The maritime industry plays a key role in the global supply chain. Advanced digital technologies bring significant economic benefits to ports and shipowners, but at the same time increase the risks of cyber threats and attacks. This article aims to provide guidelines and examples of good practice that will help in the effective implementation of cyber risk assessment, cyber resilience and cyber sustainability, which are the products of increasingly pronounced challenges. The interconnection of ports requires operators to achieve and maintain a baseline level of cybersecurity to ensure security across the entire port ecosystem. The development of new technologies in areas such as the Internet of Things, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, etc., contributes to the fact that monitoring and control systems in the maritime industry are becoming increasingly exposed to cyber threats and various forms of cyberattacks. The connection of vessels with systems on land in real time presents a necessary element in meeting the intended goals in the digital transformation of the maritime sector. This results in increasingly frequent work on specific software solutions within the maritime sector. With the adoption of new operational technologies (OT) and information technologies (IT), the desire for more efficient supply chains and operations of shipping in general has been realized, but at the same time the level of cybersecurity has decreased. The research results aim to encourage port operators and shippers to develop a series of good practices in order to develop an appropriate level of cybersecurity, resilience, and sustainability. © 2025 by the authors.

Anxiety disorders (ADs) affect roughly one in ten people in the UK, and this number is expected to increase, intensifying the need for innovation. Digital technologies such as affective computing (AC, technology to detect human emotions) could foster a more patient-centric approach, enhancing therapy adherence and optimizing clinician-patient interactions. This paper reviews the literature relevant to the integration of affective computing in clinical pathways for ADs. A search was conducted on Google Scholar and PubMed using the keywords "affective computing" and subtypes of anxiety disorders. A total of 355 results were filtered to focus on peer-reviewed articles that specifically addressed emotion recognition in pathological anxiety as opposed to simply feeling anxious. Findings underscore prevalent studies focusing on posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and the widespread use of valence and arousal for emotion quantification. Various approaches for both eliciting and detecting emotions are explored, offering technical and practical insights. Diverse applications, from monitoring treatment progression in behavioral therapies to assessing the efficiency of deep brain stimulation for intractable obsessive-compulsive disorder, highlight affective computing's versatility and promise. A significant advantage of digital technologies is their potential to capture longitudinal and contextualized data beyond clinical confines. Such assessments elucidate patients' daily challenges and triggers, enabling tailored interventions. The literature suggests that AC has the potential to support mental healthcare and improve patient outcomes. However, further evidence of its effective benefits is required, especially for ADs beyond PTSD, and further exploration of its implementation in clinical pathways is needed. © 2025 by SCITEPRESS – Science and Technology Publications, Lda.

Brain over Brawn: Using a Stereo Camera to Detect, Track, and Intercept a Faster UAV by Reconstructing the Intruder's Trajectory

This paper presents our approach to intercepting a faster intruder UAV, inspired by the MBZIRC 2020 Challenge 1. By utilizing a priori knowledge of the shape of the intruder's trajectory, we can calculate an interception point. Target tracking is based on image processing by a YOLOv3 Tiny convolutional neural network, combined with depth calculation using a gimbal-mounted ZED Mini stereo camera. We use RGB and depth data from the camera, devising a noise-reducing histogram-filter to extract the target's 3D position. Obtained 3D measurements of target's position are used to calculate the position, orientation, and size of a figure-eight shaped trajectory, which we approximate using a Bernoulli lemniscate. Once the approximation is deemed sufficiently precise, as measured by the distance between observations and estimate, we calculate an interception point to position the interceptor UAV directly on the intruder's path. Our method, which we have significantly improved based on the experience gathered during the MBZIRC competition, has been validated in simulation and through field experiments. Our results confirm that we have developed an efficient, visual-perception module that can extract information describing the intruder UAV's motion with precision sufficient to support interception planning. In a majority of our simulated encounters, we can track and intercept a target that moves 30% faster than the interceptor. Corresponding tests in an unstructured environment yielded 9 out of 12 successful results.

In this paper we present our hardware design and control approaches for a mobile manipulation platform used in Challenge 2 of the MBZIRC 2020 competition. In this challenge, a team of UAVs and a single UGV collaborate in an autonomous, wall-building scenario, motivated by construction automation and large-scale robotic 3D printing. The robots must be able, autonomously, to detect, manipulate, and transport bricks in an unstructured, outdoor environment. Our control approach is based on a state machine that dictates which controllers are active at each stage of the Challenge. In the first stage our UGV uses visual servoing and local controllers to approach the target object without considering its orientation. The second stage consists of detecting the object's global pose using OpenCV-based processing of RGB-D image and point-cloud data, and calculating an alignment goal within a global map. The map is built with Google Cartographer and is based on onboard LIDAR, IMU, and GPS data. Motion control in the second stage is realized using the ROS Move Base package with Time-Elastic Band trajectory optimization. Visual servo algorithms guide the vehicle in local object-approach movement and the arm in manipulating bricks. To ensure a stable grasp of the brick's magnetic patch, we developed a passively-compliant, electromagnetic gripper with tactile feedback. Our fully-autonomous UGV performed well in Challenge 2 and in post-competition evaluations of its brick pick-and-place algorithms.

