Classification of chest radiographs into healthy/pneumonia using Harris-Hawks Algorithm optimized deep-features

Pneumonia is a pulmonary infection that causes thoracic discomfort, typically caused by bacteria, or viruses. The pneumonia in children and elderly is medical emergency and hence appropriate diagnosis and treatment is necessary. Clinical-level screening of pneumonia is frequently executed using the chest X-ray and its analysis will help in treatment planning and execution. Recently, several pre-trained deep-learning (PDL) based systems are developed to identify disease in different imaging modalities, including the chest X-ray. This study aims to develop a PDL-based tool to analyse chest X-ray dataset to identify the pneumonia. This PDL-tool performs the following tasks on the X-ray database; (i) detection of healthy/pneumonia, and (ii) detecting the viral/bacterial pneumonia. Along with the traditional deep-features based classification using the SoftMax, this work also considered Harris-Hawks Algorithm (HHA) algorithm based features optimization and serial features integration to generate fused-features vector (FFV). The experimental outcome authenticates that this PDL-tool helps to offer improved accuracy with the HHA-optimized features. This work provided an accuracy of 99.3750% during healthy/pneumonia detection with FFV and Support Vector Machine (SVM), and detection accuracy of 88.5417% during viral/bacterial pneumonia detection with FFV and SVM.

The design of a 180° output phase difference Wilkinson power divider for L-band applications is detailed in this article. The Wilkinson power is generated through the utilization of the parallel coupler's phase shifter. To showcase the potential of the suggested power divider, an FR4 microwave substrate is fabricated with a narrow band of 1.6 GHz to accommodate radio astronomy systems. The insertion loss, return loss, and isolation loss for the power divider's difference phase are accurately simulated at the operational frequency.

In the article, a 3-D wideband polarization-rotating surface (PRS) is presented. The proposed until cell is made of a slotline-microstrip-slotline scheme, which is linearly coupled on orthogonal printed circuit boards (PCBs). The microstrip is turned at right angle to couple the two slotline. Under the incidence of linear polarization parallel to the slotline, the incident spatial waves are transformed into guided waves, and then coupled to the microstrip. Subsequently, the incident waves are reconverted into the free space with an orthogonal direction, resulting in wideband 90° polarization rotation. To simplify the design procedure, a transmission-line circuit model is first constructed and synthesized with equal-ripple Chebyshev function. The circuit parameters can be achieved from the specified fractional bandwidth (FBW) and return loss (RL). As an example, a fifth-order with FBW of 110% and RL of 10 dB is designed and simulated, whose physical parameters are accurately extracted from the calculated circuit parameters. Good agreement is observed between the simulated and the theoretical results.

This paper presents an innovative H-plane crossover based on groove gap-waveguide (GGW) technology for high-performance millimeter-wave (mm-wave) circuits. The design facilitates the development of key transmission components, such as Butler matrices (BMs) and beamforming feeding networks (BFNs), for multi-beam antenna systems operating in the V-band spectrum (40–50 GHz). The proposed crossover is built by cascading two identical 3-dB/90° hybrid couplers. Each coupler is designed with GGW unit-cells constructed from metallic pins spaced less than a quarter-wavelength apart. This configuration creates a wide stopband of 20–57 GHz, ensuring minimal signal interference and strong impedance matching. The coupler achieves 90° phase shift, 50 dB isolation, and low insertion loss of 0.02 dB at 45 GHz, with a fractional bandwidth of 22.22%. The crossover demonstrates excellent performance over the entire V-band, making it suitable for advanced antenna systems in satellite communications and space applications. The design reduces complexity, cost, and losses typically associated with 3D and multilayer crossover technologies, providing a compact and efficient solution for mm-wave networks.

This paper introduces a novel strategy for improving campus security by combining Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) with Internet of Things (IoT) technology. For a smart campus safety management system, the suggested solution integrates advanced monitoring with access control and emergency response methods. IoT devices are placed in key locations across the campus to gather data in real-time. This data is then analyzed using CNNs to ensure strong monitoring and the identification of anomalies. Implementing CNNs allows for the detection of possible dangers, while access control measures guarantee protected entry points. The system makes use of AI-powered intelligent emergency response methods to optimize and speed up crisis management. Through the implementation of this all-encompassing strategy, want to build a safer and smarter educational ecosystem by guaranteeing the safety of campus settings. The research showcases the possibility for scalable deployment in varied campus contexts by demonstrating the usefulness of the proposed system via simulations and real-world deployments.

