The emergence of e-textiles has facilitated impressive growth in the field of wearable technologies in recent years. Textile-based electrodes enabled long-period electrocardiogram monitoring within the health care field as they are less irritant to the skin and can be naturally embedded into the clothes. Beyond the specific health-oriented applications, physiological signals monitoring is also beneficial during other activities such as daily activities and sports. In this work, a system of a knitted t-shirt embedded with textile electrodes that targets measuring heart rate and respiration rate during various positions and activities is created. The performance of the implemented system is benchmarked against the performance of an off-the-shelf product using root mean square error. It has been shown that the proposed system can achieve good performance with heart rate respiration rate values close to that of the benchmark device.

This tutorial paper introduces hybrid feedback control through a self-contained examination of hybrid control systems modeled by the combination of differential and difference equations with constraints. Using multiple examples, it illustrates the power of hybrid feedback control, which stems from the integration of continuous and discrete dynamics, where state variables update instantaneously at specific events while flowing continuously otherwise. The paper defines hybrid closed-loop systems as interconnected hybrid plants and controllers with designated inputs and outputs, and formalizes their solutions. It summarizes key properties of hybrid systems and reviews various control strategies, including supervisory control with logic variables to select feedback controllers, event-triggered control to minimize control input updates, and strategies using multiple Lyapunov-like functions for stabilization. Pointers to further reading and other strategies in the literature are provided. © 2024 IEEE.

Indonesia's tourism sector, a cornerstone of its economy, has seen significant growth with both domestic and international tourists, drawn by its diverse landscapes and cultural sites. In 2022, the country welcomed around 10 million international visitors, indicating the industry's potential. In this context, employing artificial intelligence for personalized travel recommendations is crucial. This study proposes an innovative approach, converting tourism data into a bipartite format focused on the user-place relationship. We introduce the Enhanced Graph Convolutional Neural Network (Enhanced GCN), tailored for the tourism sector's complexities. Compared to the traditional Graph Convolutional Network (GCN), the Enhanced GCN shows superior predictive accuracy, reducing the Mean Squared Error (MSE) to 2.38. This advance represents a significant step in providing more accurate, customized travel suggestions. However, the current MSE suggests room for further improvement. Future research will aim to refine the Enhanced GCN, enhancing its ability to meet and predict tourists' needs in Indonesia's dynamic tourism environment. Ultimately, the goal is to use artificial intelligence to transform how visitors experience Indonesia's cultural and natural offerings, thereby bolstering the tourism industry's growth.. © 2023 IEEE.

Computational examination to reveal Kaempferol as the most potent active compound from Euphorbia hirta against breast cancer by targeting AKT1 and ERα

Breast cancer belongs to diseases with the highest mortality rates. Euphorbia hirta is an herbal plant with various pharmacological properties and is predicted to have good anti-breast cancer properties. This current study analyzed a potent compound from E. hirta as an anti-breast cancer candidate and predicted its mechanism. The Bioactive compounds in E. hirta were screened for drug-likeness, toxicity, membrane permeability, and bioactivity. Protein target prediction utilized four databases, followed by functional annotation analysis. Molecular docking employed AutoDock Vina, and molecular dynamic simulation used Yet Another Scientific Artificial Reality Application with parameters reflecting human cell physiology. Kaempferol was the potent compound in E. hirta that passed the screening and was predicted to have better anti-breast cancer activity than that of other compounds. Kaempferol targets AKT1 and ERα, the proteins correlating with breast cancer progression. The molecular docking results showed that Kaempferol bound to inhibitor sites on both AKT1 and ERα. In addition, Molecular dynamic analysis showed that the interaction between Kaempferol with AKT1 and ERα was stable, as seen from the RMSD, RMSF, hydrogen bonding, and MM/PBSA binding energy values. Therefore, Kaempferol was a bioactive compound from E. hirta with promising anti-breast cancer activities by targeting the AKT1 and ERα. © 2023 The Author(s). In this paper, the design of fixed-wing autonomous UAVs is aimed. The goal is to lock onto rival UAVs during the competition, avoid these locks with aggressive maneuvers, and perform the designated tasks autonomously. Autonomous Aircraft System; It consists of a ground control station, ground antenna, controller, and autonomously operating aircraft components. In the declaration, the system’s performance features, mechanical and aerodynamic design, flight control systems and communication systems are detailed. In addition, the UAV’s autonomous locking, image processing and task performance capabilities are presented, supported by tests and analysis. The final system architecture and performance analysis results show that the UAV meets the design requirements.

