The prevalence of social media and mobile computing has led to intensive user engagement in the emergent Cyber-Physical-Social-Thinking(CPST)***,the easy access,the lack of governance,and excessive use has generated a raft of new behaviors within CPST,which affects users’physical,social,and mental *** this paper,we conceive the Cyber-Syndrome concept to denote the collection of cyber disorders due to excessive or problematic Cyberspace interactions based on CPST *** we characterize the Cyber-Syndrome concept in terms of Maslow’s theory of Needs,from which we establish an in-depth theoretical understanding of Cyber-Syndrome from its etiology,formation,symptoms,and ***,we propose an entropy-based Cyber-Syndrome control mechanism for its computation and *** goal of this study is to give new insights into this rising phenomenon and offer guidance for further research and development.

Understanding the causes, effects, and detection / mitigation methods of side-channel attacks (SCAs) is essential in providing a secure environment. Current studies into SCAs have focused on Intel microarchitecture and Apple Silicon chips (such as M1 and M2) have been left under-represented in the research literature. The aim of this paper is to identify a gap in microarchitectural research of M1 and M2 Apple chips. The long-term objective of this research is to apply the Unified Side Channel Attack - Model (USCA-M) four-phase testing process to identify the critical components used within the exploit and at a low-level catch the Hardware Performance Counter (HPC) events of M1 and M2 chips.

All new buildings are currently being built in a way that minimizes primary energy consumption (energy from utility networks) while increasing their percentage of renewable energy sources (RES). The levelized cost of electricity has been rapidly decreasing due to newer, more efficient and cheaper technologies, which to some extent can compete with conventional generation units. Hence, the usage of electrical storage has raised a great interest of both academics and professionals. Furthermore, studies have shown that buildings with electrical storage can reduce electricity bills while increasing self-consumption of onsite Renewable Energy Generation (REG).The SI can serve as a guide to specific problems of Building Energy Management, by presentation of ideas, methods and results related to energy optimization. This could include studies related to convex mathematical optimization or any other technique for reducing energy consumption in buildings, such as in real-time and through storage, with or without integrated RES. Techniques such as Genetic Algorithms, Artificial Neural Networks, Machine Learning can be integrated to this *** SI points to the development of new mathematical methods and computational algorithms, as well as the application of new or existing methods to problem solving in this research area. These include experimental studies in combination with numerical/computational work, where assessing the accuracy of computational solutions through verification and validation is *** relevant to this SI include: Optimization of the integration of RES in buildings; optimized dispatch of battery energy for managing energy consumption profiles within buildings; achieving energy targets of nearly Zero Energy Buildings (nZEBs), using RES and battery, in real-time, once the building is inhabited and used; Demand Side Management (DSM) and Demand Response (DR) for managing the nZEBs' energy, in real-time, once the building is inhabited and used.T

Authentication is an important step for many applications eg. banking, communications etc. Identity theft can happen because the systems that we use are vulnerable to observation attacks both by a person (shoulder surfing) and also video recordings. Thus authentication methods that rely on the visual channel alone, which are displayed onscreen are more susceptible to shoulder surfing. In this paper, a review of haptic and audio authentication methods is presented where we describe and analyse various methods that utilise non-visual channels, namely haptic and audio, for authentication. We categorise the methods into the categories of recall, recognition and challenge-response. We focus on the security aspects of the methods, comparing the susceptibility of the methods to various attacks. The review indicates that most haptic and audio methods are less susceptible to observation attacks and intersection attacks. © 2022 Institute for Mathematical Research (INSPEM). A Cross-Domain Ontology Semantic Representation Based on NCBI-BlueBERT Embedding

A common but critical task in biological ontologies data analysis is to compare the difference between ontologies. There have been numerous ontologybased semantic-similarity measures proposed in specific ontology domain, but it still remains a challenge for crossdomain ontologies comparison. An ontology contains the scientific natural language description for the corresponding biological aspect. Therefore, we develop a new method based on natural language processing(NLP) representation model bidirectional encoder representations from transformers(BERT) for cross-domain semantic representation of biological ontologies. This article uses the BERT model to represent the word-level of the ontologies as a set of vectors, facilitating the semantic analysis or comparing the biomedical entities named in an ontology or associated with ontology terms. We evaluated the ability of our method in two experiments: calculating similarities of pair-wise disease ontology and human phenotype ontology terms and predicting the pair-wise of proteins interaction. The experimental results demonstrated the comparative performance. This gives promise to the development of NLP methods in biological data analysis.