The research presents a comparative analysis of the selection of objects of interest in color medical cytology images. For these purposes, the individual edge detection operators studied are Canny, Roberts, and LoG. The comparison contrasts the standard method of assessing color photographs with a technique that incorporates supplementary information. Data from individual color channels, derived from the breakdown of a color image in RGB format, serve as supplementary information. The following individual cases for potential examination are emphasized: Image processing with a complete level of reuse of edge detection operators; with a partial level of reuse of edge detection operators. The results are displayed through an array of tables, graphs, and images. Metrics of visual perception of images are utilized for comparative analysis. Compared with traditional edge detection methods, the proposed approach yields better results, which can exceed the estimates of the classical approach by 20%.

CSN s are integrating cognitive abilities, making it challenging to achieve optimized cross-layer performance with limited resources. Non-coordinated techniques typically demonstrate lower proficiency in dynamic spectrum management and network synchronization. We introduce Graph Convolutional Networks (GCN) and Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning (MARL) in our architectural solution, with the help of the specially designed Firefly Algorithm. The framework implements a distributed learning process, utilizing GCN for local topology perception and MARL for cooperative spectrum and optimal routing decisions. The results of experimental analysis show large gains compared to traditional methods. The proposed model provided a 94.2% recognition rate in spectrum hole identification, an 89.7% enhancement in network throughput, and a 78.5% diminution in end-to-end delay. The energy efficiency surpasses baseline techniques by 67.3%, while the raw packet delivery reliability remains at 92.8%. Integrating GCN with MARL and the improved Firefly Algorithm can significantly improve cross-layer optimization, offering a promising solution for the next generation of sensor networks.

The tremendous success of large models trained on extensive datasets demonstrates that scale is a key ingredient in achieving superior results. Therefore, the reflection on the rationality of designing knowledge distillation (KD) approaches for limited-capacity architectures solely based on small-scale datasets is now deemed imperative. In this paper, we identify the small data pitfall that presents in previous KD methods, which results in the underestimation of the power of vanilla KD framework on large-scale datasets such as ImageNet-1K. Specifically, we show that employing stronger data augmentation techniques and using larger datasets can directly decrease the gap between vanilla KD and other meticulously designed KD variants. This highlights the necessity of designing and evaluating KD approaches in the context of practical scenarios, casting off the limitations of small-scale datasets. Our investigation of the vanilla KD and its variants in more complex schemes, including stronger training strategies and different model capacities, demonstrates that vanilla KD is elegantly simple but astonishingly effective in large-scale scenarios. Without bells and whistles, we obtain state-of-the-art ResNet-50, ViT-S, and ConvNeXtV2-T models for ImageNet, which achieve 83.1%, 84.3%, and 85.0% top-1 accuracy, respectively. Sensors are pervasive in modern life, and Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) will play an increasingly important role in the years to come. Broadband, energy, coverage, and route optimization resource shortages are WSN's main drawbacks. Optimizing the packet delivery ratio is a crucial aspect of wireless sensor network (WSN) architecture. In order to enhance WSNs over the long term, previous approaches used a secure zone-based routing mechanism. For packet transmission, a new criterion was developed in multi-hop communication. It was built into the routing metric to protect against flooding, message manipulation, and dropping attacks. Congestion in WSN increases and reduces packet delivery ratio, even while energy conservation and attack resilience are accomplished. Our proposed solution, Advanced Path Selection with Traffic Estimation (APSTE), is a new way of routing data packets that takes flow differentiation into account. This should help increase the packet delivery ratio and solve this issue. In order to determine how effective, the suggested method is, it is cross-validated using the standard routing model known as Link Consistency with Path Evaluation (LCPE). In order to improve the WSN's QoS parameters and extend the network's lifespan, the APSTE approach reduces the energy consumption of sensor nodes while maintaining or improving their logical throughput and packet acquisition rates.

The paper presents a family of novel light blob shape descriptors for use in selected active safety algorithms used in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). One of the motivations was to obtain a descriptor that would ensure low computational complexity. This makes it easy to implement both in software and hardware. One assumption is that the location of the center of a given light spot is approximately known. The principle of its operation is then to count white pixels in selected directions, starting from this central point. A key issue here is an efficient way of determining indexes of particular pixels belonging to the image patch, as well as the location of points representing places where the white area turns into black. In the case of a hardware implementation, this can be done using a parallel circuit operating in asynchronous mode, without the need for a control clock.
