The contribution focuses on the optimization of the economic balance of the sorting line for the processing of municipal waste with the aim of increasing the efficiency and sustainability of waste management. This abstract provides an overview of the key economic aspects that affect sorting line operations, including cost, revenue and financial return analysis. Major cost items include investment in modern sorting line technology, installation and commissioning costs, and operating costs associated with maintenance, energy and labor. On the revenue side, the income from the sale of sorted materials such as plastics, metals and paper and the savings achieved by reducing the volume of waste sent to landfills are analysed. The study also takes into account possible subsidies and financial support available for environmental projects. The economic analysis of a purely municipal project (without the involvement of foreign capital, the involvement of public funds and subsidies) CEVYKO includes an assessment of the overall financial efficiency, the identification of potential risks and obstacles, and the proposal of measures to increase profitability and sustainability. Special emphasis is placed on long-term economic and environmental benefits, including improving the local economy, creating jobs and reducing the ecological footprint. The results of this analysis provide valuable information for decision-making processes and strategic planning in the field of municipal waste management. The recommendations arising from this study support the efficient allocation of resources and contribute to the achievement of the CEVYKO project goals. in the field of economic sustainability. © 2024 International Multidisciplinary Scientific Geoconference. Surface Roughness Modelling of the Micromechanically Patterned CNT Forests

Introduction: A new method of modelling surface roughness of the resultant structure from various parameters in the microforming of CNT forests has been developed. One of the top-down mi-croforming methods of CNT forests is called micromechanical bending (M2B). The method uses a high-speed rotating spindle to compact and flatten the surface of CNT forests. It results in the surface structure becoming smoother and increased reflectance of the surface. The reason for this phenomenon is the porosity that decreases by bending CNTs, hence preventing light from passing through. Moreo-ver, the surface roughness is also significantly reduced. However, a study has yet to be conducted to estimate the theoretical value of surface roughness from the identified parameters. Aim: This research aims to develop an approach to model the surface roughness of resultant surface from a set of parameters in a micropatterning method. Methods: Experiments were conducted using a CNC machine to pattern onto CNT Forests using specific parameters, such as 1000, 1500, and 2000 rpm (spindle speed) with feed rates of 1, 5 and 10 mm/min. The step size was kept fixed at 1 µm for each level of the patterning pass. It was found that the periodic pattern of trochoidal mark was engraved on the surface, contributing to the value of measured surface roughness. Results: The results were compared with the theoretical value from the calculation of surface roughness using trochoidal motion with the assumption of the grain sizes of 0.2 µm, 0.3 µm, and 0.4 µm. The actual value of surface roughness was measured using the XE-AFM machine. The grain of 0.2 µm produced the same experimental trend with the theoretical value at rotational speeds of 1000, 1500, and 2000 rpm. However, the theoretical result was shifted downward because the surface could return to the original position due to the elastic properties of the CNTs, hence reducing the surface roughness. The best-fit result was reported for the grain of 0.4 µm

This article presents the issues related to the corrosion processes occurring in the steel elements from which road machines are made. The types of corrosion processes that occur in metals exposed to an aggressive environment are presented, and the problems of chemical corrosion of metals are also described. Issues related to the methods of corrosion prevention were also presented, with an emphasis on the use of paint coatings. The article characterizes the causes of corrosion problems by the 5xWhy method and the so-called VoC (Voice of Customer) used in the Six Sigma method. Paint coatings are the simplest, most effective, and cheapest way to protect steel elements against an aggressive corrosive environment. The article also characterizes the most typical and most used paint coatings. The article ends with a summary of recommendations for the maintenance and storage of road machines outside the season in which they are used. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The sustainability issue in the transportation sector brings the electric vehicle (EV) as a new promising solution for reducing carbon emissions. However, the EV adoption faces issues regarding range, recharging time, and high initial investment. To enhance the adoption, supporting infrastructures should be planned. Therefore, forecasting the growth of EV adoption becomes important to help industries and government in strategic decision making. This paper provides a literature review about forecasting methods in EV ownership, which includes studies from 2011 to March 2023. The storage capacity of surplus energy produced by renewable and conventional power plants makes latent heat storage units (LHSUs) using phase change materials (PCMs) relevant. The phase change processes are affected by the geometric shape of the PCM tank and the operating conditions to which it is subjected. This study explores the behavior of the melting process of paraffin (a PCM) in a square-shaped tank oriented in various orientations 0°, 30°, 60° and 90°. The results show that initially, the melting is dominated by thermal conduction, but as it progresses, natural convection takes over. Furthermore, the melting rate increases with the inclination angle. The total energy stored in a PCM during melting remains constant, although the time needed to store that energy can be considerably influenced by the orientation of the cavity. © 2025 IEEE.

This study comprehensively examines the current state of deep learning (DL) usage in indoor *** emphasizes the significance and efficiency of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and recurrent neuralnetworks (RNNs). Unlike prior studies focused on single sensor modalities like Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, this researchexplores the integration of multiple sensor modalities (e.g.,Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Ultra-Wideband, ZigBee) to expandindoor localization methods, particularly in obstructed environments. It addresses the challenge of precise objectlocalization, introducing a novel hybrid DL approach using received signal information (RSI), Received SignalStrength (RSS), and Channel State Information (CSI) data to enhance accuracy and stability. Moreover, thestudy introduces a device-free indoor localization algorithm, offering a significant advancement with potentialobject or individual tracking applications. It recognizes the increasing importance of indoor positioning forlocation-based services. It anticipates future developments while acknowledging challenges such as multipathinterference, noise, data standardization, and scarcity of labeled data. This research contributes significantly toindoor localization technology, offering adaptability, device independence, and multifaceted DL-based solutionsfor real-world challenges and future advancements. Thus, the proposed work addresses challenges in objectlocalization precision and introduces a novel hybrid deep learning approach, contributing to advancing *** deep learning-based indoor localization techniques have improved accuracy, challenges likedata noise, standardization, and availability of training data persist. However, ongoing developments are expectedto enhance indoor positioning systems to meet real-world demands.

Content sharing in unstructured P2P networks, where there is no function to centrally manage content location information on the network, is executed by sending queries from a peer requesting content to its neighbors one after another. This causes a problem of large increase in network load. As a solution to this problem, a method has been proposed in which each peer keeps transmission records (TRs) of queries to efficiently direct queries. However, when a query is being guided through a TR and the link is broken due to peers leaving the system, the length of the search path increases until the system recognizes the broken link. In this paper, as a TR reference method, we focus on content possessing peers and propose a method for query guidance by referring to a newer TR to avoid using broken links. In the proposed method, the content possessing peer is recorded on each peer, and the TR to be referred to is determined based on the information. The effectiveness of the proposed method is evaluated by computer simulations and compared with the conventional methods. © 2022 ACM.

There has been a growing interest in using natural alternatives to synthetic additives in animal feed. This study aimed to examine the physicochemical properties of signal grass (Brachiaria decumbens) and its cost-benefit application in broiler production. The characterization was performed using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric/derivative thermogravimetry (TG/DTG), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). A feeding trial involving 216 Sasso broiler chicks was conducted to assess the economic value of including B. decumbens grass meal in their diets. The chicks were divided into six groups, with Treatments 1 and 2 serving as controls (without antibiotics and with oxytetracycline, respectively). Treatments 3 to 6 received diets supplemented with 1.25, 2.50, 3.75, and 5.00 g/kg of B. decumbens grass meal without antibiotics. Body weight and feed intake were monitored over eight weeks to determine growth performance and feed conversion ratio.
