Clustering algorithms are crucial in uncovering hidden patterns and structures within datasets. Among the density-based clustering algorithms, DBSCAN (Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise) has gained considerable attention for its effectiveness in various applications. However, determining appropriate parameter values for this algorithm remains a challenging task. This paper presents a novel methodology for eps parameter estimation for an improved DBSCAN, namely SS-DBSCAN. The experimental results across nine datasets demonstrate the efficacy of our proposed method in accurately determining clusters with eps value from SS-DBSCAN algorithm. The clusters identified using estimated eps values by SS-DBSCAN align well with the inherent structure of the datasets, yielding better cluster results than the manually set parameters and other methods used for automatic estimations of the eps for DBSCAN. Our approach adapted well to the peculiarities of each dataset, whether dealing with different scales, dimensions, or densities;it proved the versatility and robustness across various datasets, thereby emphasizing its generalizability and potential for broader applications. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper describes self-evaluation of several distance and e-Iearning courses of Samarkand branch of Tashkent University of Information Technologies (TUIT) in Uzbekistan. Teaching from distance and use of e-Iearning is one of key issue of the TUIT. Teaching learning from distance is the complex process which requires different kind of actors with own interests. The success of the distance and e-Iearning process depends on cooperation and collaboration of those actors. Therefore, e-Iearning needs to scientific evaluation method to measure success of teaching and learning. The evaluation process which describes in this paper is the first self-evaluation for distance and e-Iearning courses in the Samarkand branch of the TUIT. The structure-oriented evaluation (SURE) model is selected for basic evaluation model for this self-evaluation. The SURE model is originally developed for measure a success of e-Iearning. The data for evaluation is collected by volunteer-based contribution from students in cases of three selected courses. The collected data is processed by online tool of the SURE model. Final evaluation SURE score of the three courses were bigger than 0.80. However, this result has no comparison with other similar evaluation due to the lack of self-evaluation at the university. This confirms that self-evaluation of selected courses and further courses should continue in next studies. © 2024 IEEE.

The recovery of carbon fiber (CF) from wasted carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) composites and the reuse of CF have been also required in the resource recycling. The previous study of recovery CF using the torrefaction reported that 15-50 % reduction in tensile strength of recovered CF compared to virgin CF. It is necessary to develop the recovery technology of CF from CFRP without reducing tensile strength of recovered CF. In this study, we evaluate the applicability of pulsed discharge with instantaneous high energy releases as a novel approach, which is already known to be effective in separating cathode particles from aluminum foil of lithium-ion batteries (LiBs) based on our previous investigation. The separation of cathode particles was caused in the interface between the foil and particles by deactivating adhesive strength of binder which connected these due to the Joule heating of the foil generated by the current of discharge. The object of this study is to applicate pulsed discharge to recover CF without attaching polymer matrix from laminated CFRP with delaminating CFRP layers by loading discharge horizontally. The tested sample sizes of laminated CFRP were 100 mm length, 30 mm width and 8 mm thickness. Two electrodes of pulsed discharge were set on the surface of sample, and the electrode gap was 50 mm. The pulsed discharge with conditions of capacitor capacity of 80 μF, charging voltage of 10 kV and charging energy in the capacitor of 4000 J was performed in the water. The CFRP layer was peeled, and fibers about 20 mm length were also recovered by the discharge. The scanning electron microscope (SEM) images for recovered fibers indicated that fibers were without the adhesion of matrix resin. It was assumed that the separation mechanism of resin from CFRP was that the insulation breakdown in resin was caused by the discharge, and the resin was removed by the plasmatization with high temperature, resulting in the recovery of CF. Effect of Overload and Underload on Subsequent Deformation Behavior during Cyclic Deformation

A multi-scale analysis of elasto-plastic deformation and dislocation movement and accumulation of tricrystalline models during cyclic deformation was performed. The accumulation of dislocations in geometrically necessary dislocations (GNDs) and statistically stored dislocations (SSDs) was investigated in detail. Experimental observations have shown that fatigue life and fatigue crack propagation are also deteriorated when the material is subjected to overload or underload. However, in the microscopic and mesoscopic regions, where the effects of the crack tip shape change are not related to the size of the crack tip, a different phenomenon is essentially occurring. In this paper, the effects of overload and underload are investigated using a simple model without a crack. From the analysis results, it was found that the dislocation structure generated in the material subjected to overload or underload affects the subsequent deformation behavior. However, even though the absolute values are the same, the effects of overloading and underloading on the subsequent deformation are different, and underloading increases the non-uniformity of the subsequent deformation, which is on the dangerous side, while overloading decreases with increasing the number of repetitions. ©2022 The Society of Materials science, Japan

