Background: Spatial and temporal identification of malaria-endemic areas is a key component of vector-borne disease control. Strategies to target the most vulnerable populations, the periods of high transmission and the most affected geographical areas, should make vector-borne disease control and prevention programmes more cost-effective. The present study focuses on the spatial and temporal dynamics of malaria cases and the exogenous factors influencing the transmission in an area with pyrethroid-resistant mosquito vector populations. Methods: A prospective cohort study of 1806 children under 10 years of age was conducted over 20 months to assess the risk of malaria incidence in the Cove-Zagnanado-Ouinhi (CoZO) health zone located in southern Benin. Childhood malaria data were used to identify malaria hotspots according to months of follow-up using spatial scanning methods based on the Kulldoff algorithm. Stability scores were calculated by season to assess incidence heterogeneity. Incidence values by month were aggregated with meteorological data;and demographic data were merged to detect cross-correlation between incidence and meteorological variables. Generalized equation estimators were chosen for their ability to handle intra-group correlation, ensuring robust and interpretable results despite the complexity of the data to identify factors explaining the spatio-temporal heterogeneity of malaria incidence in the CoZO health zone. Results: Malaria incidence ranged from 1.41 (95% IC 0.96–2.08) to 13.91 (95% IC 12.22–15.84) cases per 100 child-months. Spatial heterogeneity in malaria transmission hotspots was observed over the study period, with relative risks ranging from 1.59 (p-value = 0.032) to 16.24 (p-value = 0.002). The geometrical model of the filament during the fused deposition modeling (FDM) process was firstly proposed based on three different models, tractrix, parabola, and catenary. Comparing with the actual measured filament curves on the Stratasys 1600 FDM machine, it is indicated that the tractrix model had the best agreement with the actual measured curves. With the analytical simulation, the nozzle trajectories in the straight-line deposition road, circle road, and arbitrary continuous curve road were deduced, according to the traxtric based geometrical model of the filament.

Wind energy is one of the widely applied renewable energies in the world. Wind turbine as the main wind energy converter at present has very complex technical system containing a huge number of components,actuators and sensors. However, despite of the hardware redundancy, sensor faults have often affected the wind turbine normal operation and thus caused energy generation loss. In this paper, aiming at the wind turbine hydraulic pitch system, data-driven design of process monitoring(PM) and diagnosis has been realized in the wind turbine benchmark. Fault tolerant control(FTC) strategies focused on sensor faults have also been presented here, where with the implementation of soft sensor the sensor fault can be handled and the performance of the system is improved. The performance of this method is demonstrated with the wind turbine benchmark provided by Math Works.

This paper presents an original theoretical framework to model steel material properties in continuous casting line process. Specific properties arising from non-Newtonian dynamics are herein used to indicate the natural convergence of distributed parameter systems to fractional order transfer function models. Data driven identification from a real continuous casting line is used to identify model of the electromagnetic actuator device to control flow velocity of liquid steel. To ensure product specifications, a fractional order control is designed and validated on the system. A projection of the closed loop performance onto the quality assessment at end production line is also given in this paper.

The paper presents the development of real-time visual simulation systems for PLC programming education and training. This scientific area is being worked for several years at the automation group to which the authors are affiliated. Yet, recent developments in computer graphics engineering are introducing dramatic changes in the area. The most appealing and challenging is to move from 2D to 3D virtual worlds. However, a much more complex modelling, a sophisticated technological integration and the real-time nature of the application introduce significant difficulties. The paper reveals how modern but low cost computer technologies successfully handle such difficulties. Two automated warehouses are used to illustrate the design of 3D virtual systems.
