In order to reduce Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) bottle plastic waste, Universitas Brawijaya (UB) provided reverse osmosis drinking water in some buildings. Water monitoring is needed to keep the water quality. Therefore, a water monitoring system based on Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), pH, and water flow was proposed. Since the UB buildings have good internet connection (WiFi), Internet of Things (IoT) was employed to the system to support real time monitoring. So, data of TDS, pH, and water flow can be periodically sent to cloud and displayed to a specific website. The system worked very well and the data can be summarized and used by operator as indicators of performance of the reverse osmosis machine. When water quality and performance decrease, operator must check filters membrane or water pump for further maintenance to support long life use. Although the sensors have been calibrated properly, some measurement errors occur. The measurement error percentages of TDS and pH are 0.62% and 0.94%, respectively. © 2022 IEEE.

The translation application was developed using Python and Visual Studio Code as the primary programming environment. Technological progress has led to the younger generation forsaking the Batak language in their daily interactions, perceiving it as inconsequential to their social circle and contributing to the decline of regional languages. There is concern that regional languages, namely the Batak language, may lose significance or face extinction if this trend persists. This translation program is being implemented to aid in preserving regional languages, specifically the Batak language, enabling it to conform to contemporary circumstances. The development of this translation engine utilized the Batak language dictionary. The process of designing, coding, and testing is responsible for creating this direct machine translation. The BLEU score is employed to assess the caliber of machine translation. The study's findings indicate that the % BLEU value for ten sentences was 32.3%. This score falls within the category of sentences whose meaning can be understood, but the sentence structure still needs development. The direct machine translation developed in this Web platform is highly proficient and practical. © 2023 IEEE.

Forest fires have been detected to occur in Indonesia since 1998. The forest fires mostly resulted from human activities in order to expand their land, especially oil palm lands. Once a land clearing is carried out, it covers areas of tens to hundreds of thousands of hectares. The peak of the forest fires occurred in 2015 when almost half of the world was affected especially by smoke from the fire. In 2011, VIIRS (Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite) was launched by NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration). In their collected data, there is data on Indonesia issued daily for areas in the islands of Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and the general areas of Indonesia. The VIIRS night data shows the possibility of some burning at night. We need to identify burnings that potentially become fires, which are potentially producing smoke. It is important to observe areas where large-scale forest fires frequently occur, so the authority could do some prevention beforehand. Using existing data released per day per area, we utilize an ANN (Artificial Neural Network) to identify a potential fire. The processes start with data cleaning and processing, Neural Network creation, and finally ANN training and testing. By using the ANN prediction model with the MinMax Scaler, we choose variables Temperature, Radiant Heat Intensity, and Source Footprint. Simulations are made to show the ranges of these variables that predict the possibility of’flame’ status occurring. Background: Propolis from Sulawesi's stingless bees (Tetragonula biroi) contains antioxidants, more flavonoids than propolis from Apis bees, and the antibacterial ability. Objective: to examine the antibacterial properties of Propolis Nanoemulsion Extract (PNE), which is extracted from the Celebes Stingless Bee (T. biroi), in relation to the periodontopathogen bacteria such as Fusobacterium nucleatum (Fn), Porphyromonas gingivalis (Pg), Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (Aa), and Provotella intermedia (Pi). This investigation also examines PNE's phytochemistry, particle size analysis (PSA), and zeta potential. Methods: The maceration process with 96 % ethanol was used to create PNE from Celebes stingless bee (T. biroi), which was then subjected to zeta potential measurement and PSA. Phytochemical analysis was used to identify phytochemical constituents in the PNE (T. biroi). Diffusion zone, minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC), and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) were used to assess antibacterial efficacy against Aa, Pg, Pi, and Fn. Furthermore, the statistical analysis was used to extract the data. Results: Phenols, alkaloids, and flavonoids were identified;however, triterpenoids and saponins were not. Between 151.28 and 182.2 diameter nanometers (***) was the range of the PNE's diameter. At 1.56 % propolis (T. biroi) concentration, the MIC, MBC, and diffusion zone analysis performed better than at 0.76 %, with a significant difference (p:0.01;p < 0.05) to Aa, Pg, Pi, and Fn. Conclusions: The highest antibacterial activity against Aa, Pg, Pi, and Fn as periodontopathogen bacteria is demonstrated by alkaloids, flavonoids, and phenols in PNE from Celebes (T. biroi) at a concentration of 1.56 %. © 2025 The Authors