The "Interbank Fund Transfer Liability Management System" seeks to simplify interbank financial transfers, strengthen security, and lower risks. Border Gateway Protocol(BGP),as the standard inter-domain routing protocol,is a distance-vector dynamic routing protocol used for exchanging routing information between distributed Autonomous Systems(AS).BGP nodes,communicating in a distributed dynamic environment,face several security challenges,with trust being one of the most important issues in inter-domain *** research,which performs trust evaluation when exchanging routing information to suppress malicious routing behavior,cannot meet the scalability requirements of BGP *** this paper,we propose a blockchain-based trust model for inter-domain *** model achieves scalability by allowing the master node of an AS alliance to transmit the trust evaluation data of its member nodes to the *** BGP nodes can expedite the trust evaluation process by accessing a global view of other BGP nodes through the master node of their respective *** incorporate security service evaluation before direct evaluation and indirect recommendations to assess the security services that BGP nodes provide for themselves and prioritize to guarantee their security of routing *** forward the trust evaluation for neighbor discovery and prioritize the nodes with high trust as neighbor nodes to reduce the malicious exchange routing *** use simulation software to simulate a real BGP environments and employ a comparative experimental research approach to demonstrate the performance evaluation of our trust *** with the classical trust model,our trust model not only saves more storage overhead,but also provides higher security,especially reducing the impact of collusion attacks.

American Sign Language (ASL) recognition aims to recognize hand gestures, and it is a crucial solution to communicating between the deaf community and hearing people. However, existing sign language recognition algorithms still have some drawbacks, such as difficulty recognizing hand movements and low recognition accuracy for most sign language recognition. A Modified Convolutional Neural Network (MCNN) deep residual 101 classifier-based American Sign Language identification system has been developed to address this problem. There are three main parts presents in the method. The first part is pre-processing the images to remove the noise, enhance the contrast of the picture, adjust the contrast level and smoothen the picture using various filters. The second part is the segmentation, and it’s used to partition the image using a modified canny edge detection method by removing all weak edges present in the image. Finally, classification will be done using the Modified CNN deep residual 101 classifiers. By classifying the image, the American Sign Language is accurately identified. This process is conducted through images. The outcome shows that the suggested approach has a 0.97% accuracy and a 0.05% False Positive Rate. Other CNN architectures such as resNet 50 and resNet 18 reached 0.90% and 0.80% accuracy, respectively, which is lower than our proposed method. In addition, the resNet 101 classifier effectively recognizes the difficult hand gestures through the image data. It obtains high recognition accuracy for 36 signs is 0 to 9 numbers and a to z alphabets from American Sign Language. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

In this paper, we study measures arising as a result of the Choquet integration with respect to a particular class of measures. The initial insight is provided with several classes of additive and fuzzy measures. It can be seen that some classes are closed regarding the integration, e.g. probabilities, while some are not, such as distorted Lebesgue measures. Knowing both an integration measure and a resulting measure after the Choquet integration directly leads to a fuzzy analogue of the Radon-Nikodym derivatives. For them, a completely different possible approach to their existence is presented for a specific pair of measures. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

We present a third version of the PraK system designed around an effective text-image and image-image search model. The system integrates sub-image search options for localized context search for CLIP and image color/texture and interfaces tailored to specific task types. A user study shows the benefits of sub-image search in homogeneous video collections. Feature selection is a cornerstone in advancing the accuracy and efficiency of predictive models, particularly in nuanced domains like socio-economic analysis. This study explores nine distinct feature selection methods, utilizing a heart disease dataset as a representative model for complex socio-economic systems. Our findings identified four universally recognized features as critical across all selection methods. However, the divergence in significance attributed to other features by different methods underscores the inherent variability in selection techniques. When the top four features were incorporated into twelve classification models, a noticeable surge in predictive accuracy was observed, emphasizing their foundational role in enhancing model outcomes. The variations among methods stress the need for a methodical and discerning approach to feature selection, especially in data-rich socio-economic landscapes. As we venture further into an era defined by data-driven decision-making, rigour and precision in feature selection become indispensable. Future research should extend this approach to broader datasets, ensuring the robustness and adaptability of our findings. © The author(s) 2025.
