Caranx crysos and Mugil incilis are important economic and food species for local communities, this study characterized microplastics (MP) from their digestive tracts to understand the current state of this fishery resource regarding this pollutant. MP concentrations were related to trophic ecology using stable isotope analysis. A total of 240 specimens were collected in the Colombian Caribbean from two landing points: Tasajera and San Antero between the rainy and dry seasons (2021-2022). M. incilis had a higher concentration and frequency of apparent MP consumption than C. crysos. Filaments and films were the predominant forms in the digestive tracts, but C. crysos may accidentally ingest other types of microplastics, which is related to its active predation. Climate and landing sector showed no significant influence on the ingestion of microplastics. Instead, it is the species trophic characteristics, and the concentration of MPs in the environment that explain the observed MP contamination patterns. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Fusing explainable artificial intelligence (FXAI) is currently a prominent research topic in medical imaging interpretations. The proposed FXAI has the capability to provide the following benefits. Firstly, it can extract strong and reliable high-level deep features by combining various standard AI networks. Secondly, it can simultaneously generate visual explainable saliency maps associated with each chest X-ray (CXR) scan. Such heat maps not only demonstrate the most relevant regions of the AI decision-making process but also offer advantages to radiologists and patients. Thirdly, it enhances prediction performance to deliver an optimal intelligent solution for communities worldwide. These advantages can support the development of an optimal treatment plan, reduce medical costs, and enhance the capabilities of health care systems. We have trained and evaluated the proposed FXAI using a diverse benchmark medical CXR dataset that has been collected from various public resources. Our findings encourage researchers and stakeholders in the medical industry to validate this proposed framework in a practical manner. © 2023 IEEE.

Microbial electrosynthesis system (MES) is a promising method that can use carbon dioxide,which is a greenhouse gas,to produce methane which acts as an energy source,without using organic ***,this bioelectrical reduction reaction can proceed at a certain high applied voltage when coupled with water oxidation in the anode coated with metallic *** coupled with the oxidation of HS–to SO_(4)^(2-),methane production is thermodynamically more feasible,thus implying its production at a considerably lower applied *** this study,we demonstrated the possibility of electrotrophic methane production coupled with HS–oxidation in a cost-effective bioanode chamber in the MES without organic substrates at a low applied voltage of 0.2 *** addition,microbial community analyses of biomass enriched in the bioanode and biocathode were used to reveal the most probable pathway for methane production from HS–*** the bioanode,electroautotrophic SO_(4)^(2-)production accompanied with electron donation to the electrode is performed mainly by the following two steps:first,incomplete sulfide oxidation to sulfur cycle intermediates (SCI) is performed;then the produced SCI are disproportionated to HS^(–)and SO_(4)^(2-).In the biocathode,methane is produced mainly via H_(2)and acetate by electronaccepting syntrophic bacteria,homoacetogens,and acetoclastic ***,a new ecofriendly MES with biological H_(2)S removal is established.

In the current day, digital transformation is imperative;both customer demand and market competitiveness are mostly driving that trend. The fourth industrial revolution has also affected the financial sector. One difficulty that has to be addressed is the desire from customers for quick and useful services. Traditional procedures need to be replaced with digital ones. Furthermore, banking organizations will have a competitive edge in the current market if they are successful in this digital transformation process. Successful transformation, however, does not happen by accident;in fact, the likelihood of completing this change is seen to be very low, necessitating rigorous planning for a company that is ready for the future. There are several components to the preparation in question, both internal and external. As electric vehicles become increasingly important and widely used, the design of every type of electric motor has gained significant attention in both literature and industry. This study provides a detailed analysis of the number of turns in the motor windings, a critical factor in electric motor design. Through comparative analysis, it investigates how wire size and slot filling factor affect the number of windings turns per pole in Switched Reluctance Motors (SRMs). In addition, the study evaluates the effect of the number of turns analysis on motor performance during design optimization using the genetic algorithm tool in Ansys and traditional calculation methods. The optimization was performed with the wire size range between 0.45 and 0.85 mm. As a result, the optimal value with 82% efficiency was obtained with a wire size of 0.81 mm and 312 turns. The lower copper losses, ideal volume, reduced costs, and enhanced efficiency are obtained by determining the optimal number of turns. This research contributes to developing more efficient and cost-effective electric motor designs. Future research could explore various and more effective optimization techniques and current parameters to design SRM and other motors.

