Based on the recent success of Low-Rank matrix Representation(LRR),we propose a novel classification method for robust face recognition,named LRR-based Classification(LRRC).By the ideal that if each data class is linearly spanned by a subspace of unknown dimensions and the data are noiseless,the lowest-rank representations of a set of test vector samples with respect to a set of training vector samples have the nature of being both dense for within-class affinity and almost zero for between-class ***,the LRR exactly reveals the classification of the *** experimental results demonstrate that LRRC has competitive with state-of-the-art classification methods.

Steel-making and continuous/ingot casting are the key processes of modern iron and steel enterprises. Bilevel programming problems(BLPPs) are the optimization problems with hierarchical structure. In steel-making production, the plan is not only decided by the steel-making scheduling, but also by the transportation *** paper proposes a genetic algorithm to solve continuous and ingot casting scheduling problems. Based on the characteristics of the problems involved, a genetic algorithm is proposed for solving the bilevel programming problem in steel-making production. Furthermore, based on the simplex method, a new crossover operator is designed to improve the efficiency of the genetic algorithm. Finally, the convergence is analyzed. Using actual data the validity of the proposed algorithm is proved and the application results in the steel plant are analyzed.

In this article, a method to obtain spatial coordinate of spherical robot's moving platform using a single camera is proposed, and experimentally verified. The proposed method is an accurate, flexible and low-cost tool for the kinematic calibration of spherical-workspace mechanisms to achieve the desired accuracy in position. The sensitivity and efficiency of the provided method is thus evaluated. Furthermore, optimization of camera location is outlined subject to the prescribed cost functions. Finally, experimental analysis of the proposed calibration method on ARAS Eye surgery Robot (DIAMOND) is presented;In which the accuracy is obtained from three to six times better than the previous calibration.

Because the new approach cannot be applied directly in the hot-rolled strip laminar cooling process, a simulation is necessary to verify the new approach effectively which can improve the strip quality and production yields. In order to make sure simulation platform is similar to the practical industrial process as much as possible, we proposed an engineering-oriented distributed simulation platform for laminar cooling process, integrating part of physical equipment (such as PLC). Additionally, there is physical signals exchange among the controller and virtual sensors in the platform. The simulation platform consists of four parts, including virtual object, virtual instruments and actuators, loop controller and process monitoring computer, and setting controller. The virtual object reflects the actual input and output characteristics of laminar cooling process. Virtual instruments and actuators can simulate the field instruments and actuators. Loop controller and process monitoring show the device operating conditions, the control performance, and give alarm signals in time. Setting controller performs setting control procedures. The experimental results indicate that simulation platform has powerful ability to evaluate the new approach in light of the engineering, which can reduce the live-fire testing cost and meet the requirements of repeated trials. Disturbance rejection through virtual extension of the system – geometric approach

The article proposes a method that gives the ability to consider the mathematical model of the system as a symmetry-preserving one, even if the conditions of the symmetry for the plant model are not met or if the symmetry was lost during the system operation. The proposed approach is based here on an active disturbance rejection scheme, which assumes an augmentation of the system model, which further leads to an online reconstruction and attenuation of the effects of terms in the plant, that preclude its model from being a symmetry-preserving one. The effectiveness of the proposed technique is presented in the paper using an illustrative example, supported with simulation results.

In this paper, the conventional Fuzzy Cognitive Maps (FCMs), which has already achieved success in many fields, are extended by using triangular fuzzy numbers (TFNs). The advantage of FCMs is that they are relatively easy to construct and parameterize and are capable of handling the full range of system feedback structure, including density-dependent effects. However, it is a well-known fact that there are some limitations inherent in FCM, such as lack of adequate capability to handle uncertain information and lack of enough ability to aggregate the information from different sources. Triangular fuzzy numbers which are represented by a triplet has the capacity to represent the uncertain relations between the concepts. In this context, the weight matrix representing the causal relations are enhanced to a fuzzy weight matrix that has TFNs as element. As a result of this improvement, the dynamic reasoning algorithm of the conventional FCM is improved for the use of the proposed novel FCM. The proposed FCM is presented via four simulations and the results are discussed. The results of the simulation study shows how easily the uncertain information can be represented and interpreted by the proposed FCM design methodology.

With the fast development of mobile devices and great concern on health surveillance, it is becoming increasingly popular to collect, analyze, and interpret people's health-related data by using intelligent mobile devices in their daily life. Oxygen saturation is an important physiological parameter referring to the concentration of oxygen in the blood, and prolonged low oxygen levels may lead to respiratory or cardiac arrest. Previous oxygen saturation detection methods require infrared light, however most of the off-the-shelf mobile devices lack such infrared light transmitter and receiver modules. This paper presents a novel oxygen saturation estimation method emplying a RGB camera and visible light in most of mobile devices. By applying of traditional optical oxygen saturation estimation model to mobile devices, and analyzing its problem for those devices, this study proposes a new oxygen saturation estimation model on intelligent mobile devices and offers an approach to solve the baseline drift problem in mobile cameras. Experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method and its potentials in many oxygen saturation based researches such as daily-activity based healthcare with mobile devices. © Copyright 2015, Institute of Software, the Chinese Academy of Sciences. This paper revisits the synchronisation problem for second-order multi-agent systems(MASs)under dynamically changing communication *** employing the reference model-based synchronisation algorithm,it is finally shown that synchronisation for both the position and velocity states can be achieved if the union of the communication topologies has a directed spanning tree frequently *** extends the existing results obtained for second-order MASs which exploits mild communication topology condition guaranteeing the synchronisation to a more general *** analysis is successfully performed by exploiting the product properties of row-stochastic matrices,which can also provide us with an estimate the convergence rate towards the synchronisation.

In this paper a new approach to data stream evolving fuzzy model identification is given. The structure of the model is given in the form of Takagi-Sugeno and the partitioning of the input-output space is obtained using a fuzzy c-regression clustering method and the approach also involves the evolving properties. The method is given in a recursive form. The proposed approach is shown with two simple examples of nonlinear system approximation and nonlinear dynamical system modelling. © 2014 IEEE.

The development of production and increasing usage of light electric vehicles such as electric bicycles and electric scooters entails development of batteries, battery chargers and fast charging algorithms. Batteries with different nominal electrical characteristics and production technologies are currently in use. Among them, lithium-iron batteries are increasingly being used. The differences in basic characteristics of batteries and standardization issues require fast identification of various battery types and adapting of charging algorithms according to nominal current, voltage, capacity and state of charge. This paper describes a method for determining the nominal current for unknown LiFePO 4 battery connected to the stationary filling station for charging electric bicycles. A prerequisite for determination of the rated current is identification of current-voltage curve at the moment of connection and identification of the number of cells. The algorithm for determining these parameters is given in the first part of the paper. The second part deals with determination of the nominal current for LiFePO 4 battery based on current-voltage response to the selected battery charging algorithm.
