To ensure the longest and most efficient operation of the building, it is necessary to use the necessary construction equipment correctly and to detect and eliminate all errors and deficiencies in a timely manner. Maintenance of building represents a combination of technical, administrative and managerial activities during the operation of buildings, the priority objective of which is to maintain the required function. Innovative methods and tools supporting the facility management of buildings are increasingly being used in the management and maintenance of buildings. Such innovative technologies also include building information modelling (BIM). BIM provides users with important information and data that help simplify planning, implementation and maintenance of buildings throughout their life cycle. Precisely in the management and maintenance of historical buildings, sufficient data and information are key aspects to eliminate the occurrence of many faults and damage to historical buildings of the monument fund, which is caused by simple neglect of care or inappropriate maintenance. For this purpose, the principles of Heritage Building Information Modelling (HBIM) are increasingly applied in construction practice. As part of the research, will be analysed the current situation in the field of facility management of historic buildings and the current level of knowledge of the term HBIM. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

As an archipelagic tropical developing country, Indonesia is characterized by vast expanses of rural and isolated areas. This review aims to discuss water pollution and sanitation’s existing condition, health, and environmental impacts, alongside its management and challenges in Indonesia. The systematic review approach was utilized to ensure transparency and replicability, following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) criteria. Many water sources in Indonesia are contaminated by various pollutants such as heavy metals, microplastics, pesticides, and endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs). Moreover, the existing water and wastewater treatment plants cannot completely remove pollutants, including bacteria that cause waterborne diseases. The lack of proper sanitation facilities, including toilets and latrines, is not only reported in rural areas but also in peri-urban regions of Indonesia. This situation forces many to rely on unimproved water sources, such as river water, for their daily use and engage in open defecation, which may increase the risk of direct exposure to waterborne contaminants. Insufficient sanitation has been linked to significant public health issues in Indonesia, including maternal health complications, childhood stunting, and an increased incidence of waterborne diseases such as diarrhea. Based on the findings of this review, Indonesia still needs to improve its sanitation and water treatment facilities, as well as reduce pollution of the aquatic environment. This condition not only illustrates the condition of water and sanitation in Indonesia but can also be used as an illustration of how developing countries face various pollution and sanitation problems during the massive development and industry. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Compared with conventional monopile foundations, a hybrid monopole with wings attached to the perimeter is expected to exhibit better performance for supporting offshore wind turbines under huge lateral loads. Nevertheless, local scour could compromise the performance of the winged monopile in a sandy seabed. This hazardous scour effect on the lateral response of winged monopiles has not been well understood and adequately evaluated yet. In this study, the local scour process around a winged monopile in a sandy seabed was firstly physically modeled in a water flume. It was observed that both the depth and the width of the local scour hole around a winged monopile can be larger than those of a conventional monopile. Therefore, the wings need to be mounted below the scour hole to avoid the intensified scour effect that impedes the effectiveness of the wings. A series of numerical simulations were then carried out to evaluate the lateral load response of a winged monopile in the sand under the local scour condition. The numerical results indicate that the deformation of a winged monopole can be significantly mitigated compared with conventional monopiles. Contours of displacement and plastic strain in the soil at the ultimate limit state are presented to reveal the mechanism of wings for enhancing the lateral bearing capacity of monopiles. The effects of the aspect ratio and the number of wings on the bearing capacity of the monopile are further examined under the premise of the same material consumption. Finally, the optimized design of wings is proposed to take full advantage of the merit of the winged monopiles under the local scour condition. © 2022 The International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers (ISOPE). Currently, many methods in the field of Semi-Supervised Learning (SSL) assume that the datasets are balanced, but imbalanced datasets are very common in real scenarios. To solve the imbalance problem, many methods require prior knowledge of the class distribution of the entire dataset, so as to use the prior distribution to guide the model training on the unlabeled data. These methods often assume that the unlabeled data distribution is uniform or identical to the labeled data distribution, which may differ from the real scenario distribution. In this work, we provide a new perspective for setting the class distribution for imbalanced SSL. Without assuming the unlabeled data distribution in advance, we propose to record the model’s sampling frequency results for each class as the sampling distribution of the whole data, which can reflect the model’s true sampling situation. Based on this, we adopt logits adjustment method to deal with the imbalance problem of sampled data. To utilize more pseudo-labels, we further adjust the threshold according to the class distribution. The final experiments show that our method achieves excellent performance in various imbalanced semi-supervised settings.

Resilience is one of the most representative indicators in the transportation system analysis. Some of the researchers have evaluated the resilience utilizing a performance metric. However, the same weight of long-term and short-term performance leads to inaccuracy in resilience evaluation, and is particularly producing a hysteresis problem when the resilience is calculated with long-term performance only. In addition, few studies compared the road network resilience under recurring and non-recurring incidents. In this paper, we propose a metric for evaluating resilience that considers both long-term and short-term performance to overcome the hysteresis problem. Meanwhile, a resilience assessment framework is proposed for evaluating road network resilience based on the road topology and dynamic performance. In addition, we compared the resilience between recurring and non-recurring incidents using the log data of North 5th Ring Road in Beijing, China. The experimental results show that (1) the sensitive analysis demonstrates that appropriate importance factor β and period m of short term can effectively evaluate section resilience and overcome the hysteresis problem;(2) from the perspective of the road network, the minimal resilience of non-recurring incidents is approximately 35.42% lower than that of recurring incidents;and (3) to increase the resilience of the road network, the management should focus on improving the performance of relief road sections for recurring incidents and diverting the vehicles about to enter the entrance ramps in advance for non-recurring incidents. © ASCE.

