Flooding is a natural disaster that occurs due to the reservoir or container of the waterway cannot accommodate existing water, one of the main factors is due to high rainfall intensity resulting in abundant water and overflowing rivers. To anticipate flooding, a measured hydrograph analysis is needed, but if there is no measured hydrograph, it is done by calculating and analyzing the synthesis unit hydrograph, in this study synthetic unit hydrograph analysis was carried out in the Way Bulok watershed using the HEC-HMS application with the SCS Method, Snyder Method and Nakayasu Method with a 2, 5, 10, 20, 25, 50, and 100 year anniversary according to the needs of the type of building to be planned, from the modeling results of the HSS SCS, HSS Snyder, and HSS Nakayasu Methods, the maximum flood discharge is quite variable, which for the 100-year anniversary of the maximum discharge of the HSS SCS Method is 1,924.80 m3 / s, Snyder HSS 1,164.80 m3 / s, and Nakayasu HSS 1,154.30 m3 / s and for flood discharge analysis, the Creager Method is used which serves to determine which HSS Method is most suitable for use with the Creager C 20 coefficient, It was concluded that the HSS SCS Method is most suitable with a maximum discharge on the 20th anniversary of 1,308 m3/s. © 2024, The Authors. This research proposes a novel energy supply system integrating a PVT roof into a heat pump system, capable of providing both electricity and heat. This research introduced the design scheme of energy supply system and the integrated construction form of PVT module and building roof. Analyzing the heat transfer mechanism and establishing a mathematical model demonstrates the system's functionality. Evaluation of the system's capacity and energy consumption characteristics, along with an analysis of its impact on cooling load and heat gains, reveals promising results. The results reveal that the system achieves a heating guarantee rate of 97%, meeting most of the residential heat demand in winter, while 63% of the electricity consumption requires an external grid supply. In summer and transitional seasons, the system not only meets the electricity requirements of the residence and heat pump unit but also feeds excess electricity to the grid. Comparatively, the PVT roof effectively delays and reduces peak roof cooling load and heat gains in summer compared to traditional roofing. These findings offer insights for optimizing energy supply systems and advancing the integration of photovoltaic and thermal technology into building design. © 2024, The Authors. Assessment of Satellite-Based Rainfall Products for Monitoring Drought in the Siak Watershed

High spatial and temporal resolution satellite-based rainfall products (SRPs) can serve as a vital data source, particularly in regions where rain gauge networks are irregular, sparse, or nonexistent. However, validating with measured rainfall data is vital for improving the accuracy of temporal data and spatial distribution. In this study, the performance of four SRPs, namely CHIRPS, GPM IMERG F, PERSIANN CCS CDR, and GSMaP was evaluated in the Siak watershed, Riau Province, Sumatera Island, Indonesia. Additionally, the effectiveness of high-resolution SRPs in monitoring drought in tropical climates was analyzed. Before analysis, a modified linear correction method was used to correct bias in SRPs. The performance of SRPs was evaluated at four rainfall measurement stations from 2003 to 2020 on daily, monthly, and annual time scales. The results revealed that GSMaP outperformed other products on daily and annual time scales, while GPM IMERG F exhibited the highest performance in capturing monthly rainfall patterns. These results remained consistent with both pre- and post-correction analyses. Overall, GSMaP exhibited the highest performance in estimating rainfall before correction and was suitable for monitoring drought. However, GPM IMERG F exhibited improved performance after correction compared with other products. In addition to its role in drought analysis, GSMaP can be used to represent rainfall measurements in hydrology, floods, and meteorology, particularly in the Siak watershed. © 2024, The Authors. Outdoor meteorological data is a prerequisite for building energy efficiency analysis, usually using data recorded by urban meteorological stations. However, with the continuous intensification of urbanization in recent years, the urban heat island effect has intensified, and the data recorded by urban meteorological stations is no longer able to truly reflect the microclimate situation around buildings. Therefore, this paper explores the differences in data recorded by urban meteorological stations and meteorological stations around buildings, and establishes relevant relationships through probability analysis and correlation analysis methods, providing a basic basis for constructing reasonable microclimate data around buildings in the future. © 2023 IOS Press BV. In-line activation techniques in concrete 3D printing enhance the buildability of fresh concrete without influencing its pumpability, thus enabling fast construction rates with long pumping durations. While the in-line activation of cementitious mixes with set-accelerators is a promising approach, the set-accelerators fail in geopolymer system. Moreover, the prolonged pumping and printing process may limit the cementitious mix’s pumpability. Therefore, this study investigates a new approach of attaining on-demand setting in