The Internet of Drones (IoD) extends the capabilities of unmanned aerial vehicles, enabling them to participate in a connected network. In IoD infrastructure, drones communicate not only among themselves but also with users and a control center. This interconnected communication framework holds promise for various applications, from collaborative decision-making to real-time data exchange. However, the expansion of communication in IoD also introduces new challenges, particularly in terms of security, privacy and authentication. Unfortunately, the current authentication protocols are inadequate in offering robust security features against various attacks in the IoD environment. To address these security issues and limitations, we proposed a secure protocol for the IoD environment using chaotic maps and hash functions. In addition, we also employed a physically unclonable function in the development of the proposed protocol. We assess the security of the protocol through both informal and formal security analysis. The formal security analysis is conducted through a widely used random or real (RoR) model. The informal analysis shows the rigorous security features against various attacks, such as masquerading, anonymity violation, and physical cloning attacks. Moreover, we compare the performance of the devised protocol with similar existing protocols across important performance parameters, such as communication overhead, computation overhead, and security features. The devised protocol provides a 67.86% and 17.80% reduction in computation and communication overheads, respectively, as compared to related protocols. The analysis demonstrates the proposed protocol's capacity to support secure communication in the IoD environment and satisfy desirable security attributes. © 2014 IEEE.

Software-Defined Networking (SDN) enhances flexibility, scalability, and innovation by decoupling the control plane from the data plane, managed through streamlined controller operations. However, Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks pose significant cybersecurity threats to SDNs, disrupting services by flooding targeted systems with traffic from multiple sources. Real-time detection of these attacks remains challenging, as traditional methods often lack the ability to accurately identify complex attack patterns due to limited feature sets. To address this, we propose an ensemble-based model that combines three classifiers (SGD, EBM, and MLP) for effective DDoS attack detection and mitigation in SDNs. Our approach integrates a reliable feature selection methodology, leveraging Principal Component Analysis (PCA) to identify the most informative features for attack detection. This enhancement significantly improves the accuracy and efficiency of the ensemble model. Evaluated using the CIC-DDoS2019 and InSDN datasets, our model demonstrates substantial improvements in detection rates and computational efficiency. Results show that the proposed approach achieves 99% accuracy, underscoring its potential as a resilient solution for DDoS attack detection in SDNs. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents a simplified fractal image compression algorithm, which is implemented on a block-by-block basis. This algorithm achieves a Compression Ratio (CR) of up to 10 with a Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) as high as 35 dB. Hence, it is very appropriate for the new applications of underwater communication. The idea of the proposed algorithm is based on the segmentation of the image, first, into blocks to setup reference blocks. The image is then decomposed again into block ranges, and a search process is carried out to find the reference blocks with the best match. The transmitted or stored values, after compression, are the reference block values and the indices of the reference block that achieves the best match. If there is no match, the average value of the block range is transmitted or stored instead. The effect of the spiral architecture instead of square block decomposition is studied. A comparison between different algorithms, including the conventional square search, the proposed simplified fractal compression algorithm and the standard JPEG compression algorithm, is introduced. We applied the types of fractal compression on a video sequence. In addition, the effect of using the fractal image compression algorithms in transform domain is investigated. The image is transferred firstly to a transform domain. The Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) and Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) are used. After transformation takes place, the fractal algorithm is applied. A comparison between three fractal algorithms, namely conventional square, spiral, and simplified fractal compression, is presented. The comparison is repeated in the two cases of transformation. The DWT is used also in this paper to increase the CR of the block domain pool. We decompose the block domain by wavelet decomposition to two levels. In this work, an attempt is made for the first time to use the measurement pattern generated by morphological transformation quantified by Hausdorff fractal dimension (HFD) and classified with ensemble learning based on bagging. The proposed work uses three morphological transformations for image preprocessing: hit-and-miss transform (HMT), white (WHT), and black top-hat (BHT). The pattern texture of US breast images is described by extracting the HFD from the regions of interest (ROI) after the ultrasound (US) images have been preprocessed. The main objective of this study was achieved by comparatively analyzing the classification performance of features using the Random Forest (RF), Extra Trees (ET) classifier, and bagging ensemble method based on XGBoot classifier. In presented study, the XGBoost classifier and BHT image processing method give an accuracy of 89.8% in a binary classification, benign versus malignant breast cancer. © 2024 IEEE.

The rapid proliferation of the Internet of Things (IoT) has led to a surge in cyber threats, demanding the development of robust security frameworks. This paper introduces an advanced threat detection model, leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cyber Twin Technologies for enhanced IoT security. The proposed framework integrates a Cyber Twin-a digital replica of physical IoT devices-with real-time data analytics to detect, predict, and respond to sophisticated cyber-attacks. The Cyber Twin continuously monitors IoT networks, identifying abnormal behaviors and enabling the implementation of dynamic security measures through AI-driven intrusion detection systems (IDS). A hybrid deep learning approach combining Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN) is utilized to enhance anomaly detection and threat classification accuracy. The system's ability to simulate various attack scenarios within a digital environment facilitates the development of effective countermeasures while minimizing the impact on actual IoT operations. Experimental results demonstrate significant improvements in detection accuracy, reduced false positives, and enhanced system resilience. The proposed AI and Cyber Twin-based threat detection model sets a new benchmark in safeguarding IoT infrastructures against emerging cyber threats. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, we investigate a simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT)-enabled cell-free millimeter-wave multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system. Therein, multiple base stations (BSs) serve multiple users by using the SWIPT based on power-splitting (PS) protocol. To further improve the system throughput and harvested energy, multiple intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRSs) are deployed. We formulate an optimization problem that aims to optimize the beamformers of the BSs, phase shifts of the IRSs, and PS factors at users to maximize the minimum energy efficiency of the users. The max-min energy efficiency optimization problem is computationally intractable, and we propose an alternating descent algorithm to solve it with low computational complexity. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. © 2023 IEEE.

In the context of electric vehicles (EVs), the demand for advanced power modules has grown significantly. Single Side Direct Cooling Silicon Carbide (SSDC SiC) is a key platform in the Onsemi VE-Trac™ Family, designed for EV-traction inverters. This platform features advanced cooling and semiconductor technologies to ensure high performance and reliability. However, one of the critical challenges in manufacturing SSDC SiC modules is the detection of solder voids. Solder voids can significantly compromise the reliability and performance of power modules by reducing the effectiveness of heat dissipation and leading to potential failures. Conventional inspection methods relying solely on X-ray machines are often time-consuming and prone to human error, highlighting the need for a more efficient and accurate approach. The primary aim of this research is to develop an Artificial Intelligence (AI) based system to serve as a secondary validation layer for void detection in SSDC SiC modules. This system works in conjunction with X-ray machines, providing independent and accurate results for solder void inspections. This study leverages semantic segmentation techniques by using deep learning approach which is Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), specifically If-Net, to classify void pixels from the background in X-ray images. The system processes output images from X-ray machines, differentiating void pixels from the background with high precision. Preliminary results indicate that the AI-based system can accurately classify solder voids, significantly reducing false positives and negatives compared to conventional inspection methods. The integration of this system with existing X-ray inspection processes promises enhanced detection, contributing to the improved solder void detection of SSDC SiC modules. © 2024 IEEE.
