Introducing passivation molecules has been being considered as one of effective strategies to reduce surface crystal defects and hence improve the performance and stability of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). In this paper, we report the effects of organofluorine molecules, specifically trifluoroacetic acid (TFA), added in the ethyl acetate (EA) anti-solvent on the characteristics of MAPbI3 based PSCs, which are related to interfacial surface states, band bending characteristics and charge extraction processes. Anti-solvents with several volume fractions of TFA were used in the perovskite layer deposition step by the spin-coating technique. The current density vs. voltage (J–V) curve hysteresis was suppressed while the PSC stability and the PSC performance repeatability of the fabrication results were much improved in PSC prepared using EA anti-solvent with moderate volume fraction of TFA (i.e. 5% v/v). These PSC samples were also characterized by measurements of impedance photovoltaic spectroscopy (IMVS) and transient photovoltaic (TPV). By performing TPV measurements at various dc light biases, an unusual delayed TPV decay component with a long rise part was observed, especially at PSCs prepared with moderate volume fractions of TFA in EA anti-solvent. The infra-red (FTIR) spectroscopy and X-ray Photoemission Spectroscopy (XPS) data showed that TFA removed uncoordinated or weakly bonded MA+ cations and I− anions at the NCs surface but leaving the accumulation of Pb2+ cations on the surface. This condition causes the formation of surface states leading to a downward band bending at the MAPbI3/HTL interface, which is responsible to the observation this delayed TPV decay component. The isolation of pineapple pulp and peels can produce natural pigments which contain bioactive compounds that have an antimicrobial effect and benefit human health. Therefore, the aim of this study is to isolate the green and yellow pigments from the pineapple pulp and peels. The isolated pigments were used for phytochemical analysis and antimicrobial activity. These pigments were identified by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and Ultraviolet–Visible (UV–Vis). These pigments present phytochemicals have the potential to act as antimicrobial agents. This study would be one of the alternatives in developing food colouring that is beneficial in preserving the quality of food against foodborne pathogens using both isolated pigments. © 2022

Text classification (TC) is widely used for organizing digital documents. The issues in TC are numerous characteristics and high-element dimensions. Many pattern classification issues require feature selection (FS), which is pertinent. FS removes unneeded and redundant data from the dataset. The Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) and Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO) for FS are the main topics of our thorough assessment of the literature on the Swarm Intelligence (SI) algorithm. Furthermore, it illustrates how the hybrid SI technique is used in FS across various sectors. The hybrid SI technique uses applicable data from various FS methods to find feature subsets with smaller sizes and better classification performance than those found by regular FS algorithms. © 2022 IEEE.

Porosity effect on the tribological properties of Al-Si alloys for diamond-like carbon coating of cold sprayed

In this study, diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating made from spherical powder SP and Irregular powder IP manufactured for plasma of cold sprayed by gas atomization is presented. Sliding assessment is carried out at different loads on each DLC coating. All DLC coating surfaces are characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). Furthermore, coatings show low porosity and extreme hardness. Irregular powder IP coatings have proved to be less hardness than SP coatings. In case of IP coatings, abrasive plowing with used particles is resulted in an increased wear, while the available porosity in SP of the used particles is formed in some points of reduced sliding of wear. Coatings of IP cause an increasing of coefficient of friction (CoF). The load limitations are associated with tribooxidation in IP coatings, while mixed particles together with tribooxidation result in lower CoF with SP coatings. The range of CoF for all test parameters is 0.24–0.32. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) shows characteristics body-filled pores composed of a deformed material with an ultrafine microstructure and micron-sized particles. The characterization confirms that 30% of pore-filled coatings are ultra-deformed fabric with microstructure and particles, while the worn surfaces have a rough microstructure. The effects confirm that SP hardness and porosity help attract particles and reduce abrasiveness. © 2021

The collagen fibers could easily be produced via wet-spinning and mineralized by employing different mineralization methods. Herein, three different methods are used to obtain mineralized collagen fibers those are the Polymer-Induced Liquid-Precursor (P.I.L.P.), In-situ and Hydroxyapatite Mineral Addition (H.A.M.A.). Synchrotron Fourier-Transform Infrared Microspectroscopy is a powerful tool that sheds light on the molecular structure of collagen fibers. In this paper we discussed three different mineralization methods and detail their effects on the structure of collagen. One of the discussed highlights is that the applied mineralization methods caused distinct spectral shifts for the protein bands’ positions. It is demonstrated that among the suggested mineralization methods, In-situ and PILP have less, and H.A.M.A. has more effect on the native structure of collagen bundles and PILP gives the higher ratio of Ca/PO4. © 2024, The Authors. Development of Phase Change Material (PCM) for cold storage application requires devices for monitoring the changes in temperature during the charging and discharging processes. This device helps to understand the behaviour of PCM during the solidifying-liquefying process and predicts how long PCM can store the energy. The aims of this study were to design and prepare a temperature monitoring system using DS18B20 sensors for recording and displaying the temperature changes at six points within a box cooled by salt hydrate PCM. Thermistor types were used as temperature gauges due to their lower prices and flexibility. Six DS18B20 sensors were programmed with Arduino Uno as microcontroller. Output temperature measurement values in degrees Celsius were stored in a computer using PLX-DAQ software. Calibration of temperature measurement was performed by comparing the measurement results of the DS18B20 sensor and a commercial thermometer data logger using the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) method. Results show that the first DS18B20 sensor was RMSE 1.75, the second sensor was 0.98, the third sensor was 1.2, the fourth sensor was 1.21, the fifth sensor was 1.24, and the sixth sensor was 1.7. The changes in temperature measured by the DS18B20 sensor were successfully recorded for three days without any interruption. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