geopolymer by alkali activation of binder slurry at the print head. The primary advantage of the proposed method is that the mix remains non-activated until it reaches the print head, thus facilitating a long pumping duration. It was found that the mix design parameters (i.e., precursors to activator ratio, slag content etc.) and operating conditions (mixing duration of precursor slurry, stage wise activation etc.,) are critical in attaining the desired fresh concrete properties in geopolymer concrete. This is demonstrated by the fact that the optimum mix design chosen with 20 wt% of fly ash as precursor and the activator dosage of 35 wt% of binder showed a yield strength growth rate from ~500 Pa before activation to ~70 kPa in 20 mins after activation. Moreover, this study provides a new insight into the potential benefits of polycarboxylate based superplasticiser, which was widely reported as an incompatible admixture for silicate activated geopolymer concrete. © 2023, The Authors. Unsignalized intersections in urban areas require revamping when traffic volume becomes high or movement is unsafe. In developing countries, due to heavy land use and unplanned growth of cities, road extension is not feasible. So, the performance of unsignalized intersections has to be improved by utilizing the available road space optimally. This study proposes a methodology to revamp isolated unsignalized intersections in congested urban areas by comparing the performance of four space efficient alternative solutions - Mini Roundabout, Speed Hump, Right Turn Short Lane, and Median U-Turn. The best solution was decided based on multicriteria decision making to make a holistic improvement in intersection performance. Four performance criteria were considered - flow, average delay, safety, and vehicular emission. VISSIM is used to simulate two isolated unsignalized intersections, and then the network characteristics of the proposed alternative solutions are configured to test their performances based on the four chosen criteria. Multi-criteria decision making approach has shown that mini roundabout is the most suitable design to improve the performance of isolated unsignalized intersections. © 2022, Aracne Editrice. Nonlinear detection is the first step in the process of nonlinear identification, and accurate decisions on whether there are nonlinearities or not in the tested structures are directly related to the choice of methods and theories for the following research and engineering application. Among existing methods, the Hilbert transform nonlinear detection method is widely used, because it has a clear and reliable theory basis, what's more, other phases in the process of nonlinear identification could be achieved based on the Hilbert transform. However, if the Hilbert transform is calculated by numerical integral methods, obvious truncation errors will be introduced, which will affect the results of nonlinear detection and other tasks of nonlinear identification. Combined with complex analysis theory and rational approximation to compute the Hilbert transform can effectively avoid truncation errors. In this paper, using residual theory, the complex analyzed Hilbert transform is re-derived, and the particular situation in which the real axis exists poles is added. Simultaneously, the Hilbert transform nonlinear detection method is also re-derived, and its misuse in the definition of Hilbert transform is clarified. A novel nonlinear detection criterion is established by reconciling the theory of complex analyzed Hilbert transform with the theory of nonlinear detection based on the Hilbert transform. Numerical examples and experimental studies cover single and multi degrees of freedom systems, linear and nonlinear cases, continuous and discontinuous nonlinear types, which fully verify the accuracy of the re-derived calculation method of complex analyzed Hilbert transform and the reliability of the newly defined Hilbert transform nonlinear detection criterion. © 2022, Editorial Board of Journal of Vibration engineering. Dynamic Response Analysis of Submerged Floating Tunnel after Anchor Cables Forces Adjustment Under Impact Load

Submerged floating tunnel (SFT) is a new type of cable-supported structure system for strait crossing. Optimizing the initial state of the SFT based on the existing SFT cables forces adjustment method (relatively uniform cable force, minimizing the support reaction force at the abutment section) in this paper. The responses of the SFT in static and seismic conditions before and after cable forces adjustment are compared, further verifying the optimization effect of the cables forces adjustment method on the structural performance of SFT. In addition, a theoretical model of anchor cables (the flexible boundary model) is proposed to calculate its displacement after being impacted by sunken ships. In order to prove the accuracy of the flexible boundary model, a finite element model of the SFT is established in ABAQUS. In addition, flexible boundary stiffnesses of anchor cables at different positions are figured based on the finite element model. Finally, the SFT after cables adjustment is analyzed to study the response patterns of the anchor cables at different positions under impact loads. The results demonstrate that there is a correlation between the distribution pattern of the anchor cables’ flexible boundary stiffnesses and the anchor cables’ responses regulation to impact loads. © 2024, The Authors.