natural rubber (NR) has been utilized in several products from its interesting unique properties. This study aimed to develop the pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSA) as the transdermal patches from NR by two-roll mill kneading technique. Hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) was blended as a tackifier agent. The propranolol HCl and ibuprofen at different parts per hundred of rubber (phr) were loaded into this developed PSA. The appearance, thickness, crystallinity, contact angle, water sorption and erosion, adhesion, and in vitro drug permeation of these patches were evaluated. The thickness of all patches was in the range of 0.46–1.07 mm. The drug-loaded patches showed diverse unique topographies depended on both type and amount of drug incorporation. From powder X-ray diffraction analysis, the plain NR-PSA showed the amorphous structure, while the halo pattern inserted with sharp drug peaks were observed on drug-loaded PSA. The contact angle of all samples was in the range of 80–90° indicating their hydrophobic surface. However, they displayed an increased % water sorption with the time of soaking. The 2–4 N adhesion force was evident for all fabricated drug-loaded PSAs. The propranolol HCl permeated from PSA notably lower than ibuprofen. The residual of the drugs in patches was about 85–90 %. These results provided the basic physicochemical properties for the further development of PSA as the transdermal patch. [copyright information to be updated in production process] © 2022

This study aims to compare reported proteins expressed in controls and patients with SS in tear, saliva and serum from proteins identified in papers published between 2000 and 2020, to obtain a systematic comparison of proteins expressed in SS patients to find proteins that can be used as biomarkers in SS. Differentially expressed proteins from Sjögren's patients identified in the studies were classified by body fluid (saliva, serum, tear and saliva from healthy patients). Protein pairing was carried out in RStudio, using the previously created data framework, PANTHER and REACTOME 7.O. were used to explore the type of proteins associated with SS and enriched metabolic pathways. Five differentially expressed proteins were found in saliva, tear, and serum. Finally, this study suggests antithrombin III and E-cadherin. as biomarkers in SS, because these proteins are differentially expressed in plasma, blood, and tear, and that neutrophil degranulation pathway as a target for SS. Este estudio tiene como objetivo comparar las proteínas reportadas como diferencialmente expresadas en pacientes con síndrome de Sjögren (SS), en lágrima, saliva y suero, versus controles, a partir de proteínas identificadas en artículos publicados entre 2000 y 2020, a fin de encontrar una comparación sistemática de la proteína expresada en pacientes con SS y poder hallar proteínas que se puedan utilizar como biomarcadores en SS. Las proteínas expresadas diferencialmente de los pacientes de Sjögren identificadas en los estudios se clasificaron por fluido corporal (saliva, suero, lágrimas y saliva de pacientes sanos). The current situation necessitates advancements in renewable energy to serve as a viable alternative to traditional energy sources. The photovoltaic cells can entirely change the need for fossil fuels since they can transform light energy into electrical energy. The reflection loss in photovoltaic cells is a contributing factor to reduced power conversion efficiency that could be mitigated by using antireflective coatings on the surface of the solar cells. This study examines the deposition of zinc stannate (ZnSnO3) as an efficient antireflective material to improve light capturing capability and it is synthesized by sol-gel method. The electro spraying method was employed to deposit the ZnSnO3 layers on photovoltaic cells. The ZnSnO3 AR material was uniformly distributed on the solar substrate at 2 ml/h for 1 h (Z1), 2 h (Z2), 3 h (Z3) and 4 h (Z4) respectively. The impact of ZnSnO3 ARC on the structural, electrical, absorbance, reflectance characteristics and temperature variation in monocrystalline silicon (m-Si) solar cells was examined. The optical properties were determined by UV–visible spectroscopy technique. At a wavelength (300–800 nm), the ZnSnO3 coated for 3 h (Z3 specimen) exhibited highest absorbance of 92.65 % and the lowest electrical resistivity of 3.69 × 10−3 Ω-cm. When compared with bare and various ZnSnO3 coated cells, Z3 specimen showed a significant impact on solar cell efficiency. In direct solar radiation and stimulated light, the Z3 specimen achieved the maximum power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 21.16 % and 25.11 %. The findings indicated that ZnSnO3 could be a suitable AR coating material for reducing incoming photon reflection. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd and Techna Group S.r.l.

