In the performance-based earthquake engineering (PBEE), the ground motion (GM) records are generally selected for performing nonlinear time history analysis (NTHA) to evaluate the performance of the structure. However, due to the limited GM database for some earthquake-prone areas, it is very complicated and difficult to construct GM sequences with high intensity by amplitude-scaled method to reasonably evaluate the performance of the structure. To solve the problems above, an efficient method for constructing GM sequences is proposed as a supplement to traditional conditional mean spectrum (CMS) for the selection of high-intensity and long-period GM recordings. To construct GM sequences that meets the specific response spectrum sequence, a target response spectrum (conditional spectrum) sequence with physical meaning is simulated firstly based on the CMS and Latin hypercube sampling. Then, the time domain spectral matching (TDSM) method is introduced to generate GM sequences matching the target response spectrum sequences constructed above by adding adjustment wavelet functions so that available ground acceleration time history with high intensity and long period can be obtained from the limited GM database. However, in the previous studies, the coefficient used to constrain the adjustment wavelet functions usually is taken as an empirical constant value, which makes the efficiency of the iterative calculation unable to be guaranteed by the TDSM method. The particle swarm optimization (PSO) method is introduced to optimize the TDSM method to find the best coefficient used to constrain the adjustment wavelet functions to improve the calculation efficiency and accuracy. Finally, the GM sequences constructed by the proposed PSO-based TDSM method and amplitude-scaled method are input into the single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) system with different hysteretic models and a high-rise model for comparative analysis to further verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Due to significant dielectric properties of Mineral Oil (MO) it has been used as an insulating oil in Power Transformer (PT) and Distribution Transformer (DT). The critical functions of the insulating oil dies as it ages and needs to be replaced periodically. The ageing of insulating oil gives data that can be used to develop predictive model. With the use of predictive model one can predict the deterioration rate of an oil. The ageing model or predictive model requires a framework to streamline the ageing test on oils. The method is overwhelmed by various ideas of ageing model adopted from previous literature. Upon using the ageing framework, the new ageing method and standards can be developed in future. Hence, the review catapulted the designing of new ageing model to predict the deterioration of oil under transformer environment. © 2024 IEEE.

A multi-layered microstrip moisture sensor which is built an inexpensive microwave sensor for nondestructive and rapid sensing for particulate and granular materials to find of moisture content has been tested by using three types of wheat grains. The sensor was made from inexpensive material namely RT Duroid 5880, aluminum and plastic paper. The structure of the sensor consists of three layers namely grain layer, a protective layer, and a substrate layer. It designed by NI AWR Design Environment software at 9.2 GHz. The attenuation of wheat grain samples are measured by the sensor using network analyzer and compared with the results obtained from the software which is calculated using the dielectric mixture equation and dielectric properties measured by Open Ended Coaxial Probe. The data and graphs displayed a wide bandwidth of moisture content. This model is suitable for a range of moisture content of wheat grains as it could be validated in the range starting from 10% until 20.6% (wet basis) and attenuation ranging from 3.2 dB to 8.6 dB for three types of samples. It has been rated using conventional criteria, root mean square error (RMSE), standard error of performance (SEP) and correlation coefficient (R2). This microwave sensor prototype provides the analysis with acceptable accuracy.

In view of the characteristics of polyhedron spatial structure, such as simple structure, high repeatability, less node types and joined members, good bearing, seismic resistance and ductility, the parametric modeling of polyhedron spatial structure based on BIM technology is studied. Based on the programming interface (API) provided by Revit, and combined with the mathematical theory of Weaire Phelan (WP) like polyhedron, a parametric modeling plug-in of the polyhedron is developed in Revit through the WP like controlled by the window program to realize the parametric selection and visual modeling of the polyhedron basic cell and basic combination. The correctness of the plug-in in WP like polyhedron selection process is verified by an example, which provides a convenient and fast visual design method for designers. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

