Current software licensing models exhibit shortcomings in transparency, security, and adaptability. Addressing these challenges, this study presents a novel blockchain-based licensing system using the Ethereum platform. By employing smart contracts and the ERC721 and ERC20 token standards, the system ensures automated, transparent, and secure license agreement enforcement and facilitates license token operations. Influenced by the rise of subscription licenses and the implications of the UsedSoft court decision, the research designs a blockchain-driven subscription license model, analyses the UsedSoft case's impact on license transfers, and formulates specialized smart contracts for varied licensing models. The approach signifies a marked advancement in contemporary software licensing practices. © 2023 IEEE.

Telemedicine, the remote delivery of medical treatment via digital technology has become essential, particularly for rural and disadvantaged populations. The benefits of telemedicine are reviewed in this research, including increased access to care, lower costs, and better chronic illness management. Although the COVID-19 pandemic's acceleration guaranteed continuity of care, technological constraints, legal concerns, and data privacy considerations hindered the full potential from being achieved. The article addresses the barriers to wider adoption and examines research showing the benefits of telemedicine. It ends with suggestions for infrastructure investments and legislative modifications to broaden the use of telemedicine and lessen healthcare inequities. © 2025 IEEE.

The large language model has demonstrated its ability to reason and interpret in text-to-text applications. Current Chain of Thought (CoT) research focuses on either explaining reasoning steps or improving prediction results. This paper proposes a transformer-based language model to generate explanations as the Chain of Thoughts, then fuse visual (image) modality. The proposed model allows a multimodal reasoning chain based on text and image information. In particular, we adopt an attention layer with a gated fusion mechanism to form a joint representation for image and text input. The experiment results show that using CoT as part of the input can increase answer prediction by 19% in our study. Therefore, in our modelling process, CoT prompting is not only a part of the output to generate reasoning explanations but is also used as the input of the decoder to predict answers. The proposed method outperforms GPT-3.5 (two-shot) by 14% and GPT-4 (CoT) by 4.71% with a much smaller parameter size pre-trained language model. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

One of the principal cause of mortality in the countryis liver disease. Each year, liver disease kills more than 2.4 percent of all Indians. As a result,for the early intervention of liver disease, anautomated programme with higher accuracy and reliability is necessary. This paper addresses graph topology identification for applications where the underlying structure of systems like brain and social networks is not directly observable. Traditional approaches based on signal matching and spectral templates have limitations, particularly in handling scale issues and sparsity assumptions. We introduce a novel covariance matching methodology that efficiently reconstructs the graph topology using observable data. For the structural equation model (SEM) using an undirected graph, we demonstrate that our method can converge to the correct result under relatively soft conditions. Furthermore, we extend our methodology to polynomial models and any known distribution of latent variables, broadening its applicability and utility in diverse graph-based systems. © 2025 IEEE.

There are many challenges facing organizations. A complex and dynamic environment requires constant change and improvement of activities and reconfiguration of processes carried out in organizations. Market requirements and customer expectations force companies to seek for and apply ever new techniques and solutions. The aim of this article is to present the concept of Throughput Accounting in a production system operating under small batch production conditions as a support for decision-making. This paper also compares the results of using three different costing systems in a resource-constrained manufacturing environment. A virtual chatbot assistant is an interactive application designed to simulate human-like communication and respond to user inquiries promptly. This study explores the role of teaching assistants (TAs) as assessors in a university’s computer science program. It examines the challenges and implications of TAs in grading, with a focus on their expertise and grading consistency. The paper analyzes grading experiences in various exam settings and investigates the impact on assessment quality. We adopt an empirical methodology and answer the research question by analyzing the data from two exams. The chosen exams have similar learning objectives but they differ in how TAs graded them, thus providing an opportunity to reflect on different grading styles. It concludes with recommendations for enhancing TA grading effectiveness, emphasizing the need for detailed rubrics, training, and monitoring to ensure fair and reliable assessment in higher education. Due to an increase in the load of network, load balancing service, i.e., a service that gives an equal volume of each task assignment to each of the servers in data centers, it is usually performed by the specialized hardware. Networks have to adjust due to the load and also as a result of dealing with faults and complexity which are provided in the implementation and configuration process. Network engineers or administrators must be aware of selecting controllers according to the network requirement, which can lead to performance issues, scalability challenges, reliability and fault tolerance and many more problems in the network. To tackle this problem, this research analyses four different controllers in an experiment: In-band, open flow, OVS, and remote controller, which are the key aspects. The paper shows how these controllers, which are detected through a comprehensive evaluation of network performance attributes (e.g., Throughput and Jitter), affect the overall system’s performance. This information provides beneficial information for the researchers and practitioners who wish to make informed choices whenever they select suitable controls for specific network needs. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

Poverty is considered a serious global issue that must be immediately eradicated by Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1, namely ending poverty anywhere and in any form. As a developing country, poverty is a complex issue faced by Indonesia. Tackling poverty in Indonesia has become a key focus of the government’s strategic priorities. This issue of poverty is experienced by all provinces in Indonesia, including Central Java. The poverty rate in Central Java stands at 10.77% or 3.79 million people. The causes of poverty are explained by several factors. Using these various factors, a mapping model can be conducted to determine the number of poor populations in Central Java. This research employs Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) and Mixed Geographically Weighted Regression (MGWR) approaches to compare the effectiveness of these models in analyzing the number of poor populations in Central Java in 2023. The kernel function weighting used in this study is Fixed Gaussian. The results showed that the MGWR model outperformed both the OLS regression and GWR models, achieving an Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) of 62.766, an R2 of 82.3%, and a Mean Squared Error (MSE) of 0.177. Consequently, it can be inferred that the MGWR model was more suitable for explaining the poverty levels in Central Java. © (2024), (International Association of Engineers). All Rights Reserved.