This study proposed country-specific characterisation factors (CFs) for Thailand by modifying the Thai Spatially Differentiated Life Cycle Impact Assessment (ThaiSD) method and introducing monetary conversion factors to express environmental impacts in Thai Baht. Five impact categories were fully parameterised, including fine particulate matter formation (PMF), human toxicity (both cancer and non-cancer) (HTc and HTnc), freshwater ecotoxicity (FET), and water scarcity (WS). Other spatialised CFs were selected from regionalisation models in ReCiPe2016 and IMPACT World+. When comparing the use of country-specific CFs with global average, the impact scores for PMF, HTc, HTnc, FET, photochemical ozone formation and terrestrial acidification demonstrated notably different levels, ranging from ±25 to ±50 %. The developed method was then applied to assess environmental impacts and costs of Thailand's transport sector, encompassing freight and passenger transport across roadway, railway, waterway, and aviation. Climate change (CC) was significantly attributed to human health and ecosystem quality impacts, while the major contributor to resource scarcity impact was fossil resource scarcity (FS). In some scenarios, non-exhaust emissions, particularly from freight trucks, accounted for 40–60 % of the total PMF impacts. Environmental costs of freight and passenger transport in Thailand were 0.08–3.64 Thai Baht per tonne-kilometre and 0.01–0.81 Thai Baht per passenger-kilometre, respectively. Among transport modes, trains were found to be the most environmentally favourable option for both passenger and freight transport, while aviation had the highest environmental impact for freight transport. In contrast, passenger aviation had a comparable environmental burden to passenger cars due to optimised occupancy rates. Caranx crysos and Mugil incilis are important economic and food species for local communities, this study characterized microplastics (MP) from their digestive tracts to understand the current state of this fishery resource regarding this pollutant. MP concentrations were related to trophic ecology using stable isotope analysis. A total of 240 specimens were collected in the Colombian Caribbean from two landing points: Tasajera and San Antero between the rainy and dry seasons (2021-2022). M. incilis had a higher concentration and frequency of apparent MP consumption than C. crysos. Filaments and films were the predominant forms in the digestive tracts, but C. crysos may accidentally ingest other types of microplastics, which is related to its active predation. Climate and landing sector showed no significant influence on the ingestion of microplastics. Instead, it is the species trophic characteristics, and the concentration of MPs in the environment that explain the observed MP contamination patterns. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Fusing explainable artificial intelligence (FXAI) is currently a prominent research topic in medical imaging interpretations. The proposed FXAI has the capability to provide the following benefits. Firstly, it can extract strong and reliable high-level deep features by combining various standard AI networks. Secondly, it can simultaneously generate visual explainable saliency maps associated with each chest X-ray (CXR) scan. Such heat maps not only demonstrate the most relevant regions of the AI decision-making process but also offer advantages to radiologists and patients. Thirdly, it enhances prediction performance to deliver an optimal intelligent solution for communities worldwide. These advantages can support the development of an optimal treatment plan, reduce medical costs, and enhance the capabilities of health care systems. We have trained and evaluated the proposed FXAI using a diverse benchmark medical CXR dataset that has been collected from various public resources. Our findings encourage researchers and stakeholders in the medical industry to validate this proposed framework in a practical manner. © 2023 IEEE.
