Calibration and validation of the CMADS-Driven SWAT model in the distributed hydrological simulation of the Baihe River Basin in Nanyang

The China Meteorological Assimilation Driving Dataset for the SWAT model (CMADS) has gained widespread use for its accuracy. This study focuses on the Baihe River Basin in Nanyang, using the SWAT tool and CMADS dataset to construct two distributed hydrological models of different scales. The accuracy and effectiveness of these models were evaluated. Parameter uncertainty analysis on a monthly and annual scale was conducted usingSUFI-2 algorithm. The goal was to assess the applicability of the CMADS-driven SWAT model in theBasin by calibrating and validating flow data at both monthly and annual scales. The results form the calibration period (2009–2013) showedmonthly R2 and NSE values were 0.81 and 0.8, while the annual values were 0.91 and 0.9. During validation(2014–2016), the annual R2 and NSE values were 0.89 and 0.86, and the monthly values were 0.76 and 0.76, with reasonable values for the P-factor, R-factor, and percentage bias (PBIAS), indicating good model applicability. Seasonal variations in rainfall, surface runoff, water yield, evapotranspiration (ET), and potential evapotranspiration (PET) were analyzed. The results demonstrate that surface runoff and water yield is closely related to precipitation, while ET is largely controlled by land use types, providing insights for water resource management. © 2024 Indian Society for Hydraulics.

Experiments and modeling of microstructural and mechanical behaviors of laser-welded Ni-based superalloy at high temperatures

The performance of welded Ni-based superalloys at high temperatures is essential to be evaluated due to their particular service environment for aero-engines and high-speed *** tensile properties and related microstructural evolutions such as the carbide precipitate and grain of a laser-welded Ni-based alloy were experimentally and numerically investigated at different temperatures(20,300,500,800℃).The results show that at room temperature,the strength of the Base Material(BM)was slightly smaller,with a difference of less than 1%,than the Welded Material(WM),which can be attributed to the more uniformly distributed needle-shaped carbide precipitates in the WM than those nonuniformly coarser spherical ones in the *** at 300℃ and 500℃,the strength of WM decreased more obviously compared with that of BM due to the more apparent growth of grain:13.52%loss in yield strength in WM alloys as compared with BM alloys at 300℃,and 16.57% at 500℃.At 800℃,the strength of BM and WM both decreased to a similar level due to Dynamic Recrystallization(DRX).However,a much higher elongation was observed for the BM than WM(less than 50%of BM),which can be attributed to the enhanced dislocation accumulation capability of the large spherical carbides along grain boundaries on the fracture surface in ***,a unified model considering the welding effects on both microstructures(dislocation,carbides,and grain)and mechanical properties evolutions at different temperatures was developed and *** on this model,the key temperature ranges(20–600℃)where apparent weakening of strength and uniform plasticity occurs for welded structures were identified,providing a direct guidance for potential structure and process design.

Analog circuit topology synthesis suffers from weak synthesis capability and low-synthesis efficiency, which result in a bottleneck toward its practical industrial applications. This article presents a proximal-policy-optimization-based circuit topology synthesis framework, which features a superior convergence rate. To further promote its synthesis efficiency, we have improved a deterministic optimization method by incorporating a bias-aware scheme and group concept, which is applied as a filter to eliminate the undesirable topologies in the early evaluation stage. Moreover, a graph-based refinement scheme is proposed to perform deterministically on the generated circuit topologies, which can efficiently add frequency compensation circuits. Compared with the state-of-the-art approaches, our proposed method not only boosts the synthesis efficiency by at least 3 times but also enhances the synthesis capability with a deterministic compensation scheme, showcasing significant advancement of performance efficacy. © 2024 IEEE.

The use of CAD/CAM in dentistry makes it possible to optimize the treatment process in case of a violation of parts of the orofacial complex. It contributes to the rationalization of the production process of the dental prosthetic structure by transferring file formats between different software programs for design, design visualization, simulation, and post-production through an additive or subtractive process. Mixed logic synthesis takes advantage of distinct logic representations through circuit partitioning, classification and optimization, and merging. How circuits are partitioned plays a significant role in the quality of results (QoR) of mixed logic synthesis. Currently, existing methods employ either a naive or a structurally aware approach. However, the critical path may be destructed by circuit merging due to the critical path segment being disconnected by partitions. To address this issue, we propose an improved depth aware circuit partitioning method for mixed logic synthesis. To be specific, we treat the critical path as an entity and set the partition size dynamically according to the logic depth of the input circuit. Based on the EPFL benchmark suites, XOR-Majority Graph (XMG) achieves a 19% reduction in logic depth with a 6% logic node increase over standard mixed-synthesis. © 2023 IEEE.

Logic function decomposition is critical to logic synthesis. In this paper, we propose an integrated logic function decomposition flow, which consists of disjoint support decomposition, exact synthesis, Shannon decomposition, and the recently proposed majority-of-three (MAJ) decomposition. Through this process, the logic function can be decomposed into any directed acyclic graph (DAG). An experimental evaluation shows that our algorithm leads to better XOR-majority graphs (XMGs) compared to state-of-the-art algorithms. Our experiments show that the proposed method achieves an average of 5% and 6% reduction in the lookup tables (LUTs) size/depth product applied to the EPFL arithmetic and random control benchmarks after LUT mapping, respectively. © 2023 IEEE.

Climate change, increase in waste generation, depletion of natural resources and the insufficient use of renewable resources are major issues the world has to deal with. The development and implementation of sustainable waste management strategies are required in order to establish a circular economy and to harness new sources of renewable energy. A possible solution is the concept of biointelligence, which describes a highly digitalized as well as bio-hybrid mode of interconnected production. Following nature's example, synergies between technical processes in terms of energy and materials are to be identified and utilized. Furthermore, availabilities of sustainable waste sources and consumer needs must be aligned in order to achieve a technology-based demand economy. After recent literature outlined a basic model of a biointelligent value creation system consisting of numerous on-site units, this paper introduces the concept of biointelligent Waste-to-X systems as a technological substantiation. A description of the system model as well as example technologies are presented in order to serve as a basis for their implementation. © 2023 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V. A consumer-oriented design thinking model for product design education

For design education, although different international design organizations have developed design thinking models (DTM), these DTMs mainly focus on improving innovation but ignore the actual demands of users. This paper proposes a consumer-oriented DTM to implement innovation and evaluation based on accurately grasping users' demands. The consumer-oriented DTM consists of three phases, namely preparation, creation and evaluation. In the preparation phase, the evaluation grid method is used to obtain a three-layer demand chart from skilled users;this chart is then used to design questionnaires to get charm factors. In the creation phase, the concrete charm factors are taken as the design objectives to guide the innovative design. Several methods are integrated, including the objectives tree method, function analysis method, and finite structure method, to obtain a group of alternatives. In the evaluation phase, the original evaluation items are taken as the evaluation criteria, and then the best solution is selected. The highchair is considered a design case to elaborate on how students use the consumer-oriented DTM to carry out design practice. The final results verify that the new DTM applies to classroom teaching, which improves the commercialization of design concepts and cultivates students' ability to communicate with others. © 2021 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.
