The serverless approach provides a completely new way of developing cloud services, service scalability, and elasticity by utilizing the container-level virtualization and abstraction. In this paper, we present a use case of an application that processes streaming electrocardiograms by implementing the Function as a Service approach. Several experiments are conducted to evaluate the scalability and elasticity performance by checking the following hypothesis: The system will be highly scalable keeping the same response time and throughput, for up to 7000 data streams. To check the validity of the hypothesis we will provide an experimental research on the following research questions to analyze the performance behaviour of response and throughput with the increased load of parallel data streams testing the following cases: A) Function that will generate a variable number of data streams, B) Functions that are invoked sequentially, and C) Functions that are invoked in parallel. Our use case proved that system scales horizontally and satisfies all requests. When the workload has linearly increased the system has linearly increased throughput and results in a similar response time for each individual request. © 2022 Croatian Society MIPRO.

The process of handwriting recognition aims to digitize handwriting without having to retype handwriting. This study proposes the extraction of Eccentricity and roundness features based on K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) to recognize handwriting. To maximize the process of recognition is done several stages of preprocessing stages such as thresholding, noise filtering, and cropping stage to take every character on handwriting image. Each image that has been through the preprocessing process is further extracted features. Eccentricity and metric are the features of the extracted form of each image to be recognized. After obtained the two features are then carried out the training process to group the feature form on each type of letter. Next, KNN is used to classify each letter character. Based on the results of testing the proposed method for recognition of handwriting characters obtained an accuracy of 85.38%. © 2018 IEEE.

Neural networks have become a leading model in modern machine learning, able to model even the most complex data. For them to be properly trained, however, a lot of computational resources are required. With the carbon footprint of ever-growing adoption of neural networks in mind, an approach to reduce the required training resources would be very welcome. We designed a new training effort reduction method based on the calculation of area under the normalized loss curve and assessed it on the electricity consumption forecasting problem with the recurrent neural networks. The results show that the proposed method was able to considerably reduce the amount of computational resources, while maintaining the predictive performance, and thus contributing towards the Green AI. © 2024 IEEE.

There is much biodiversity on this earth, some of it utilized for foodstuff and medicine. In Indonesia, some plants are utilized either in traditional or modern medicine, such as the Ziziphus mauritiana. All this time, to find out the types of Ziziphus mauritiana by using simple methods or only seeing them directly, many people cannot distinguish the type of this plant. Additionally, many methods have been proposed to identify plant types using digital pictures, but the accuracy results are still below 85% because the research carried out only utilizes texture features or shape features. In this research, the method utilized is a backpropagation neural network based on texture and shape on the GLCM features of these plants accurately.. © 2021 IEEE.

Hybrid electric vehicles are one of the most effective solutions to improve our environment, one of few such products that are available at the mass-market and also accepted by the customers. With the improved energy storage systems and control algorithms, hybrid vehicles can further gain on the applicability and consequently on the popularity. In this paper, a design and control of the elements of the hybrid vehicle propulsion system, with an emphasis on supercapacitor as the peak energy storage unit, is presented. The propulsion system is dimensioned for light delivery vehicle. In order to simplify design and testing, a laboratory test rig was built rather than using the complete vehicle. Trough simulations and experiments a significant improvement of the properties of energy storage system is confirmed after adding the supercapacitor to the battery. The experiments also confirm the advantages of energy flow management based on the stabilization of the common DC bus voltage. © 2012 IEEE.

The need for quality images affects the large storage requirements and difficulties in transmission. Compression is a solution to the efficiency of storage and transmission. The Wavelet technique has the potential of providing high-quality compression. In this study, several wavelets from the Daubechies family were applied in image compression. Measurement of compression ratio, Mean Square Error (MSE), and peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) determine the 'acceptability' of the compression. Our test with the 'Lena' image found that the compression ratio based on all wavelets gave almost identical results, but the db2 wavelet gave the smallest compression ratio and db36 gave the largest compression ratio. In terms of fidelity, DB5 gives the best results. © 2020 IEEE.

Background: Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is a Software application which gives the facility to monitor the traffic of network, event or activities on network and finds out any malicious operation if present. Objective: In this paper, a new protocol was developed that can detect the Wireless Network Attack based on the reference of TCP/IP Model. In the proposed system the new feature is integrated in the IDS which are built in the router itself. Methods: If any intruder tries to connect with router, intruder has to authenticate himself/herself. To find the authentication key the intruder attacks on the router to matches the authentication key with the key which he/she has. The intruder has a file with the multiple different keys in it and with that file intruder applies a brute-force attack on the router, the brute-force checks every key of the file by applying them on the router when a key matches with the authenticated key the brute-force software inform the intruder about the key matching. The IDS of the router will checks the rapid tries arriving from the same MAC address, if any MAC address tries the false key many of time than the IDS will identify the MAC as intruder and inform the system administrator about the intrusion by popping up a message on the system of the administrator. Results: Simulation of the two different scenarios is done by using the Network simulator (NS 2) and NAM (Network animator). In scenario 1 the node 1 is intruder and the IDS protocols have figure it out. The intruder is labeled as 2. In scenario 2 node 1 is the sentinel node and it gets connected to router after authentication. Conclusion: The mechanism can detect a false node in the network which is major threat in WSNs. Result has been evaluated the performance of IDS protocol by using Ad-hoc On Demand Distance Vector (AODV) Routing Protocol for routing. © 2021 Bentham science Publishers.

Virtualization of network infrastructure or its part by data centers (DC) provides flexible management of network topology and functions in real time. This method allows to get rid of the excess costs of expensive equipment and network service. Approaches to the development of engineering infrastructure of DC are changed followed the changes in the IT services model, the growth of computing power and increasing requirements for energy efficiency.
