The development of the energy management systems (EMS) improves the energy efficiency of vehicular systems, control operational factors and behavior of electromechanical components by appropriating machine learning and IoT techniques, making the systems more intelligent, sustainable, and interconnected. Specially, the inclusion of technology such as Industry 4.0 have allowed to improve the range of operation, control and optimization of autonomous vehicles. In fact, EMS have become relevant with the emergence of electrical vehicles (EV's) and are proposed as an alternative to minimize dependence on fossil fuels, mitigation of negative ecological impacts, increase safety, also suggest efforts to achieve new energy sources, charge stations, decisions about final disposal of components and life cycle prediction which can be summed up in the need for more technological coverage. This article aims to show the framework about the EMS based on concepts, differences, advantages and disadvantages of the EV's. © 2023 IEEE.

In Bali, the high volume of tourists significantly contributes to marine debris, particularly plastics, which threatens the ecological health of beaches and marine life, impacting both tourism and local livelihoods. Effective management is crucial to preserve Bali's natural beauty and sustainability. This study explores the factors influencing the willingness to participate (WTP) in marine debris management among urban communities in the Bali metropolitan area, Indonesia. Utilizing a binary logistic regression model, we examine the impact of key elements for effective marine debris management, risk awareness, learning performance, and higher monthly income and geographic differences between inland and coastal communities. The findings reveal that effective management practices significantly enhance community participation, highlighting the importance of transparency, accountability, and well-organized efforts. Educational initiatives also play a crucial role, with performance in risk awareness and learning showing a marginally significant positive effect on WTP. Conversely, higher income levels negatively influence participation, suggesting a preference for institutional funding over personal contributions. Geographic differences indicate that coastal communities are more inclined to participate than inland communities. These insights provide valuable guidance for policymakers and practitioners in developing strategies to mobilize volunteers, enhance urban resilience, and promote social well-being. By implementing effective management practices, comprehensive educational programs, tailored engagement strategies, and fostering partnerships, urban communities in Bali can become more resilient and actively address environmental challenges. © 2024 The Authors

Polyvinyl Chloride plastic waste is becoming an increasingly urgent global environmental issue. Combustion PVC plastic waste can have significant negative impacts on human health. To overcome these problems, this research was conducted by utilizing zeolite as an adsorbent for PVC combustion smokes. The research methodology is zeolite activation, adsorber design and gas adsorption process through dry adsorption method which is the core of this research. This study will evaluate oxygen concentration and soot emissions. Before being given a zeolite adsorbent, the oxygen concentration produced in PVC combustion smokes was only 17.2% with high soot levels as evidenced by the blackened smoke color. Furthermore, after being given an adsorbent in the form of activated zeolite as much as 283.5 grams, the oxygen concentration produced increased significantly to 20.9% followed by a decrease in soot emission levels as evidenced by changes in the color of whitened smoke. Based on the test results related to the increase in oxygen concentration and the decrease in soot emission levels, it can be concluded that activated zeolite has a high effectiveness in carrying out the PVC combustion smoke adsorption process by producing particles of carbon and oxygen within the normal threshold in the air. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Effect of 105 MeV gold ion irradiation on dielectric properties of PVC/PVDF@BaZrO3 nanohybrid thin film

The PVC/PVDF@BaZrO3 nanohybrid thin films were prepared by solution grown method. The dielectric constant of the films was higher due to BaZrO3 incorporation in the PVC/PVDF matrix. The PVDF and PVC/PVDF nanohybrid films were irradiated with 105 MeV Au2+ ion beam under vacuum condition at room temperature with two ion fluence. The irradiated thin film of PVC/PVDF@BaZrO3 exhibits relatively low dielectric constant with low loss at different temperature because of thermodynamic stability of β-phase. However, almost complete amorphization was observed in BaZrO3 filler in PVC/PVDF@BaZrO3 nanohybrid samples. After being irradiated with a 105 MeV Au2+ ion beam, the (ϵ′) dielectric constant, FTIR and SEM parameters were used to evaluate changes in dielectric and structural properties for all the samples. In FTIR spectra, new peaks appeared at 1705 cm−1, disappeared or minutely shifted due to high energy of ion beam. It is interesting to note that BaZrO3 phase becomes amorphized through 105 MeV Au2+ ion irradiation that causes an increased dielectric constant along with cross-linking effect of nanohybrid films. © 2023 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

In the field of computer science, expert systems have attracted many computer scientists. In recent years, expert systems have been widely used in the medical field, particularly for diagnosing and treating various diseases, especially prostate cancer. Reality has shown that expert systems hold great promise for accurate diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. This research summarizes several studies related to the application of artificial intelligence in the field of prostate cancer through bibliometric analysis and explores potential future research. Articles and reviews on the application of expert systems in prostate cancer from 2015 to 2022 were selected from the PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science databases. Microsoft Excel 2019 and GraphPad Prism 8 were used for target variable analysis. A total of 37 articles were selected for this research. Research on artificial intelligence in prostate cancer has grown exponentially in recent years, particularly in Indonesia. Image data usage is more predominant (62%) than numerical data types in prostate cancer research. Artificial intelligence research in prostate cancer, especially in the field of treatment cases, and the use of Deep Neural Network (DNN), Human Neural Network (HNN), Fully Convolutional Network (FCN), QT Environment for C++, Artificial Neural Network (ANN) algorithms, are highly feasible for further research. © 2023 IEEE.

