This paper presents the algorithm of modelling and analysis of Latent Semantic Relations inside the argumentative type of documents collection. The novelty of the algorithm consists in using a systematic approach: in the combination of the probabilistic Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) and Linear Algebra based Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA) methods;in considering each document as a complex of topics, defined on the basis of separate analysis of the particular paragraphs. The algorithm contains the following stages: modelling and analysis of Latent Semantic Relations consistently on LDA- and LSA-based levels;rules-based adjustment of the results of the two levels of analysis. The verification of the proposed algorithm for subjectively positive and negative Polish-language film reviews corpuses was conducted. The level of the recall rate and precision indicator, as a result of case study, allowed to draw the conclusions about the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. © 2017, Springer International Publishing AG.

Linked Open Data (LOD) principles are known for a decade now and there are thousands of LOD datasets of variable quality and importance. They often come from academic research projects, which show how LOD can be published, how it can be useful, etc. However, these projects last only for a few years and when they end, the datasets often cease to be maintained. What is needed is to convince the owner of the original data, e.g. an organization in public administration, to keep on publishing LOD on their own even when the project ends. Therefore, it is noteworthy and admirable, when this happens. In this paper we describe how the Czech Social Security Administration (CSSA) publishes official pension statistics as LOD as part of their day-to-day operation, which was jump-started by an applied research project. The data is modeled using the Simple Knowledge Organization System (SKOS) vocabulary and the RDF Data Cube Vocabulary (DCV). It is published as RDF data dumps, as a SPARQL endpoint and using IRI dereferencing for semantic web technologies power users. For journalists and other users without knowledge of these technologies, the data is also published as CSV files and visualizations generated from the LOD. We show how the data is reused in applications and how it contributes to statistical indicators in combination with other LOD. © 2018, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The present paper demonstrates a teaching approach in programming course for beginners: schoolchildren and schoolteachers. This course was developed at the Institute of informatics at Tallinn University of Technology and it based on many years experience in teaching programming for non-IT first year students. The main aim of the course is to raise the motivation and keep the interest of the learners in programming field. Authors suggest some ways and methods to overcome complexity in the first stage in a coding.

International challenges have become the de facto standard for comparative assessment of image analysis algorithms given a specific task. Segmentation is so far the most widely investigated medical image processing task, but the various segmentation challenges have typically been organized in isolation, such that algorithm development was driven by the need to tackle a single specific clinical problem. We hypothesized that a method capable of performing well on multiple tasks will generalize well to a previously unseen task and potentially outperform a custom-designed solution. To investigate the hypothesis, we organized the Medical Segmentation Decathlon (MSD)—a biomedical image analysis challenge, in which algorithms compete in a multitude of both tasks and modalities. The underlying data set was designed to explore the axis of difficulties typically encountered when dealing with medical images, such as small data sets, unbalanced labels, multi-site data and small objects. The MSD challenge confirmed that algorithms with a consistent good performance on a set of tasks preserved their good average performance on a different set of previously unseen tasks. Moreover, by monitoring the MSD winner for two years, we found that this algorithm continued generalizing well to a wide range of other clinical problems, further confirming our hypothesis. Three main conclusions can be drawn from this study: (1) state-of-the-art image segmentation algorithms are mature, accurate, and generalize well when retrained on unseen tasks;(2) consistent algorithmic performance across multiple tasks is a strong surrogate of algorithmic generalizability;(3) the training of accurate AI segmentation models is now commoditized to non AI *** Codes 68T07. © 2021, CC BY-NC-SA.

Within an environment of parallel objects, an approach of structured parallel programming with the paradigm of object-orientation is presented here. The proposal includes a programming method based on high level parallel compositions or HLPCs (CPANs in Spanish). C++ classes and CPANs are syntactically alike and differ in concurrency mechanisms. Different parallel programming patterns, synchronisation operations and new constructs like futures have been discussed throughout the paper. To achieve software-reusability, a series of predefined patterns that use object-oriented programming concepts have been presented. Concurrency related constraints on process synchronisation are set by only resorting to maxpar, mutex, sync primitives in the application code. By means of the method application, the implementation of commonly used parallel communication patterns is explained to finally present a library of classes for C++ applications that use POSIX threads. 15B10, 15B51, 65F25, 65F15A real quadratic matrix is generalized doubly stochastic (g.d.s.) if all of its row sums and column sums equal one. We propose numerically stable methods for generating such matrices having possibly orthogonality property or/and satisfying Yang-Baxter equation (YBE). Additionally, an inverse eigenvalue problem for finding orthogonal generalized doubly stochastic matrices with prescribed eigenvalues is solved here. The tests performed in MATLAB illustrate our proposed algorithms and demonstrate their useful numerical properties. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper proposes the representation through the model of the High Level Parallel Compositions or CPANs, of the communication / interaction patterns denominated Pipeline and Farm, and their usefulness in combinatorial optimization problems within the classification of NP-hard problems such as grouping fragments of DNA sequences and assembly of these fragments to construct gnome;through a Structured Parallel Programming approach based on the concept of Parallel Objects. The Pipeline and Farm models are shown as CPANs under the Object Orientation paradigm and with them it is proposed the creation of a new CPAN that combines and uses the previous ones to solve the problem of obtaining and assembling Strings of DNA. Each CPAN proposal contains a set of predefined synchronization constraints between processes (maximum parallelism, mutual exclusion and synchronization of producer-consumer type), as well as the use of synchronous, asynchronous and asynchronous future modes of communication. We show the algorithm that solves the assembly of DNA sequences, their design and implementation as CPAN and the performance metrics in their parallel execution using multicores.

The First International Conference in Systems and Network Medicine gathered together 200 global thought leaders, scientists, clinicians, academicians, industry and government experts, medical and graduate students, postdoctoral scholars and policymakers. Held at Georgetown University Conference Center in Washington D.C. on September 11-13, 2019, the event featured a day of pre-conference lectures and hands-on bioinformatic computational workshops followed by two days of deep and diverse scientific talks, panel discussions with eminent thought leaders, and scientific poster presentations. Topics ranged from: Systems and Network Medicine in Clinical Practice;the role of -omics technologies in Health Care;the role of Education and Ethics in Clinical Practice, Systems Thinking, and Rare Diseases;and the role of Artificial Intelligence in Medicine. In software development application lifecycle management (ALM) systems are used to support the development process. As these products are tailored for best fitting the applied programs and their actual usage is diverse. Often, this means that products of different vendors are applied, which reduce the reachability between different artefacts and the overall consistency of the system. In this paper we are analyzing the applicability of Augmented Lifecycle Space as a new approach. This approach provides the capability to enhance the traceability and consistency while reducing human effort through automation both in homogeneous and heterogeneous tool environments. © 2016 IEEE.
