The application of image compression methods in transmultiplexer systems is presented. The specific energy distribution in the combined image spectrum makes the standard compression methods, especially these that base on frequency decomposition not efficient. Two cases are described and compared: the compression of combined image and the preliminary compression of input images before transmultiplexing. Wavelet packet decomposition was used to obtain the frequency decomposition of images. Multirate processing involves digital filters that may be used to process images continuously. The results of conducted experiments are presented. The luminance of the transmitted image is calculated using formulae, which include both, upsampling and digital filtering. The combined image can be sent over a single transmission channel

This paper proposes a new concept of optical modulation namely multilevel photon communication with binary pulse position modulation. This technique combines multilevel photon communication with binary pulse position modulation (BPPM) (or Manchester pulsed signals). In this initial work, optical signal set for four-level photon is designed with BPPM. The derivation of an upper bound for four-level photon communication with BPPM is also done. Its performance is arbitrarily compared with those of the conventional multilevel photon communication by increasing photon per slot and fixing background noise. Finally, some promising remarks from this work are reseted e.g. improving its performance with multilevel error control coding, and optimum designing with related applications.

The pole-zero cancellation circuit with pile-up pulses tracking system is discussed. The CSA uses a MOS transistor biased in a triode region to continuous discharge the integration capacitance. The low noise requirements of the front-end electronics place the feedback CSA resistance in hundreds of the MOmega range. However, the high rate of input pulses generates a DC voltage shift at the CSA output and this influences the active feedback circuit. We propose a novel circuit to bias transistors in the feedback of the CSA and in the PZC circuit which tracks the mentioned above voltage shift at the CSA output and ensures the proper cancellation of the CSA feedback pole. We present measurements of a test structure for the continuous CSA feedback discharge and the implementation of this circuit in a fast multichannel ASIC fabricated in the 0.35 mum CMOS technology.

Multichannel ASIC for digital X-ray imaging requires one or more discriminators in each recording channel. The critical parameters of these discriminators are low power consumption and low offset spreads from channel to channel. In the readout electronics dedicated to work with high rates of input pulses the charge sensitive amplifier, filter stages and discriminators are often DC coupled. Such approach generates additional channel to channel spread of DC level at discriminators inputs. In this paper we present the structure of discriminators pair, which allows to select pulses according to their amplitudes and can work effectively in multichannel fast readout ASIC due to additional correction circuits implemented in each channel. We present the architecture of the discriminators, the results of Monte Carlo simulations of input offsets spreads and the measurement results of such structures which were implemented in 64-channel ASIC fabricated in 0.35 mum CMOS technology

We present the development of a 64 channel readout ASIC called DEDIX for high count rate position-sensitive measurements using semiconductor detectors. The ASIC is designed in 0.35 mum CMOS process and its total area is 3400 times 5000 mum 2 . The DEDIX has a binary readout architecture. Each channel is built of a charge sensitive amplifier (CSA) with a pole-zero cancellation circuit, a shaper, two independent discriminators and two independent 20-bit counters. The size of the input device in CSA has been optimized for a detector capacitance in the range of 1-3 pF per strip. An equivalent noise charge of 110 el rms has been achieved for a total detector capacitance of 1 pF at the shaper peaking time of 160 ns. Internal correction DAC implemented in each channel independently ensures the low spread of effective threshold of discriminators at 0.4 mV on one sigma level. The mean gain in the multichannel ASIC is 54 muV/el, with a good uniformity from channel to channel (sd/mean = 0.8%). Low noise performance and high rate capability have been demonstrated by the measurement up to and above 1 MHz of average rate of input signals.

This paper proposes high-rate full-diversity space-frequency trellis code (SFTC) designs for frequency selective fading channels, which achieve the full diversity advantage at the same transmission rate as the existing space-time block code (STBC) designs. The proposed codes are derived based on the concept of concatenated STBC and multiple trellis coded modulation (MTCM) encoder constructions. The existing space-frequency trellis code designs only provided small frequency diversity and coding gain advantages for the case in which the channel delay spread is small. Here, the proposed SFTC codes achieve larger coding gain and frequency diversity advantages than the existing SFTC designs. Simulation results show the proposed designs significantly outperform the existing space-frequency block code designs and the conventional SFTC designs

In this paper the limitations of the sensitivity analysis method for feedforward neural networks in the cases of dependent input variables are discussed. First, it is explained that in such cases there can be many functions implemented by neural networks that will accurately approximate training patterns. Then it is pointed out that many of these functions do not allow for proper estimation of the inputs importance using the sensitivity analysis method for neural networks. These two facts are demonstrated to be the reason why one can not completely rely upon the results of this method, when evaluating a real importance of inputs. Examples with graphs visualizing the discussed phenomena are presented. Finally, general conclusions about overall usefulness of the method are introduced.

It appears that it is possible for us to make a wireless communication of even home-network system within car by integrating with the ubiquitous such as mobile phone, wireless Internet, GPS and DMB in the future. If the present wireless surroundings within the car are connected with very high-speed wireless network as measurement system for wireless communication surroundings within this car in the future, it will develop the complicated communication conditions such as safe checkup, communication between systems within car, and wireless communication for user entertainment unlike universal communication conditions. Accordingly, there is the necessity of the device that can measure the interference of electric wave, communication speed and communication quality by a kind of each car. This paper aims at making the real measurement device to raise the reliability of each Application for inquiring into the interference about each other in the frequency band used under telematics surroundings

This research aims to improve the performance of controlling a pendubot disturbed by chaotic perturbation. The perturbation is in the form of chaotic noises generating using a logistic map type. The control mechanism comprises of two fuzzy controllers working in parallel: one for the actuator located at the first link, the other is for the second one. The area equivalent principle is simple to generate sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) waves. The SPWM waves that are generated by output of pulse width modulation (PWM) in single-chip microcomputer or digital signal processor (DSP) are analyzed harmoniously. In the SPWM waves there are PWM waves of same duty ratio per small equal time. There are different duty ratios in different small equal time.
