American Sign Language (ASL) recognition aims to recognize hand gestures, and it is a crucial solution to communicating between the deaf community and hearing people. However, existing sign language recognition algorithms still have some drawbacks, such as difficulty recognizing hand movements and low recognition accuracy for most sign language recognition. A Modified Convolutional Neural Network (MCNN) deep residual 101 classifier-based American Sign Language identification system has been developed to address this problem. There are three main parts presents in the method. The first part is pre-processing the images to remove the noise, enhance the contrast of the picture, adjust the contrast level and smoothen the picture using various filters. The second part is the segmentation, and it’s used to partition the image using a modified canny edge detection method by removing all weak edges present in the image. Finally, classification will be done using the Modified CNN deep residual 101 classifiers. By classifying the image, the American Sign Language is accurately identified. This process is conducted through images. The outcome shows that the suggested approach has a 0.97% accuracy and a 0.05% False Positive Rate. Other CNN architectures such as resNet 50 and resNet 18 reached 0.90% and 0.80% accuracy, respectively, which is lower than our proposed method. In addition, the resNet 101 classifier effectively recognizes the difficult hand gestures through the image data. It obtains high recognition accuracy for 36 signs is 0 to 9 numbers and a to z alphabets from American Sign Language. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Smart healthcare employs cloud computing, the Internet of Things (IoT), and supercomputers to manage the healthcare system. Medical data storage volume is increasing, necessitating the adoption of Machine Learning (ML) models for predicting outcomes, particularly in the treatment of chronic illnesses. The trend of care personalization and technological integration is highlighted by the development of ML applications for clinical decision support systems, including real-time predictive analytics. Predictive analytics applications employ ML and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to forecast patient risks, outcomes, and treatment responses. Predictive analytics is more important in healthcare when it comes to detecting Alzheimer's disease, cardiovascular events, radiology, and other conditions. Therefore, the current study highlights the change in illness identification, medical imaging, and personalized medication brought about by ML and Predictive Analytics in Precision Medicine (PM). However, ethical concerns and the deployment of transparent AI models still need more research. This study anticipates a time when healthcare will be quicker, better informed, and more patient-centered by using the insights provided by intelligent healthcare data. By effectively saving patient lives, the use of ML in healthcare ushers in a new era for the industry. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper delves into the transformative potential of ML in addressing some of the world's most pressing challenges in optimizing renewable energy and mitigating climate change. How ML algorithms work to improve efficiency within solar and wind energy systems, smart grids, and energy storage technologies is revealed by large data sets and predictive analytics. As ML improves the forecasting of energy, minimizes waste, and allows for better grid integration, its contribution to cutting carbon emissions significantly is immense. In addition, it facilitates climate adaptation by accurately predicting extreme weather occurrences and climate variability. Challenges facing the approach include data paucity, computational cost, and integration with older systems. Interdisciplinary collaboration and newer ML models tackle these challenges well. The study recognizes the significant role of machine learning in creating a sustainable environment and notes its ability to actually reconcile environmental, economic, and social objectives toward a robust and greener future. © 2025 IEEE.

This paper presents a comprehensive dataset of Egyptian roads integrated with chaotic scenarios captured by EGY-DRiVeS' lab golf car to aid in developing the autonomous driving experience. Using Velodyne 3D laser scanners, C922 Pro HD webcams, and iPhone 11 Pro cameras, a cumulative recording time of 3 hours and 48 minutes was documented. This included 1 hour and 15 minutes of LiDAR recordings, 1 hour and 45 minutes of camera recordings, and 48 minutes and 13 seconds of synced recordings. The dataset encompasses diverse scenarios and objects, ranging from urban environments with dynamic and static objects to rural highways. In-campus roads and intersections are also included, providing real-world scenarios such as vehicular and pedestrian behavior within campus premises. Each part of the dataset is annotated with 2D bounding boxes offering detailed information about vehicles, pedestrians and road objects. The provided data are calibrated, synchronized, and timestamped. Alongside the dataset, data format specifications, annotated data samples, and all supplementary recordings are provided upon request. © 2024 IEEE.

Higher education provides opportunities to many occupations, influencing one's career. Higher education admissions processes vary by country or university, from reviewing materials to admissions decisions. Different admissions philosophies may influence applicants' eligibility for higher education and admission versus choice of admission. However, the intense competition among hundreds of applicants has compelled universities to upgrade their recruitment procedures to accept students with exceptional potential. Data analysis procedures have been applied in many areas to extract valuable insights from available data. Many industries acquire, store, and analyze data to make strategic decisions and gain valuable knowledge. Data analytic has been applied in the education industry to facilitate improved decisions in various sectors, including the development of tailored and dynamic learning programs, the enhancement of grading systems, and the prediction of a student's optimal future career. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to apply data analytics to facilitate a data-driven decision process based on prospective and current student data. The academic performance of current engineering students in both university and high school is analyzed in this study. Since there are 13 engineering programs considered, the different environmental settings of schools or engineering programs are also taken into account. Additionally, the impact of COVID-19 on the teaching and learning process in recent years was considered. The results were used to enhance the first-year engineering academic support program and evaluate the effectiveness of the current admissions procedure. © 2023 The Authors.

The rise of cryptocurrencies as a major economic factor has drawn interest from both individual investors and regulators. This has led researchers to explore new ways to predict cryptocurrency volatility. This research proposes a new approach for more accurately predicting the conditional variance of cryptocurrencies while previous research did not investigate cross-correlation among cryptocurrency mean and volatility landscapes. This research precisely uses a method to select the most relevant features based on the cross-correlation between price, returns, and volatility. Experiments on eight cryptocurrencies that have the largest market capacity from 2018 to 2024 show that this approach is effective. By considering stronger cross-correlation when choosing the data used for volatility prediction using LSTM, the research substantially reduces the error of prediction. The findings of this research can be used to predict the volatility of other cryptocurrencies and the stock markets. © 2024 IEEE.

Predicting vehicles' motion on highways has become crucial for enhancing road safety and traffic flow. Deep learning, which reached exceptional results in various applications, is now the leading approach for vehicle motion prediction. This work presents a deep learning-based model using Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks to classify vehicle intentions into lane-keeping, left lane-changing, and right lane-changing. Utilizing the PREVENTION dataset, which provides naturalistic driving data, a sequence of centre points, longitudinal distances, lateral distances and yaw angles of a vehicle has been extracted to train the model to predict lane changes effectively. The model consists of three LSTM layers, a dense output layer and a drop out added between layers to prevent overfitting. Experiments focusing on optimizing the model parameters, learning rate, sequence length, and batch size, were conducted to determine their impact on prediction effectiveness. The best-performing model showed significant results in lane changing prediction, achieving an accuracy of 84%, precision of 89%, and recall of 82%. Future work will aim to train the model on more complex features, to account for vehicle inter-dependencies and interactions, and test model on various highway scenarios for a more reliable system. © 2024 IEEE.

Fundamentally new possibilities of Optimization Theory technologies are analyzed in solving the problem of simple, highly reliable decoding of digital data when transmitted over channels with high noise. Patented fast versions of multithreshold decoders for satellite communication systems are noted. These algorithms are compared with others in classical digital channels according to the triune criterion of 'noise immunity-reliability-complexity'. The need to solve various computational problems within the framework of applied coding theory is noted. To do this, it is proposed to use methods from the theory of global functional optimization. It is indicated that appropriate optimization software of various types has been created and can be actively used for the design of decoders for satellite communication systems and for further research. © 2024 IEEE.
