Emotion recognition is vital in the human Computer interaction because it improves interaction. Therefore, this paper proposes an improved method for emotion recognition regarding the Hybrid Autoencoder-Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model and the newly developed hybrid approach of the Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) and Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA) for hyperparameters tuning. In this case, Autoencoder can reduce input data dimensionality for input data and find the features relevant for the model’s work. In addition, LSTM is able to work with temporal structures of sequential inputs like speech and videos. The contribution of this research lies in the novel combination method of ACO-WOA which aims at tweaking hyperparameters of Autoencoder-LSTM model. Global aspect of ACO and WOA thereby improve the search efficiency and the accuracy of the proposed emotion recognition system and its generalization capacity. In context with the benchmark dataset for the experimentations of emotion recognition, it has established the efficiency of the proposed model in terms of the conventional methods. Recall rates in recognitive intended various emotions and different modalities were also higher in the hybrid Autoencoder-LSTM model. The optimization algorithms like the ACO-WOA also supported in reducing the computational cost which arose due to hyperparameters tuning. The implementation of this paper is done through Python Software. This implementation shows a high accuracy of 94.12% and 95.94% for audio datasets and image datasets respectively when compared with other deep learning models of Conv LSTM and VGG16. Therefore, the research shows that the presented hybrid approach can be a useful solution for successfully employing emotion recognition for enhancing the creation of the empathetic AI systems and for improving user interactions within various fields including healthcare, entertainment, and customer support. © (2025), (science and Information Organization). The increase in population and the expansion of transportation, agriculture, and industry drive the need for energy, leading to a reliance on fossil fuels as the primary energy source. This reliance results in heightened greenhouse gas emissions and environmental damage. To address this, efforts have been made to harness the diverse range of available biomass for energy production, including gas, heat, and electricity through various conversion methods. This article explores the global availability of biomass for energy production, current energy consumption and production trends, biomass classifications and sources, conversion techniques, challenges hindering biomass implementation, and the potential of biomass as an alternative energy source alongside wind, geothermal, and hydroelectric power to eventually replace fossil fuels. The analysis indicates that biomass holds promise for energy generation and can complement other renewable resources in transitioning away from fossil fuels. The neuron doctrine defines the neuron as the basic unit of the nervous system, which drives the dynamic behavior of our organs. This has led to neurons becoming the focus of modern neuroscience research and to the rise of neurocomputing, in which we try to digitally simulate human behavior. The goal being to better understand the human nervous system and gain more control over neuron-related diseases, helping doctors establish faster and more reliable medical diagnoses. In this context, we aim to simulate eye diseases and vision problems by convolving input images using a new class of neural networks based on a variable structure model of neurons presented in [1]. In this work, we focus on recreating the common convolution filters as a first step. This is the first time in neurocomputing literature that dendritic neurons have been used for dynamic convolution kernels generation and eye diseases simulation. We start with a presentation of our upgrades to the model’s flexibility and accuracy. Then, we propose a novel kernel generator algorithm to convolve the input images. Finally, we show its promising results in creating the outline, pixelization, and night convolution kernels, as well as control some metrics, including brightness and data retention. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Light field cameras hold significant value in applications such as depth estimation, 3D video acquisition, and image super-resolution. Compared to traditional single-image super-resolution methods, light field images can capture object information from multiple spatial and angular perspectives, which is more conducive to capturing detail information. However, current advanced light field super-resolution models still exhibit issues like blurriness, jaggedness, and dimness in 4x light field super-resolution. To address this, we propose a novel light field super-resolution framework that utilizes the Retinex decomposition concept to solve common problems such as ghosting and overlap, thereby improving image quality. By decomposing the light field image into illumination and reflection components and processing them separately, our model significantly enhances detail preservation and color consistency. Experimental results on multiple datasets demonstrate that our model exhibits outstanding performance, both subjectively and objectively, highlighting the effectiveness of this framework and its broad application potential in the field of computational imaging. © 2025 SPIE.