This research aims to build a mathematical model to formulate the problems of implementing knowledge management systems in companies that often face obstacles in achieving the desired objectives and goals. With increasing competition in the business sector, organizations or organizations realize the importance of utilizing the knowledge assets that reside in each individual and organization. If this knowledge can be managed optimally, it can become a competitive advantage for the company due to the emergence of innovative ideas by the concepts of knowledge management theory. By implementing optimal knowledge management (KM), companies can design innovative solutions to improve business operations and increase overall revenue. The factor analysis method will be used to find the determining factors for the success of the implementation of knowledge management systems (KMS) and the regression analysis method will also be used to form a mathematical model of several new factors which are formed as independent variables with the current level of community understanding of KMS as the dependent variable. The research results provide insight into strategies to improve success factors to successfully facilitate KMS implementation. This study contributes to existing knowledge management by providing insight into dynamics that go beyond the technical aspects of KMS, ultimately developing strategies for more effective and efficient utilization of knowledge and organizational growth and supporting competitive advantage for companies. © 2024 IEEE.

Kinematics Transformer: Solving The Inverse Modeling Problem of Soft Robots using Transformers

Soft robotic manipulators provide numerous advantages over conventional rigid manipulators in fragile environments such as the marine environment. However, developing analytic inverse models necessary for shape, motion, and force control of such robots remains a challenging problem. As an alternative to analytic models, numerical models can be learned using powerful machine learned methods. In this paper, the Kinematics Transformer is proposed for developing accurate and precise inverse kinematic models of soft robotic limbs. The proposed method re-casts the inverse kinematics problem as a sequential prediction problem and is based on the transformer architecture. Numerical simulations reveal that the proposed method can effectively be used in controlling a soft limb. Benchmark studies also reveal that the proposed method has better accuracy and precision compared to the baseline feed-forward neural network. © 2022, CC BY-NC-SA.

Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) represent a sophisticated aquaculture methodology that optimises water utilisation while sustaining environmental integrity. A critical parameter within RAS is the concentration of dissolved oxygen (DO), which significantly influences the growth and overall health of aquatic organisms. Nanobubble (NB) technology is expected to increase the effectiveness of oxygenation in aquaculture systems because NB can produce nanometre-sized oxygen bubbles with longer residence time. This study aims to model DO concentration in RAS by utilising nanobubble technology, to improve system stability and efficiency. The DO dynamics model developed uses a numerical approach to analyse the dynamic balance of DO between the increase and consumption of DO in a water body by considering factors such as mechanical aeration, water circulation, and the oxygen demand of organisms. In mechanical aeration using NB, in terms of volumetric mass transfer coefficient (kLa), it has an advantage over conventional aeration methods. The kLa value indicates how effectively oxygen can be transferred from the gas phase (air bubbles) to the liquid phase (water) in the system. One of the things that affects the value of kLa is the size of the bubbles formed, therefore the DO dynamic model equation is directly affected by the bubble size of the NB. In this study, it has been successfully proven that mechanical aeration using NB with a bubble size of 50–130 nm has a kLa value of 0.0649 s−1 compared to MB which reaches 0.00024 s−1 and 0.00026 s−1 with bubble sizes of 40 and 500 µm. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

This paper proposes an algorithm to optimize the walking of humanoid robots based on the inverse kinematic model combined with a Genetic Algorithm. The objectives are to improve the sagittal displacement of the robot and reduce possible lateral deviations during a predetermined path. The foot of the humanoid performs a tapered motion, an approximate ellipse. Horizontal and vertical speeds and the angulation of the humanoid trunk are the input parameters of the algorithm. The algorithm utilizes the input information to calculate the inverse kinematics, and then it submits the obtained result to an evaluation function. We develop a virtual simulator and a robotic platform with 14 degrees of freedom to validate the proposed algorithm. We then test a prototype using the best result obtained in the simulations.
