DDC (Digital Down Converter), as a key part of digital receivers, aims to get low-speed digital baseband signals by extracting and filtering the digital signals transformed by high-speed ADC (Analog Digital Conversion). This paper employs the multi-rate process technique to design the DDC, i.e. firstly conducting data CIC (Cascade Integrator Comb) extraction, then HBF (Half-Band Filtering) and at last low pass filtering. CIC, which doesn't need multiplication, can realize high speed filtering and the HBF has high operation efficiency and good realtime performance. FPGA realization is taken into full consideration during the project design of the top. In the end, this paper adopts the Simulink instrument in MATLAB and combines Altera's signal processing toolbox-DSPBuilder to implement the design scheme by the FPGA. It focuses on the description of FPGA implementation of the digitally controlled oscillator, CIC filter, half-band extracting filter and the low pass filter.

At present, the online network reprogramming faces two challenges: 1) How to save the energy consumed during the code dissemination;and 2) How to enhance the security of online network reprogramming. In this paper, we modify the work flow of online reprogramming system and separates an alone reprogramming component from the whole program image which need not be transmitted in order to reduce the energy consumption. According to the security vulnerabilities in the image management aspects of code dissemination, acipher puzzle-based image management algorithm is proposed. According to the based-request attacks, several counter measures are introduced in our online reprogramming system, such as secure broadcast authentication based on cluster keys and the request count technique. By integrating several key techniques, our online reprogramming system can securely and energy-efficiently disseminate the new program image into the whole WSNs.

Today, data clustering problems became an important challenge in Data Mining domain. A kind of clustering is projective clustering. Since a lot of researches has done in this article but each of previous algorithms had some defects that we will be indicate in this paper. We propose a new algorithm based on fuzzy sets and at first using this approach detect and eliminate unimportant properties for all clusters. Then we remove outliers, finally we use weighted fuzzy c-mean algorithm according to offered formula for fuzzy calculations. Experimental results show that our approach has more performance and accuracy than similar algorithms.

Using a sample of dilepton top-quark pair (tt¯) candidate events, a study is performed of the production of top-quark pairs together with heavy-flavor (HF) quarks, the sum of tt¯+b+X and tt¯+c+X, collectively referred to as tt¯ + HF. The data set used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 4.7 fb−1 of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV recorded by the ATLAS detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The presence of additional HF (b or c) quarks in the tt¯ sample is inferred by looking for events with at least three b-tagged jets, where two are attributed to the b quarks from the tt¯ decays and the third to additional HF production. The dominant background to tt¯ + HF in this sample is tt¯+jet events in which a light-flavor jet is misidentified as a heavy-flavor jet. To determine the heavy- and light-flavor content of the additional b-tagged jets, a fit to the vertex mass distribution of b-tagged jets in the sample is performed. The result of the fit shows that 79 ± 14 (stat) ± 22 (syst) of the 105 selected extra b-tagged jets originate from HF quarks, 3 standard deviations away from the hypothesis of zero tt¯ + HF production. The result for extra HF production is quoted as a ratio (RHF) of the cross section for tt¯ + HF production to the cross section for tt¯ production with at least one additional jet. Both cross sections are measured in a fiducial kinematic region within the ATLAS acceptance. RHF is measured to be [6.2±1.1(stat)±1.8(syst)]% for jets with pT>25 GeV and |η|<2.5, in agreement with the expectations from Monte Carlo generators.

In this paper, the authors targeted multiple access protocols to analyze the problem of collision and collision avoidance in RFID systems. By considering user terminals as tags and access point as reader, the authors efficiently modelled the wireless communication channel by considering the capture effect. Otherwise, if the capture effect is not considered, the system is modelled under wired communication.

Since the number of devices and people involved in a pervasive healthcare system increases drastically with a huge amount of communication links, it becomes necessary to identify the exact focus of attention of the various personnel involved and to do that in a seamless manner. In this paper, we present a robust mechanism to identify the focus of attention of the medical personnel (doctors, nurses etc.) while dealing with patients, equipment and other data. We propose to use wearable gaze-directed cameras that can capture the exact point where the person is looking to identify his focus. We exploit the fact that is human nature to “look” at the relevant object and/or person attended to. We demonstrate two sample scenarios: First, in a ward with multiple patients, we identify the patient approached by the doctor so that only his information is loaded. Second, in a setup of multiple patients where each has to be given medicines by a nurse one by one while only the medicines relevant to current patient is highlighted in turn. We argue that our approach is unobtrusive and robust, and is capable of handling scenarios involving multiple equi-probable elements of interest.

Fractures of bone are a common affliction in orthopedic wards at any given time. Trained radiologists generally identify abnormal pathologies including fractures with a relatively high level of accuracy. However studies examining reader accuracy have shown that in some cases the miss rate can be as high when reading x-rays containing multiple abnormalities. Accurate diagnosis of fractures is vital to the effective management of patient injuries. As a result, detection of long-bone fractures is an important orthopedics and radiologic problem, and it is proposed that a novel computer aided detection system could help lowering the miss rate. This paper examines the development of such a system, for the detection of long-bone fractures. This project fully employed MATLAB 7.8.0 (.r2009a) as the programming tool for loading image, image processing and user interface development. Results obtained demonstrate the performance of the femur?s long bone fracture detection system with some limitations.

This paper presents how using a correspondence-based interpolation scheme for 3D image registration improves the registration accuracy. The interpolator takes into account correspondences across slices, which is an advantage, particularly when the volume has thick slices, and where anatomies lie non-parallel to the slice direction. We use our previously presented approach for correspondence-based interpolation and demonstrate results on two different datasets, brain and cardiac MRI. The results are evaluated (i) qualitatively by examination of gradient images and cardiac pig atlases and (ii) quantitatively by registering downsampled brain data using two different interpolators and subsequently applying the deformation fields to the original data. The results show that the interpolator provides better gradient images and a more sharp cardiac atlas. Moreover, it provides better deformation fields on downsampled data, increasing the registration accuracy of original data to 5.8% on average with respect to a standard interpolator. © 2011 IEEE.

Network visualization provides methods that simplify resource management, deal with connectivity and bandwidth constraints, and enable virtual network-connected machines through either a common layer 2 or layer 3 IP network of TCP/IP protocol suite. This paper presents an alternative optimization solution in maintaining the packets queue on a virtual router by using Genetic Algorithm. The objective of this research is to reduce a cost of network resources such as memory and time processes on a router. It is important for a company with limited cost when implements a network infrastructure. We defined a crossover probability and a mutation probability to 0.90 and 0.05. In our experiments, we still have unsatisfied results due to the average and the standard deviation of fitness values and slots needed in queues are 58,238.10 & 139,575.45 and 106.20 & 82.51, respectively. These values should be better by defining an appropriate fitness function in our next experiments. We still continue the research by examining an appropriate fitness function, Genetic Algorithm as a classifier, dynamic slot size, and also comparing with current queue managements such as first-in first-out and weighted fair queue.
