized to select the most significant features,which are then fed to the K-nearest neighbor(KNN)classifier for getting the final classification *** guarantee the best performance of KNN,its main parameter(K)is optimized using the continuous DTO *** test the proposed approach,six evaluation metrics were employed namely,positive and negative predictive values,accuracy,specificity,sensitivity,and ***,the proposed approach is compared with other traditional approaches,and the findings confirmed the superiority of the proposed approach in terms of all the evaluation *** minimum accuracy achieved by the proposed approach is(98.5%),and the maximum accuracy is(99.8%)when different test cases are included in the evaluation experiments.

This article introduces a new medical internet of things(IoT)framework for intelligent fall detection system of senior people based on our proposed deep forest *** cascade multi-layer structure of deep forest classifier allows to generate new features at each level with minimal hyperparameters compared to deep neural ***,the optimal number of the deep forest layers is automatically estimated based on the early stopping criteria of validation accuracy value at each generated *** suggested forest classifier was successfully tested and evaluated using a public SmartFall dataset,which is acquired from three-axis accelerometer in a *** includes 92781 training samples and 91025 testing samples with two labeled classes,namely non-fall and *** results of our deep forest classifier demonstrated a superior performance with the best accuracy score of 98.0%compared to three machine learning models,i.e.,K-nearest neighbors,decision trees and traditional random forest,and two deep learning models,which are dense neural networks and convolutional neural *** considering security and privacy aspects in the future work,our proposed medical IoT framework for fall detection of old people is valid for real-time healthcare application deployment.

The complexity and difficulty of detecting cyber-attacks due to the fast increase in linked devices and apps in the Internet of Things make the current security concerns more challenging. To deal with these problems, many attack detection models have been developed recently. Machine learning-based intrusion detection systems (IDSs) have become more popular due to their efficiency and scalability. Otherwise, the emergence of edge computing technologies has presented numerous novel opportunities for applications to achieve objectives such as min-imizing latency, accelerating data processing, and strengthening barriers against potential attacks from the IoT environment, in that deploying IDSs on edge computing can prevent attacks early and minimize damage to the network. However, machine learning-based IDS on edge devices face a significant challenge in concurrently achieving high accuracy and low complexity. We need a machine learning model suitable for reasonable sample parameters while ensuring accuracy. This study proposes and examines the common ML-based IDS models with dimensional reduction techniques to appropriate edge computing solutions. We use the Edge-IIoT dataset for evaluating the system's per-formance with various sample sizes. The experimental findings show that the accuracy can be up to 99% of multiple attack detection rates. © 2023 IEEE.
