Hybrid Renewable Energy Sources (HRES) in microgrids present a cost-effective option for supplying power to remote areas. This research focuses on optimizing HRES systems for Base Transceiver stations in Basra, Iraq, by using the Multiobjective Improve Salp Swarm algorithm (MOISSA) to enhance reliability, reduce energy costs, and improve energy distribution through effective design variables such as photovoltaic power, wind turbines, and battery autonomy days. Through MATLAB simulations with the MOISSA algorithm, and comparative analysis to other algorithms, the study shows a significant reduction in energy costs and a decrease in power supply probability, offering valuable design solutions for Hybrid Microgrid Systems. © 2024 IEEE.

This study investigates the hydrogen production through the Proton exchange membrane electrolyzer. It focuses on the hydrogen production rates, power, voltage and stack temperature to elaborate the operating dynamic behavior and efficiency of the system. The simulation reveals the characteristically behavior of these parameters including the activation phases, peak performances and stabilization trends. This study provides a framework for designing and optimization the system which contribute in the advancement of renewable hydrogen production technologies. © 2024 IEEE.

Another name for Down syndrome is Trisomy 21, which is a complex chromosomal disorder that poses a substantial challenge in prenatal care due to its widespread prevalence. An additional copy of chromosome 21 is the defining feature of this disorder, leading to numerous physical and cognitive impairments. Typical physical traits of Down syndrome include a flattened facial structure, most notably in the nose bridge region, as well as upward-slanted almond-shaped eyes and a shortened neck. Apart from these features, individuals with Down syndrome also experience a range of intellectual disabilities, spanning from mild to severe. These challenges manifest in various areas, such as expressive communication, verbal memory, and attention. Furthermore, children with this disorder may exhibit behavioral issues that require special attention and care. Early and accurate detection of this condition is essential for informed decision-making by expectant parents. This review explores an overview of the data sets and results of recent studies that have used deep learning and machine learning methodologies to create effective models for the identification of Down syndrome. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper investigates the features of a new metamaterial-inspired phased array that exhibits high-gain and steerable radiation capabilities, catering to the needs of future cellular networks. Its schematic incorporates eight modified dipole elements arranged in a 1 × 8 linear configuration. To enhance the radiation properties of the designed dipole resonators, 2 × 2 metamaterial unit cells are positioned alongside each dipole resonator. The dipole resonators are compact in size and employ microstrip-line feeds. The suggested smartphone phased array design achieves an impedance bandwidth of 28-32 GHz with -10 dB, offering over 80% total efficiencies and 13 dBi radiation gains. This promising performance aligns with the essential requirements of future cellular communications. © 2024 IEEE.

The need for an early detection of disaster has grown vital because of the rise in natural disaster events occurred in Malaysia recently, such as fire, landslides, and floods. Thus, an early warning system could somehow reduce the seriousness of disaster. Due to this, Polymer Optical Fiber (POF) has garnered a lot of interest, because of its promising features especially for becoming a sensing device. This paper study the effectiveness of polymer FBG sensor in Fiber-To-The Home (FTTH) network. The simulation was done using OptiSystem7.0 software. The changes of power(dBm) due to the temperature changes was tabulated. PMMA has shown a significant change in power with averagely 1.123 dBm drop for every 10°C increase of temperature. This indicates that PMMA have promising characteristics to become the main material for fabrication of FBG sensor. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Additive manufacturing(AM)processes are reliable techniques to build highly complex metallic *** energy deposition(DED)is one of the most common technologies to 3D print metal *** a wide range of literature that has discussed the ability of DED in metal printing,weak binding,poor accuracy,and rough surface still exist in final ***,limitations in 3D printing of metal powder and wire indicate post-processing techniques required to achieve high quality in both mechanical properties and surface ***,hybrid manufacturing(HM),specifically additive/subtractive hybrid manufacturing(ASHM)of DED has been proposed to enhance product *** is a capable process that combines two technologies with 3-axis or multi-axis *** methods have been suggested to increase the accuracy of machines to find better quality and *** contrast,drawbacks in ASHM still exist such as limitations in existing reliable materials and poor accuracy in machine coordination to avoid collision in the multi-axes *** should be noted that there is no review work with focuses on both DED and hybridization of DED ***,in this review work,a unique study of DED in comparison to ASHM as well as novel techniques are discussed with the objective of showing the capabilities of each process and the benefits of using them for different ***,new gaps are discussed in ASHM to enhance the layer bonding and surface quality with the processes'effects on microstructures and performance.