Solar radiation is a varied source of energy, and the mismatch between the availability of these sources and domestic energy demand is a major challenge that must be faced. Energy storage system can be considered as effective solution to overcome the challenge in solar energy utilization. In this work, a thermal box was prepared as energy storage testing apparatus by using a 5W lamp as the heat source located at the center of the box. In the middle of thermal box, the sample of phase change material (PCM) was placed and monitored in order to find out the charging and discharging characteristics. The purpose of this study was to investigate the charging and discharging performance of NaCl–KCl eutectic salt at various ratios. The specific heat capacity and density of all PCM samples were also tested during this investigation. The changes in temperature were observed through type-k thermocouple sensors equipped with data logger. In general, it can be concluded that reducing KCl portion in PCM slightly decreases the specific heat capacity. Experiment results showed that PCM-1 (eutectic salt with 30 wt% NaCl–70 wt% KCl) has the highest specific heat capacity, i.e., 6.93 J/g˚C. The highest rate of charging and discharging was exhibited by PCM-1, highlighting a positive effect of KCl content in eutectic salt. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

The experiment was carried out by growing BaTiO3 (Undoped or Li-doped) on p-type Si(1 0 0) substrates using the Chemical Solution Deposition (CSD) method and spin coating at a rotational speed of 3000 rpm for 60 s, followed by heating at 850 °C. The characterization results show that the bandgap energy value of the thin film due to lithium doping reduces the bandgap energy value. This is presumably because the donor atom added to a semiconductor causes the allowable energy level to be slightly below the conduction band. The presence of this new band causes the thin film bandgap energy to decrease with a five-valent tantalum dip. The morphological properties showed that the BaTiO3/Si(1 0 0) thin film particles in the deposited lithium had a fairly homogeneous grain. With the addition of lithium acetate as a binder into barium titanate, the grain size is getting smaller because it is suspected that the lithium-ion radius is smaller than the barium-ion radius. Measurement of I-V on the thin film shows that the output voltage value increases with more light intensity hitting the surface of the thin film. The greater the light intensity, the greater the energy of the photons, so the electrons are easier to jump. The three things above (both electrical and morphological properties) conclude that the thin films grown have the potential for photovoltaics. © 2023

Dry-season sources of riverine sediment from the tropical mixed urban-agricultural watershed of the Mun River Basin in northeastern Thailand

Northeastern(NE) Thailand is well recognized as the land for rice cropping and consequently, it is potentially contaminated with chemicals from soil fertilization, pest/weed control, and urban *** Mun River basin in NE Thailand principally is comprised of rice paddies and sedimentation in the river has been pronounced, but the studies on sediment source identification are limited. The current study aims to identify sediment sources in the Mun River basin and discuss possible impacts on ecosystems attributed to exposure to polluted sediment. The assessment relies upon physicochemical properties and heavy metal contents(iron(Fe), manganese(Mn), copper(Cu), chromium(Cr), nickel(Ni),and Zinc(Zn)) in the fine-grained sediment(<63 μm) taken from the Mun River basin and the Chi River in the dry season of 2020-2021. The findings revealed that the heavy metals in the sediment had not accumulated to levels of concern. Most sediment was from natural sources, including Fe-and Mn-rich sediment, Cr-dominant sediment, and Ni-and Cu-rich sediment. Fe-and Zn-rich sediment was, however, found in the urban watershed of Lam Ta Klong, and it could originate from mixed urban sources. Ferich sediment was predominant in the Mun River basin, which and could be a significant sink and source of toxic elements from agricultural and urban discharges. It is suggested that the toxic compounds in the sediment should be consistently monitored, whereas ecological and health risk assessment should be focused on the mobile forms.

Dielectrophoresis-based biochips with various microelectrode configurations have been extensively studied within the last five deca des. However, wide-field application is still challenging. This study aims to fabricate an oblique-configuration microelectrode and then utilizes it to determine the dielectrophoretic (DEP) characteristics of Lactobacillus casei based on the generated non-uniform electric field. The electric field distribution on microelectrodes was simulated with Quickfield 6.6 student version. The microelectrodes were fabricated using a copper film on a glass substrate. The DEP characteristic of Lactobacillus casei was investigated by applying a sinusoidal AC signal to microelectrodes in medium solution with an electrical conductivity of 0.05 S/m. The electric-field simulations show that the strongest electric-field was generated on the tip of electrodes spacing, and the weakest electric-field was generated on the inner of electrodes spacing. The negative-DEP force on Lactobacillus casei was observed at the frequency of 60-130 kHz, while the positive-DEP force was observed at the frequency of 380-700 kHz, both at voltage of 2-6 Vpp. The nDEP force led Lactobacillus casei to be pushed toward the weak electric field on the inner of electrodes spacing, and the pDEP force induced Lactobacillus casei to be attracted toward the strong electric-field on the tip of electrodes spacing. This study implies that the proposed oblique-microelectrode platform has promising application for bioparticles separation. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