Efficient adsorption and reduction of Au(III) to gold particles using cost-effective chitosan functionalized cellulose nanofiber

Precious metal demand was rising dramatically along with the growth of contemporary industry. However, the discharge of gold ions wastewater had caused environmental pollution and shortage of resources. Herein, using dialdehyde cellulose nanofiber (DACNF) as a cross-linking agent to immobilize chitosan (CS) was used to recover Au(III) from wastewater. The physicochemical characterization of the as-prepared adsorbents was performed by characterization methods. To investigate the adsorption performance of DACNF-CS for Au(III), a thorough investigation was conducted into the effects of pH, temperature, adsorption period, and starting concentration. The outcomes demonstrated that the adsorption process could be well described by the pseudo-second-order and Langmuir models, and the maximum adsorption capacity of DACNF-CS for Au(III) reached approximately 65.5 mg/g. The characterization analysis conformed that the Au(III) was adsorbed by an adsorption-reduction process. In order to facilitate the reduction of Au(III) to Au(0), Au(III) was first adsorbed on -NH2 groups by electrostatic attraction and chelation, which supplied an electron acceptor for the -OH groups. DACNF-CS was therefore a good option for recovering Au(III) from aqueous solutions because of its high efficiency, ease of production, and environmental friendliness. © The Author(s) 2025.

Since their discovery in 2011, MXenes stand out as a two-dimensional (2D) material, which is currently an emerging and most dynamically explored member of the family of 2D materials. Researchers have successfully synthesized over 30 distinct MXenes, with particular attention directed towards Ti-MXenes. In recent times, Nb-derived Nb2CTx and Nb4C3Tx MXenes have gained attention as stunning materials for widespread engineering applications owing to their unique attractive features. This study explores the electrocoagulation (EC) treatment of high-loaded gray water (HLGW), with the goal of optimizing operating parameters such as current densities (Cd) and EC time. Moreover, the research examines the kinetics involved in the removal of COD, color, and turbidity from HLGW. Various HLGW samples were treated at different current densities over a 90-min EC period. Kinetic analysis shows that COD removal follows a second-order model, while turbidity and color removal adhere to a pseudo-first-order model, with parameters dependent on Cd. The findings indicate that pollutant removal improves with longer EC treatment times and higher Cd values. At lower Cd levels, removal efficiencies for COD and color are relatively low, even with a 90-min EC treatment. However, at a higher Cd (20 mA/cm2), there is a substantial increase in removal efficiency, with 85% removal for both COD and color within the same duration. Turbidity is completely removed when the Cd is set to 10 mA/cm2 after 45 min of EC treatment. These results highlight that achieving high pollutant removal from HLGW requires high energy consumption. As a result, combining EC with other processes, either as a pre-treatment or post-treatment step, may address the challenges faced by standalone EC systems. Using response surface methodology (RSM), optimal operating conditions were determined, achieving pollutant removals of 76.4% for COD, 80.5% for color, and 98.5% for turbidity, with a minimum energy consumption of 5.07 kWh/m3 at an EC time of 44 min and a Cd of 15.5 mA/cm2. © The Author(s) 2025.

In the realm of modern aerospace communications, the integration of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) with Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellations can offer a transformative solution for enabling Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations. Due to initial safety operation demand of UAV BVLOS communication new metrics, this paper proposes a new quality of service (QoS) framework for uplink communication between IRIDIUM satellite constellation and UAV. The objective is to benchmark key QoS metrics for UAVLEO communications using a Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) narrowband (NB) channel. However, this study performs metrics such as latency and throughput across various elevation angles and environments. Different sample rates are evaluated to assess their impact on communication performance. Simulation analysis indicate that lower sample rates provide reduced latency and stable throughput suitable for telemetry, while higher sample rates increase throughput at the cost of higher latency. This study can be a road map for QoS metrics for optimizing satellite communication systems in UAV operations and demonstrates optimal communication for BVLOS missions in rural, suburban and underserved areas where ground infrastructure is limited. The findings are compared against current standards and regulatory benchmarks for validation.

This paper deals with the simulation calculation of the transmission (S21) parameter in a biomaterial calculated parametrically on the basis harvest waste (residues) as a function of the density, moisture and temperature of the material. Since this material is essentially wood, empirical and semi-empirical models are used to determine the electromagnetic parameters of the wood material as a function of the density, moisture and temperature of the material according to the available literature. The structural - geometric and environmental parameters of the material that are the subject of the research are: density, moisture and temperature of the material, and the electromagnetic parameters that "describe" them are: relative permittivity Εr, loss tangent tan δ and electrical conductivity σ. The simulation model is based on a system for measuring coupling parameters in free space, which consists of two antennas, between which a 600 × 600 mm sample of the biomaterial is placed, and a network analyzer. With increasing density and moisture significantly increases the relative dielectric constant, the loss tangent and the electrical conductivity of the measured biosamples. The temperature change in a wide temperature range (20 ℃–100 ℃) has no significant influence on the electromagnetic parameters.