The Sustainable Monitoring & Advanced Real-Time Energy Efficiency (SMARTEE) project addresses the critical challenge of optimizing energy management in pharmaceutical manufacturing through an Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT)-based submetering solution. This study presents the design and deployment of a tailored IoT system, integrating IoT-enabled submeters, a Mini-PC gateway, and cloud-based analytics for continuous, real-time energy consumption monitoring across critical equipment such as chillers, boilers, and HVAC systems. Following a systematic methodology, the project implemented advanced data acquisition and communication protocols, including Modbus over RS485, Node-RED for data processing, and MQTT for transmitting energy metrics to a cloud-based visualization platform. Results demonstrated the system’s efficacy in delivering actionable insights into energy patterns, significantly improving operational efficiency and waste reduction. The IoT-based solution is highly scalable, adaptable to various industrial contexts, and provides a secure platform for real-time monitoring. This work highlights the potential of IoT in transforming industrial energy management, with future research focusing on AI-driven predictive analytics and seamless integration with renewable energy systems to enhance sustainability and resilience further. © The Author(s) 2025.

Because of degradations of the wired infrastructure connecting the element of railroad control systems, and related primarily to their destruction, the use of the radio transmission medium for independent management of railroad traffic control devices is increasingly being considered. An undoubted problem in implying such solutions is the security of transmission in such systems. It should be noted that security at a certain level of transmission is currently already offered by the radio transmission systems themselves, which has also been used in the GSM-R standard. The creation of a separate dedicated system for railroads involves huge expenditures for the design, testing, certification and, finally, construction and implementation of such technology. Therefore, in the opinion of the author of this dissertation, it is possible to use public open radio networks for the needs of railroads, which significantly reduces costs, since such a system is based on existing infrastructure. It is necessary to develop a way of transmitting information that meets the requirements of secure transmission in the sense of railroad traffic control systems. The task is to develop a general model for open radio transmission in traffic control systems based on the latest public radio standard, which is LTE, 5G or Future Railway Mobile Communications System (FRMCS). The article will present the concept of data transmission in the track – vehicle relationship with the use of LTE (Long Term Evolution) technology. It will show the concept of transmission based on the PNEN50159:2011 standard and the results of the tests conducted during control trips on the railway route. The main element that will be subject to the research will include the transmission safety and its delay. Current trend projected the global population to increase to 9 billion by the year 2050 which will increase the demand of food production by around 70%. The agricultural sector also supplies produce to bio-based products such as bioenergy and bioplastics which is also increasing the demand for crops. However, the situation is not as simple as planting more crops, as current agricultural practices are not sustainable. Environmental impact and climate changes could be reduced with the utilization of indoor farming could bring about a more sustainable farming solution. Combined with the utilization of precision farming solutions such as IoT based sensors and robotic systems indoor farming could become the next step in sustainable farming. The implementation of precision farming in indoor farming comes with its problems which may cause a challenge in the development and deployment period. This paper serves as the preliminary research for the development of a robotic system to be deployed at Sarawak’s Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC)’s greenhouse.

Designing and developing distributed cyber-physical production systems(CPPS)is a time-consuming,complex,and error-prone *** systems are typically heterogeneous,i.e.,they consist of multiple components implemented with different languages and development *** of the main problems nowadays in CPPS implementation is enabling security mechanisms by design while reducing the complexity and increasing the system’s *** the IEC 61499 standard is an excellent approach to tackle these challenges by enabling the design,deployment,and management of CPPS in a model-based engineering *** propose a method for CPPS design based on the IEC 61499 *** method allows designers to embed a bio-inspired anomaly-based host intrusion detection system(A-HIDS)in Edge *** A-HIDS is based on the incremental Dendritic Cell Algorithm(iDCA)and can analyze OPC UA network data exchanged between the Edge devices and detect attacks that target the CPPS’Edge *** study’s findings have practical implications on the industrial security community by making novel contributions to the intrusion detection problem in CPPS considering immune-inspired solutions,and cost-effective security by design system *** to the experimental data,the proposed solution can dramatically reduce design and code complexity while improving application maintainability and successfully detecting network attacks without negatively impacting the performance of the CPPS Edge devices.