This study delves into the Bromo magnitude of the fire incident in Indonesia, a notable tourism destination, uncovering significant gaps in knowledge regarding tourist-induced forest fires. We comprehensively analyze the incident's environmental, economic, social, and tourism impacts. Environmentally, the fire caused severe damage to the region's ecosystems, upsetting ecological balances and diminishing air quality. This has far-reaching effects on flora, fauna, and the sustainability of natural resources. Forest fires release a significant amount of pollutants into the air, including carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, particulate matter, and other harmful compounds. These pollutants can significantly degrade air quality, leading to health issues for humans and animals. The forest fire in the Bromo region of Indonesia had a profound impact, both economically and environmentally. The closure of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park drastically reduced tourism, leading to an 80 % drop in hotel occupancy and severe losses for local businesses like jeep rentals, eateries, and souvenir shops. Economically, this resulted in a significant decrease in Non-Tax State Revenue. Environmentally, the fire destroyed over 50 hectares of land, severely damaging the national park's ecosystems and affecting biodiversity. The smoke and heat from the fire also led to poor air quality and potential health risks for local residents, as well as adverse effects on nearby agriculture, increasing stress and anxiety in the community. The study emphasizes the urgent need for stringent regulations, effective community engagement, and educational initiatives in forest conservation areas, particularly those attracting tourists. Our findings offer critical insights for policymakers, local authorities, and stakeholders in the tourism sector, highlighting the necessity of balancing environmental protection with the growth of the global travel industry. © 2024 The Author(s)

This study examines how a community in Yogyakarta, Indonesia reacts to the closing of local landfills. It identifies different groups within the community, such as those primarily concerned with health and aesthetics, those exhibiting proactive behaviors, and those acutely aware of the broader impacts. These groups show varying responses to the closures, from adjusting personal habits to calling for policy changes. The findings suggest a need for policies that are flexible and considerate of the community's diverse priorities and behaviors. In conclusion, landfill closures have complex effects on communities that require a thoughtful analysis. The study shows that personal choices and proactive behaviors are crucial in encouraging community involvement in waste management. However, there's a hesitancy to pay more for such services, indicating a gap in community responsibility and environmental stewardship. The research advocates for sustainable waste management solutions that are aligned with the community's values and behaviors, urging policymakers to design inclusive and sustainable systems for waste management that support the long-term well-being of both the community and the environment. © 2024

The utilization of plant-mediated methods to synthesize metal oxide nanoparticles (NPs) is becoming increasingly popular due to its simplicity, low cost, and environmental friendliness. Adonida merrilli leaf extracts in aqueous form were used for the production of nanoparticles of zinc oxide (ZnO). scanning electron microscope with energy dispersive X-ray (SEM-EDX), Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR), X-ray diffractometry (XRD), and UV-Vis spectrophotometer were accustomed to analyze the ZnO nanoparticles. The antibacterial effects of the ZnO NPs was examined on pathogens such Salmonella, Candida, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas *** indicate spherical crystalline nanoparticles with an average particle size of 73.82 nm. Zinc oxide nanoparticle absorption wavenumber at 715 cm-1 was seen in the FTIR, and EDX chemical mapping confirms the elemental composition of zinc and oxygen. For Candida, Salmonella, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, and Staphylococcus aureus measured Zones of Inhibition (ZI) values are 30.00, 36.00, 32.00, 40.00, and 36.00 mm, and the measured Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) values are 7.81, 1.95, 7.81, 1.95, and 3.90 mg/mL, respectively. The results of this investigation, as shown by the MIC and ZI values, point to the possible use of Adonida merrilli extract in the synthesis of highly crystalline Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnONPs) as an alternative medication.

Aluminium nitride (AIN) thin film bulk acoustic resonator (FBAR) sensor for hydrogen sulfide gas detection has been designed and mathematically modelled using CoventorWare and MATLAB software, respectively. The designed FBAR sensor is based on the PiezoMUMPs fabrication technology. The detection principle of the FBAR gas sensor is based on the resonant frequency changes detection due to the mass change on the top electrode of the sensor induced by the absorbed gas molecules by the nanomaterial deposited on the surface of the top electrode device. Reduced graphene oxide hybrid with copper oxide was considered as the sensitive nanomaterials and their mass loaded was evaluated in the theoretically calculation. The resonant frequency of the shear mode of the FBAR sensor has been calculated theoretically and found to be 9.4524 GHz. The effects of the gas molecules on the resonant frequency have been investigated using a mathematical equation and it shown that the increasing of the gas mass on the sensor surface will reduce the sensor resonant frequency. Furthermore, the sensitivity of the sensor was calculated to be 0.22615 Hz/fg. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
