AISI SAE 1045 steel tenacity variation evaluation subjected to corrosion process by chloride using the Charpy pendulum machine

The steel corrosion affecting study is important for industries and companies as well as for manufacturers of these material types. AISI SAE 1045 steel was used in this study, due to its frequent use. A specimen's series were prepared which were induced in an aggressive environment with the aim of degenerative process accelerating by increasing the material corrosion impact by altering the material mechanical properties. 15 specimens were exposed to the fog bank chamber, likewise 15 specimens in saline immersion chamber all with different exposure times 15. 30, and 45 days, subsequently the specimens are the impact test subjected to by the method of Charpy obtaining the tenacity value. To determine these values, the ASTM E23, ASTM A673 and ASTM E739 standards were used.

Piezoelectricity comes as a principle of transformation of mechanical energy into electrical energy, it is limited in terms of investment, time and research, due to this fact, the need arises to be able to innovate with data collection on the most used models to collect and generate electrical energy. In this research, the literature regarding the generation and collection of electrical energy using piezoelectric materials was analyzed, from this analysis, fifty innovative articles were determined in the last three years, which were reflected in a data matrix, in which It presents the generation and collection element, the applications, and shows the performance in terms of power or voltage that the prototypes supply. With the results of the table, a condensed panorama of current data is obtained, about the most used and outstanding of this form of little-used energy, but which is a competent and efficient alternative for the generation of electricity.

This article focuses on the development of an electronic remote data acquisition system which will have the following sensors adapted: thermometer, hygrometer and barometer. From the measurements of these will be obtained data of temperature, relative humidity, atmospheric pressure, which will be stored in the form of records in a data recorder using Raspberry Pi and through wireless communication the data will be transmitted when the software requires it to a module Central of visualization, which according to some parameters will automatically update the histories according to the defined times, or at the request of the user. It will be implemented following a process of research, planning, execution and validation. It implies the necessary information for the implementation, in the planning process the different systems to be used will be divided into 3 groups, measurement and registration system, communication system and a control system composed of the software, and then the acquisition will proceed of the equipment and accessories necessary to execute the assembly. In the execution process, the physical implementation of all the systems will be carried out and the programming of the data acquisition, communication and data storage systems will be developed.

This work aims to describe the construction of a low-cost functional prototype of an electromechanical hand with opening and closing capacity. The device, built on an ABS filament extruder, is actuated by a MG995 high torque servo motor, controlled by an Arduino-UNO R3 board, from the processing of electromyographic signals carried out by: MyoWare Muscle Sensor. The realization and functional evaluation of the device is developed in six phases: The first is to select the thermo-deformable materials, the second is to select the electronic components; the third phase is the design of the electromechanical hand prosthesis, the fourth phase was the construction of the mechanical parts; the fifth phase is the development of the control program on the electronic card; and the sixth phase of the project consists of validating the developed prototype by observing its opening and closing through the oscilloscope. Due to the low cost of development and ease of reproducibility (because it is built under the open-source philosophy), this work is expected to make a contribution to the disabled community, especially the one with limited resources.

The research explores the use of cocoa pod shell (CPS) in rural areas and accessible to the cocoa farmer, applying VOSviewer software. The results show that the production of ethanol or biochar with CPS is not feasible, the first due to its low sugar content and the second, due to the requirement of processes with high temperatures for the extraction of different chemical compounds (i.e activated carbon). On the other hand, obtaining pellets represents a viable energy potential, since the calorific value is competitive with other biomass; Also, through anaerobic digestion under the ideal conditions, it can generate 55% in biogas of the solid matter used. Additionally, the ashes produced in direct combustion or pellets rep-resent an excellent catalyst, which can be used in transesterification, for the generation of biodiesel, used with other residual oils, giving a plus in the efficient use of resources.