Map Kabao Tunnel is a significant part of the track doubling project for the railway line connecting Bangkok to Northeast Thailand. The 5.2 km-long twin-tube tunnel makes is the longest railway tunnel in Thailand. The conventional tunnelling method was used to excavate the tunnel through complex geological conditions consisting of thrusted and folded carbonate and clastic sedimentary rocks. While encountering a few incidents of tunnelling difficulties caused by the poor quality of the rock mass attributed to weathering, sheared discontinuities, and karst features, the construction of the tunnel was ultimately successful and was completed in 2023. This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the lessons learned from the design and construction of this mountain rail tunnel project. © 2023 Ernst & Sohn GmbH.

The addition of antioxidants to the Transformer Oil (TO) is increasingly important due to its benefits during the operation of transformers. Despite its excellent dielectric function, the liquid insulation deteriorates by temperature and moisture. The over-addition of antioxidants (Ax) leads to agglomeration and the less-addition leads to poor dielectric properties. However, to keep the Primary Ax (PriAx) and Preventive Ax (PreAx) in phase with the TO, this method uses an emulsifier and stabilizer called Lecithin (Ln). To find the optimal addition of additives this method uses Response Surface Method (RSM) - Central Composite Design (CCD). The overall proposed method mathematical designs and evaluate the generated models. The optimal solutions are obtained using numerical optimization attempt and thereby creating 2D design spaces. Hence, this method provides both desirability and credibility. © 2024 IEEE.

Molecular simulations are efficient tools in differentiating individual effects of fluid-fluid interactions and pore-fluid interactions on thermophysical properties of confined fluids;e.g. the molecular packing, adsorption mechanics and availability of accessible pore volume for confined fluids and therefore, indicate the rock fracturing phenomena as a function of geological conditions, fracking fluids nature, its composition and rock mineralogy. Presently, we have deployed the GCMC molecular simulations to quantify the adsorption of pure nitrogen and N2-H2O mixture (50%-50% and 30%-70%) inside porous silica rocks. While we found that adsorption and molecular packing of pure nitrogen inside silica slit pores are only a function of pore height, which quantifies the pore-fluid interactions;however, for N2-H2O mixture adsorption and molecular packing of N2 inside silica slit pores has been additionally affected by the water content in the equilibrium bulk mixture that as well describes fluid-fluid interactions inside pores. It is interestingly noted that water in N2-H2O mixture results in water-assisted nitrogen adsorption inside hydrophilic silica slit pores, which has been further proven through the radial distribution function data calculations inside each slit pore. Also, the hydrophilic nature of silica increases water adsorption and hence reduces N2 adsorption inside the smallest pore of H = 20 Å. Such a reduction in N2 adsorption density below its bulk density without layering effect, inside 20 Å pore, further initiates the possibility of negative excess adsorption density. © 2024, The Authors. Development of plastic waste as an asphalt mixture inhibited by its compatibility. In this study, the addition of weight variations modified lignin as coupling agent in Asphalt Concrete-Binder Course (AC-BC) with LDPE mixture was investigated. Asphalt, Polymer Modified Bitumen with and without lignin addition were characterized by physical analysis using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy and Scanning Electron Microscopy. While the AC-BC pavement was analyzed by mechanical analysis using marshall parameter. The addition of plastic to asphalt will form agglomeration and after lignin was added the agglomeration reduced. The reduced formation of plastic agglomeration due to lignin addition in asphalt form Van der Waals reaction was indicated by peaks alteration from 1041.77 cm-1 to 1031.11 cm-1 at the maximum addition of lignin. Moreover, the marshall stability of the AC-BC pavement was enhanced up to 89.5% at optimum lignin addition. Lignin utilization as a coupling agent of asphalt and LDPE can be a solution to the weaknesses of asphalt plastic technology while solving the plastic waste problem. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Predicting the value of railroad track geometry is needed to reduce the cost and time of rail condition measurements that have been carried out periodically every three months by railroad operators in Indonesia (PT Kereta Api Indonesia/PT KAI). Four track geometry parameters - vertical profile, horizontal alignment, twist, and gauge - are the reference measurements that will be mapped with alternative measurement results using accelerometers installed on regular trains (in-service trains). In this paper, eight prediction algorithms from the machine learning model are applied to map the vertical profile with 73 kilometers of measurement data in the Jakarta to Padalarang railroad segment, precisely on the Jatinegara-Cikampek measuring trip conducted from April 2019 to June 2022. The evaluation performance of the prediction results has been measured with the GadientBoosting Regressor algorithm is the best algorithm with MSE = 0.791, R2 = 0.507 and feature importance on the Train speed and Az attributes. The research can be continued to detect the correlation of three other track geometry parameters referring to the dataset of rail geometry condition measurement results through accelerometers on regular trains (in-service trains). © 2023 IEEE.
