Muon spin relaxation/rotation (μSR) and magnetic susceptibility measurements were carried out on antiferromagnetic nanoparticles of CuO. Nanoparticles with center size of around 5 nm were prepared by ball-milling from single crystals of CuO and investigated using μSR measurements. In the ∼5nm assembly, the TN was reduced drastically to ∼30K, compared with the bulk TN=229K. A similar effect was observed in a system of 2 to 3 nm diameter nanorods, which was synthesized by a direct solution reaction method, where TN was suppressed further to 13 K. The present work reports direct evidence of a dramatic finite-size effect on the magnetic transition temperature in antiferromagnetic systems.

Power assisted wheelchair which assists the driving force by electric motors is expected to be widely used as a mobility support system for elderly people and disabled people. In the practical driving condition, the straight driving can be prevented by the road conditions such as branches, grass and carpets because the right and left wheels drive independently. This paper proposes a novel straight road driving control system based on the disturbance torque estimation. The proposed system estimates the driving torque difference between the right and left wheels by disturbance observer and compensates to one side of the wheels. This paper also describes a minimum jerk trajectory control for power assisted wheelchair to improve the ride quality and safety. Some practical experiments on the various practical roads show the effectiveness of the proposed control systems and the possibility for the multi purpose and high performance system of power assisted wheelchair.

This paper describes a novel velocity pattern generation scheme for power assisted wheelchair based on jerk and acceleration limitation. Power assisted wheelchair which assists the driving force by electric motors is expected to be widely used as a mobility support system for elderly people and disabled people. As one of the high performance control systems for the power assisted wheelchair, this paper proposes a real-time velocity pattern generation scheme to improve the ride quality and safety. The proposed system generates various velocity patterns with the limited jerk and acceleration and human's intent can be well reflected in the velocity patterns such as the driving distance. Some experiments show the effectiveness of the proposed control system.

This paper describes a straight and circular road driving control scheme for power assisted wheelchair. Power assisted wheelchair which assists the driving force by electric motors is expected to be widely used as a mobility support system for elderly people and disabled people, however, the performance of the straight and circular road driving must be further improved because the two wheels are driven independently. This paper proposes a straight and circular road driving control scheme based on the balanced assisted torque between the two wheels. The balanced assisted torque is determined from the proportion of the human input torque to the right and left wheels. Some experiments and subjective evaluation show the effectiveness of the proposed control system.

Transmultiplexing as a method of multiple-access in 4G-system is suggested in this paper. Every existing linear method of multiple-access can be treated as a specific transmultiplexer. Moreover, transmultiplexing realizes the idea of intelligent network and reprogrammable electronic devices. The presented method uses perfect reversible integer-to-integer filter banks which have been attracting growing interest. Signals are then invertible in finite-precision arithmetics and map integers to integers. Due to this property, transmultiplexers of this type have important advantages: they can be applied for transmitting lossless compressed signals, minimal memory is needed and complexity of computations can be low.

Tomographic imaging is a technique for exploration of a cross-section of an inspected object without destruction. Normally, the input data, known as the projections, are gathered by repeatedly radiating coherent waveform through the object in a number of viewpoints, and receiving by an array of corresponding detector in the opposite position. In this research, as a replacement of radiographs, the series of photographs taken around the opaque object under the ambient light is completely served as the projections. The purposed technique can be adopted with various beam geometry including parallel-beam, cone-beam and spiral cone-beam geometry. From the process of tomography, the outcome is the stack of pseudo cross-sectional image. Not the internal of cross section is authentic, but the edge or contour is valid. A new and efficient method of designing the transmultiplexer filters is presented. The bilinear equations posed for the FIR filters are solved to achieve perfect reconstruction. For a given combining filter bank a separation filter bank can be developed by solving a set of algebraic equations. Some examples of a two-channel and four-channel transmultiplexer system are provided to illustrate the method of filter bank designing. Due to the incorporation of integer filters a perfect reconstruction was realized and crosstalk was completely eliminated not only theoretically but also in practice. Such transmultiplexers can be applied to coded signals transmission. It is pointed that the orthogonal filters can be obtained as well.