Low-cost automatic device for obtaining the coefficient of static friction

Considering that the coefficient of friction between materials is one of the important characteristics in the design, either by wear or by requiring friction for power transmission, and this value is usually achieved in tables and these values come out of experimentation or results with tests using devices. Furthermore, these devices are not often found in the laboratories of the universities. For this reason, it was decided to adopt one of the methods of calculation, in this case the inclined plane. This consists of finding the angle of inclination in which one material begins to slide on another, since calculating the tangent of this angle determines the coefficient of friction. To this end, a device was built, consisting of a platform that by means of a mechanism is tilted little by little, until the object under study begins to move. In addition, to exclude human error, the device has sensors and an adequate control, in such a way that the process is completely automatic. Finally, the device is based on open technology, such as Arduino, managing to build a device to obtain the coefficient of friction at low cost. Its development and the results obtained are shown in this paper.

Distributed Motion Planning for Industrial Random Bin Picking

The task of bin picking is to automatically unload objects from a container using a robotic manipulator. A widely used solution is to organize the objects into a predictable pattern, e.g., a workpiece carrier, in order to simplify all integral subtasks like object recognition, motion planning and grasping. In such a case, motion planning can even be solved offline as it is ensured that the objects are always at the same positions. However, there is a growing demand for non-structured bin picking, where the objects can be placed randomly in the bins. This arises from recent trends of transforming classical factories into smart production facilities allowing small lot sizes at the efficiency of mass production. Due to unknown positions of the objects in the non-structured bin picking scenario, trajectories for the manipulator cannot be precomputed, but they have to be computed online. Sampling-based motion planning methods like Rapidly Exploring Random Tree (RRT) can be used to plan the trajectories. In this paper, we propose a modification of RRT for distributed motion planning aiming to reduce the runtime. The planning task is first simplified by computing several guiding waypoints. The waypoints are distributed to a set of planners running in parallel and each planner computes a short trajectory between two given waypoints. Connecting the waypoints is easier than solving the original task, therefore each planner runs fast. In comparison to other parallel motion planning techniques, the proposed approach does not require any communication among the computational nodes, which is more suitable for cloud-based computing. The proposed work has been verified both in simulation and on a prototype of a bin picking system.

The study of materials corrosion effect is a great importance topic for the manufacturing industry and also for the customer that requires this. That is why a research study was conducted that aimed to determine the elasticity modulus variation of AISI SAE 1045 steel subjected to corrosion. To achieve this, thirty-five specimens were used, which were exposed to chlorides by immersion processes and salt spray chamber in three periods of time and then subjected to stress test destructive, following the guidelines established under ASTM G-1 standards, ASTM G-31 and ASTM E-8. Variation was found in the elastic behavior of steel and curves that differ from the theoretical ones raised in the documents.

The research consists of the design and automation of a pneumatic injector, applying LabVIEW software through an integrated Arduino hardware module, programming through an interface, the pressure that guarantees the geometric quality in the models obtained. The final result shows a piece designed in mass fraction with 40% polypropylene resin (PP), 40% recycled polyethylene terephthalate in the form of scales (R-PET) and 20% from cocoa pod husks ash (CPHA). Likewise, the platform allows to define and control the conditions of generation of the product, defining a pattern according to the type and the mass proportion between the resin of PP, R-PET and CPHA. In addition, the design of the mechanical and thermal elements, consisting of the piston and the system of clamp-type resistors, the pneumatic injection means and the raw material feed gate, improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the equipment.

This research used a salt spray booth to generate accelerated corrosion in a copper conductor, AWG 12-gauge purity of 95.95%, this caliber used in residential electrical installations according RETIE Chapter 3 Article 20 and NTC 2050 338. Additionally, to provide an enabling stage of corrosion, type mouse tail splices were made. The amount of corrosion is measured by weight loss, and incidence of corrosion in transport was evaluated from two perspectives: difference active at the beginning and end of the test power, and the change in resistance of the specimen measured at different times of the experiment. The test piece was subjected to a flow of alternating current into a low voltage system, while corrosion occurred. Using two single-phase two-wire electronic meters, the rate of power supply circuit test was recorded, to check for changes in the energy carried from exposure to the corrosive environment wire. The data collected showed that exposure times of the samples in the salt spray chamber involvement was not very noticeable in the copper wire, highlighting small corrosion spots. Similarly, the energy no changes were observed to induce corrosion, however, the resistance of the wire showed a total change of up to 2.4 [milliohms].