To improve the selective catalytic reduction of NO with NH3 over active coke(AC),coal–biomass ACs were prepared from the mixture of poplar and 1/3 coking coal for increasing the active *** resultant ACs were characterized by N2 adsorption and X-ray photoelectron ***,the denitrification performance was tested at laboratory *** addition,density functional theory was used to analyze active sites on the surface of *** result revealed that,with an increase in poplar content,the decrease in micropores volume appeared in the reduction of denitrification ***,C−O group including hydroxyl and ether increased with the increase in poplar content,which was found to be most likely responsible for the promoted catalytic activity of AC toward NO reduction mainly because of enhancing NH3 *** comprehensive effect of two factors made the denitrification ability of AC increased first and then decreased.

This paper presents a novel technique for enhancing the allocation of resources in the charging infrastructure for e-bikes by employing deep reinforcement learning (DRL) in a context-specific manner. With the evolving transportation land-scape and the increasing popularity of electric micro-mobility solutions, efficient resource management plays a vital role. The methodology involves utilizing deep Q networks (DQN) in virtual environments to dynamically allocate charging resources based on contextual parameters. Through empirical analysis, we demonstrate the efficacy of our approach in achieving optimal resource allocation while considering the needs of diverse stakeholders. Findings suggest that the DQN model, when integrated with context-awareness and stakeholder objectives, enables efficient resource allocation, maximize fleet utilization, ensures charging station availability, enhances user satisfaction, and promotes environmental sustainability. The findings of this study offer valuable insights for policymakers, urban planners, and industry stakeholders seeking to enhance the sustainability and effectiveness of micro-mobility services in urban settings. Overall, this study contributes to the advancement of sustainable urban mobility solutions and underscores the potential of DRL in addressing complex urban transportation challenges. © 2024 IEEE.

Robust Attacks Detection Model for Internet of Flying Things based on Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) and Adversarial Training

The Internet of Flying Things (IoFT) holds significant promise in fields like disaster management and surveillance. However, it is increasingly vulnerable to cyberattacks that can compromise the confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA) of sensitive data. Despite the growing interest in proposing Intrusion Detection Systems (IDSs) for IoFT networks, current literature faces key limitations, particularly the shortage of publicly available IoFT datasets with diverse attacks, and the fact that existing IDSs lack robustness against sophisticated adversarial machine learning attacks. This paper is the first study to address these limitations by proposing a more resilient and accurate IDS tailored for IoFT networks (RIDS-IoFT). We introduce a novel IDS that leverages Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) to generate a hybrid dataset that combines real IoFT traffic data with GAN-generated adversarial attacks, addressing the dataset diversity issue. Additionally, we introduce an innovative adversarial training method to enhance the system’s defense against evolving threats, such as Fast Gradient Sign Method (FGSM), Basic Iterative Method (BIM), and Carlini & Wagner (C&W) attacks. The proposed RIDS-IoFT was evaluated using four machine learning models, Random Forest (RF), Decision Tree (DT), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Logistic Regression (LR), on two datasets: ECU-IoFT and CICIDS2018. The IDS’s performance was assessed based on its ability to detect both traditional and adversarial attacks. The results show that the Random Forest model achieved the highest detection accuracy, up to 96.5%, demonstrating superior performance across both real and hybrid datasets. The proposed RIDS-IoFT not only enhances detection accuracy but also strengthens resilience against adversarial threats, making it suitable for resource-constrained IoFT environments.