On the premise of guaranteeing high-quality measurement data, active wireless localization (A-WL) locates the target by at least three anchor nodes (ANs) with known coordinates, while passive wireless localization (P-WL) requires more ANs. In addition, P-WL requires a cumbersome training process to maintain the robustness in application scenarios as much as possible. However, the optimal deployment of ANs is not an easy task, and the application scenario will not remain unchanged. Therefore, a lightweight localization system that satisfies the localization accuracy requirements and can be quickly deployed should be one of the preferred solutions for WL. In this paper, we propose a single-anchor localization system based on continuous time-of-arrival (TOA) measurement. Specifically, we fix the AN on the blade with uniform rotation, construct the time-length distribution map by using the cyclically varying TOA caused by blade rotation, and intercept it according to the rotation period. We extract the change angle and distance information from the intercepted data in real time to achieve single-anchor localization. Meanwhile, we also construct a support vector machine classifier to identify the line-of-sight state of each interception period to assist the angle estimation in harsh environments and further improve the adaptability of the system. Experimental results show that the line-of-sight recognition accuracy of higher than 92% under continuous movement, and the average localization error of less than 0.6m. Though security researchers have tried to mitigate the risks, vulnerabilities, and it remains a challenge. Influence of seismic wave type and incident direction on the dynamic response of tall concrete-faced rockfill dams

Owing to the stochastic behavior of earthquakes and complex crustal structure,wave type and incident direction are uncertain when seismic waves arrive at a *** addition,because of the different types of the structures and terrains,the traveling wave effects have different influences on the dynamic response of the *** the tall concrete-faced rockfill dam(CFRD),it is not only built in the complex terrain such as river valley,but also its height has reached 300 m level,which puts forward higher requirements for the seismic safety of the anti-seepage system mainly comprising concrete face slabs,especially the accurate location of the weak area in *** the limitations of the traditional uniform vibration analysis method,we implemented an efficient dynamic interaction analysis between a tall CFRD and its foundation using a non-uniform wave input method with a viscous-spring artificial boundary and equivalent nodal *** method was then applied to investigate the dynamic stress distribution on the concrete face slabs for different seismic wave types and incident *** results indicate that dam-foundation interactions behave differently at different wave incident angles,and that the traveling wave effect becomes more evident in valley *** wave type and incident direction dramatically influenced stress in the face slab,and the extreme stress values and distribution law will vary under oblique wave *** influence of the incident direction on slab stress was particularly apparent when SH-waves arrived from the left ***,the extreme stress values in the face slab increased with an increasing incident ***,the locations of the extreme stress values changed mainly along the axis of the dam,and did not exhibit large changes in *** seismic safety of CFRDs is therefore lower at higher incident angles from an anti-seepage ***,it is necessary to consider both the

With the rapid development and widespread application of autonomous unmanned systems, the application scenarios of unmanned ships in maritime traffic are also expanding. However, this also brings hidden dangers to navigation safety and maritime traffic safety. In order to reduce the occurrence of maritime accidents, it is particularly important to improve the perception ability of unmanned ships of target information in the surrounding environment, especially the information of moving targets. This paper proposes an unmanned ship tracking algorithm based on MIMO radar to solve the problem of real-time tracking of surrounding moving targets by unmanned ships in a marine environment with impulse noise characteristics. This study uses the multi-input and multi-output characteristics of MIMO radar, combines the maximum correntropy criterion and the projected approximate subspace tracking (PAST) algorithm to estimate the feature vector in the impulse noise environment, and then combines the estimation of signal parameters via invariance techniques (ESPRIT) algorithm to accurately estimate the target's direction of departure (DOD) and direction of arrival (DOA), and proposes the MCC-PAST-ESPRIT algorithm. The simulation experimental results show that compared with the PAST-ESPRIT algorithm which is based on the minimum mean square error criterion, the method proposed in this paper shows better robustness and accuracy in the impulse noise environment.

In recent years, research has been conducted to establish a method for quickly and appropriately determining damage to buildings during an earthquake using sensors, and it’s useful to appropriately evaluate the maximum and residual displacement during an earthquake. The purpose of this study is to propose a disaster assessment method using a satellite positioning system that directly measures the response displacement of a building from satellite positioning information. In this paper, the positioning accuracy is verified when calculating the relative displacement using two movable vibration tables that assume the top floor of a building and the ground surface under earthquake. © 2024 Architectural Institute of Japan.