TEXCEL: text encryption with elliptic curve cryptography for enhanced security

Elliptic curve cryptography has emerged as a potent tool for safeguarding data communications. This research paper addresses the problem of traditional text encryption methods relying on shared code tables between senders and receivers. This reliance not only adds complexity but also increases the risk of security breaches and requires significant communication overhead. In the present paper, we introduce TEXCEL, an innovative, efficient and authenticated text encryption scheme. TEXCEL begins with a pioneering method for crafting a customized permuted ASCII table elevating cryptographic security by leveraging elliptic curve coordinates as keys. These coordinates serve as seeds for a random number generator ensuring reproducibility. Here, the technique used to map the characters of the message to a point on elliptic curve eliminates the traditional approach of sharing a code table between sender and receiver, thus reducing communication overhead. TEXCEL undergoes a thorough security analysis, including NIST evaluation, key and plaintext sensitivity, and resilience against common attacks like known-ciphertext, known-plaintext, chosen-plaintext, and chosen-ciphertext. To test and validate the proposed methodology, experimental results present that TEXCEL demonstrates plaintext sensitivity exceeding 98%, high randomness, and a robust key space. Additionally, encryption and decryption of a 5000-character text takes only 0.027 s and 0.007 s respectively, with a cipher size of 9.8 KB, ensuring both security and efficiency. Furthermore, as compared with the existing schemes, TEXCEL shows enhanced resilience against modern cryptanalysis and outperforms existing schemes with a 53.50% improvement in encryption time, 94.86% in decryption time, 53.31% in cipher data size and better plaintext sensitivity. Harmonic reducers(HRs) are widely used in various industrial fields due to its advantages of high precision, high transmission efficiency and compact structure. However, the vibration signal of the HRs are complex, making it difficult to diagnose faults accurately. In this paper, a method based on frequency domain Gramian angular field (FDG) and Deep residual network was proposed to classify the fault states of the HRs. First, the vibration signals were converted into twodimensional images using Gramian angular field (GAF) coding, and a two-dimensional discrete Fourier transform (2D-DFT) were performed to transform the images from the spatial domain to the frequency domain;The training accuracy of traditional models is not very high due to their low number of network layers. The deep residual network not only has a very deep network layer, but also can guarantee the accuracy of the model under certain conditions, so the deep residual network is introduced to train the model. Finally, experiments were designed using data from a real industrial HRs health monitoring platform to validate the proposed method. Under fixed operating conditions, the proposed method achieved an accuracy of 99%, which was an improvement of 0.3% compared to ResNet50, 3.5% compared to VGGNet-16, and 2.9% compared to the Swin-Tiny model. Under variable load conditions, it achieved an accuracy of 99.4%, an increase of 0.7% compared to ResNet50, 5.5% compared to VGGNet-16, and 5.6% compared to Swin-Tiny. Under variable speed conditions, it achieved an accuracy of 94.3%, an improvement of 0.9% compared to ResNet50, 0.1% compared to VGGNet-16, and 9.3% compared to Swin-Tiny. © 2023 IEEE.

A hashtag on X (Twitter) can attract a range of stakeholders with diverse perceptions on the hashtag. Under-standing and considering the differences between these stake-holders' perceptions on specific hashtags can be highly valuable for policy making in both public and private sectors. This paper proposes a framework to analyse the depth and width of the perception gap between stakeholders of a hashtag using sentiment analysis and zero-shot learning on large scale Twitter data. The framework was applied to the hashtag '#NDIS', the National Disability Insurance Scheme, Australia's pilot personalised disability service which provides funding to support people with disability. Over 155,000 tweets were collected and analysed to identify and assess the perception gap between the two most significant stakeholders (NDIS participants and service providers) on six main topics during the implementation of the NDIS. The study verified the effectiveness of the proposed framework, revealing a widespread perception gap between the two NDIS stakeholders, as well as differences in their online behaviours using Twitter. The results suggest that the NDIS policymakers and service providers should pay attention to the utilisation of social media, including hearing voice from the broader public and creating channels for transparent engagement with other NDIS stakeholders. © 2024 IEEE.

In recent years, the progress of VLSIs has caused an increase in the number of cell-internal defects in addition to signal line defects. In this paper, we focus on a fault where the transition on the output signal line of a cell is delayed in each input pattern combination of the gate due to cell-internal defects when the transition occurs on the output signal line of the cell. This fault model is called as a 2-cycle gate-exhaustive fault. In VLSI testing, high power consumption might occur because many faults are tested by a test vector from the view point of test cost reduction. However, high power consumption causes erroneous tests due to excessive IR drop, resulting in yield loss. Thus, this paper proposes a low power oriented multiple target test generation method for 2-cycle gate-exhaustive faults using pseudo Boolean optimization. © 2024 IEEE.
