Global attention on the exploration of hyperspectral imaging (HSI) system for non-destructive evaluation of detailed analyses of food and agricultural products has increased significantly. This is due to its feasibility of obtaining spectral signatures (SS) of various substances. HSI is a special type of camera capable of simultaneously capturing high precision chemometrics features for the recognition of objects pixel by pixel. Unlike the digital camera equipped with the ability to obtain the morphometric properties of an object in term of RGB (red, green, and blue) colours. High-cost implication of HSI configurations mostly hindered researchers, institutes and professionals' accessibility to this promising optical equipment. Hence this paper provides different techniques commonly employed for developing low-cost commercial off-the-shelf (COTs) and do-it-yourself (DIY) embedded artificial intelligence HSI system for future exploration potentials of handling numerous food and agricultural materials. Relevant multivariate algorithms for ease of HSI utilisation are extensively highlighted to ensure seamless future adoption. This survey, to the best of our knowledge, addressed requirements necessary for ease of HSI replication in any part of the world. It suggest possible modifications necessary for HSI development and articulates numerous techniques adopted in exploring hyperspectral imagery as an artificial intelligence technology for handling various food and agricultural materials as an embedded system. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.

The research presents the strength characteristics and theoretical mix design of full-depth reclamation (FDR) with cement for road maintenance and rehabilitation. The reclaimed aggregates used in the study were pulverized and blended on the investigation site by the recycler machine. The FDR mix design covered the reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP), reclaimed base, and reclaimed subbase courses. The unconfined compressive strength (UCS) was tested on the FDR with cement under different mix proportions, cement content, moisture content, and curing time. Two factors that affect the UCS of FDR, viz., moisture-induced packing density and moisture for cement hydration, were observed. The mix proportion with 40% RAP required at least 6% cement to stabilize the FDR for use as a bound base course as per the standard, while the effective limit of cement content for FDR was 9%. The strength prediction model of FDR with cement was presented theoretically based on the modified soil-moisture/cement ratio concept. The verification of the proposed strength model was performed using 7 and 28-day UCS from another investigation site. The design recommendations for FDR with cement were summarized. This discovery could offer a cost-effective and precise method for the mix design of FDR with cement. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Shared anchor foundations anchor multiple floating wind turbines, experiencing loads from various directions. Changes in wind and wave directions or potential anchor chain failures will alter the loading direction on the shared foundation, thereby affecting its normal operation. This study investigates the bearing capacity of the shared caisson using an advanced model and numerical methods under multidirectional loading. Additionally, the research explores soil response to elucidate bearing capacity mechanisms. The study thoroughly examines factors like angle between loads, sand density, and previous load magnitude on the shared caisson’s bearing capacity. The results indicate that subsequent loading on densified soil enhances capacity, while loading on loosened soil reduces it. Key factors influencing the shared caisson's bearing capacity include plastic deformation of the surrounding soil and density changes resulting from previous loads. © 2024, The Authors. Structural Damage Identification of Sub-Seabed Shield Tunnels Based on Distributed Fiber Optic Sensors and Information Fusion

Sub-seabed shield tunnels are constantly subjected to erosion induced by seepage and corrosive ions and electrochemical effects of diffuse currents from subway traction locomotives during service, resulting in damage to the outer wall of the segment. However, the outer wall cannot be directly observed, making identification of its damage a challenge. In this research, an approach based on distributed fiber optic sensors (DFOSs) and information fusion is proposed to solve this issue. To monitor strain, DFOSs were installed along the circumference of the segment inner wall. The strain curvature was adopted to solve the adverse influence of the spatial resolution (SR) averaging effect in DFOSs. Using the strain and strain curvature as information sources, the strain damage probability index (SDPI) and strain curvature damage probability index (SCDPI) were created. Based on Dempster-Shafer (D-S) evidence theory, the SDPI and SCDPI were further utilized to build basic probability assignment (BPA) functions and perform information fusion for damage identification. To validate the feasibility of this approach, model experiments were conducted. The analysis of the test data indicated that information fusion can suppress the independent features of the two information sources while emphasizing their common features. The SR averaging effect, which can cause data distortion and diminish or even mask the damage anomaly feature in strain, and multiple extrema in the strain curvature that can interfere with damage localization are simultaneously eliminated. The damage identification accuracy is improved, and the damage localization error for the segment outer wall can reach satisfactorily results. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The 2018 Sunda Strait tsunami is categorized as a volcano tsunami that happens due to Mount Anak Krakatau's flank collapse. The modeling effort with this kind of tsunami is challenging. Selesung bay is located in Legundi Island, one of the suffered islands from the tsunami in the Krakatoa water area. This research tries to do a local scale simulation of the bay's tsunami waves using shallow water wave simulation software. The model permits wave transformation simulation in the bay from the offshore side to the coastal point. The result presents that the inundation height of the tsunami in Selesung bay is a combination of wave height (1.5 m), water depth (1.65 m), and wave set-up (0.2 m). Those properties are summing up 3.4 m modeled inundation height, which is committing to less than 1% error from the measured data of 3.38 m. The model also gives an insight into the diffracted wave condition in Selesung bay with a wave height of 2.8 m and a wave period of up to 25 s. All in all, the model shows a good agreement with measured data and permits the benchmarking points for further study. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The dynamic increasing factor (DIF) of concrete is normally measured via split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) tests. However, the tested macro-scale DIF-έ relationship from the specific SHPB test specimens under different strain rates έ cannot be directly introduced to finite element (FE) modelling. Based on the ANSYS/LS-DYNA and K&C concrete damage model, the SHPB direct tension, split and spalling tests were modelled, and a modified DIF-έ relationship with both mesh and έ corrections for dynamic mechanic behaviour of concrete material was proposed for local and non-local damage modelling of concrete respectively, also the numerical application of the nonlocal characteristic length L was detailed discussed. The comparison between the SHPB/impact test modelling and the relevant test results indicated that the proposed doubly corrected DIF-έnumerical application schemes could properly capture the concrete dynamic mechanical property. © 2024 Tsinghua University. Mixing Recycled Asphalt Binder (RAP) with fresh asphalt mixture offers both environmental and economic advantages. However, the aged asphalt binder in RAP presents a significant challenge in sustainable asphalt pavement construction. One of sustainable approach is by using Waste Cooking Oil (WCO) to bring back the original properties of aged asphalt. Although, WCO ability to soften the aged binder is already established, its ability to improve the binder ability to resist the ageing is remain unknown. Researchers have recently explored the potential of using WCO as a sustainable rejuvenator for RAP, aiming to improve the binder's resistance to ageing. This review covers important topics such the oxidative ageing mechanism in asphalt binders, ageing simulation techniques, the effectiveness of WCO in restoring the RAP properties, and WCO performance to increase asphalt ageing resistance. Through a comprehensive analysis of numerous prior studies, this review sheds light on the impact of WCO on the rheological characteristics, ageing resistance, and mechanical performance of the rejuvenated asphalt binder. The results from the examined literature are that WCO can be utilized as a sustainable rejuvenator in RAP by increase the durability and ageing resistance of binder. This review also points out some of the asphalt binder ageing factors are remains unknown which can be investigate for future research in this field. Ultimately, this review can be referred as a guidance to index and track the ageing factors in rejuvenated RAP by evaluates its characteristics and properties. © 2024 Institute of Physics Publishing.