In today digital era traditional manual attendance systems in educational institutions are both inefficient and outdated. This study assesses the impact of implementing technology-driven attendance systems developed using the Waterfall Model, which promises to revolutionize educational settings by enhancing operational efficiency and reducing administrative burdens. The research involved deploying automated attendance software across various institutions and comparing its efficacy with traditional methods in terms of time efficiency, accuracy, and cost. The results indicate that technology-based systems significantly reduce the time and effort required for attendance recording, minimize manual errors, and offer real-time data that helps quickly identify attendance patterns and issues. These improvements lead to enhanced student engagement and accountability. Moreover the transition to automated systems results in considerable administrative cost savings by decreasing reliance on extensive paperwork, thereby allowing for a better allocation of resources towards improving the educational experience. Ultimately, the study confirms that adopting modern attendance monitoring technologies not only streamlines processes but also enhances the educational framework, making institutions more efficient and responsive. This shift benefits administrative and educational outcomes and sets a robust foundation for future educational practices, highlighting the critical role of technology in advancing educational environments. © 2024 IEEE.

The detection of cyberattacks has been increasingly emphasized in recent years, focusing on both infrastructure and people. Conventional security measures such as intrusion detection, firewalls, and encryption are insufficient in protecting cyber systems against growing and changing threats. In order to address this problem, scholars have explored reinforcement learning (i.e., RL) as a potential solution for intricate cybersecurity decision-making difficulties. Nevertheless, the use of RL faces several obstacles, including dynamic attack scenarios, insufficient training data, and the challenge of replicating real-world complexities. This study presents a novel framework that uses deep reinforcement learning (i.e., DRL) to simulate harmful cyberattacks and improve cybersecurity. This study presents an agent-based framework that is capable of ongoing learning and adaptation in a dynamic network security environment. The agent determines the optimal course of action by considering the current state of the network and the rewards it receives for its decisions. The CIC-IDS-2018 database, constructed using Python 3.7 programming, was used. The conducted studies yielded outstanding results, with a detection accuracy of 98.82% achieved for the CIC-IDS-2018 database in cyber-attack classification. © 2025 by the authors of this article. The paper deals with the issue of collecting and displaying geographic information about roads in Slovakia with emphasis on information about obstacles on roads. The main objective is to design a solution for collecting and displaying the roads based on the analysis of existing systems and identifying the requirements for an optimal design. The paper starts with an analysis of available solutions and the development of requirements for the most favourable design, followed by the planning of an optimal solution for collecting and displaying road obstruction data. The focus of the paper is on the development of a method for creating and modifying geographic obstacle information, the design of a textual and graphical display of the information, and the design of a three-level model for user access to the application. The paper concludes with a discussion of the proposed solution, comparing the requirements for the optimal design with the developed design.

In this paper we consider a system of one macro diversity SC receiver (MD SC) and two micro MRC (mD MRC) receivers, operating in a Nakagami-m multipath environment with gamma shadowing. The combination of the maximum L-branch SNR signal-to-noise ratio is realized at the micro level, and the selector combiner (SC) with two base stations is realized at the macro level. A closed-form expression for the channel capacity (CC) of the envelope of the SC macro diversity output signal is calculated. Graphical results show the effects of different system parameters on system performance, as well as the improvement due to the use of a combination of the micro and macro diversity. The derived expressions are used within GPU-based mobile network for modeling, planning and simulation of the system to estimate the quality of service (QoS). © 2022 IEEE.

In information visualization, the position of symbols often encodes associated data values. When visualizing data elements with both a numerical and a categorical dimension, positioning in the categorical axis admits some flexibility. This flexibility can be exploited to reduce symbol overlap, and thereby increase legibility. In this paper we initialize the algorithmic study of optimizing symbol legibility via a limited displacement of the symbols. Specifically, we consider unit square symbols that need to be placed at specified y-coordinates. We optimize the drawing order of the symbols as well as their x-displacement, constrained within a rectangular container, to maximize the minimum visible perimeter over all squares. If the container has width and height at most 2, there is a point that stabs all squares. In this case, we prove that a staircase layout is arbitrarily close to optimality and can be computed in O(n log n) time. If the width is at most 2, there is a vertical line that stabs all squares, and in this case, we give a 2-approximation algorithm (assuming fixed container height) that runs in O(n log n) time. As a minimum visible perimeter of 2 is always trivially achievable, we measure this approximation with respect to the visible perimeter exceeding 2.
