The development team needs to work together with a customer who has a basic understanding of information technology. Customers need to be aware of the business processes and the importance of technology. A customer and the development team need to communicate and understand each other in the software project's development. software projects can be successfully built when the customer has sufficient capacity. The process of building an organization's strength and sustainability is called capacity-building. software projects are more effective and quality when capacity development takes place at the organizational level. Capacity directly affects work performance and business outcomes. Due to low customer capacity, we have found in practice and in the literature that False Requirements, No Basic Technology Knowledge, No Domain Knowledge, Mismanaged Timeline, No Trust in software Project, and Unproductive Discussion are the main customer capacity challenges to the software project development team. We documented our experiences and five newly discovered patterns in government organizations to solve the mentioned challenges. We present this documented experience in the form of patterns in this paper to improve the customer capacity Before work begins on a software project or during the software development process. Some organizational patterns that reduce the mentioned challenges are also used along with newly discovered patterns. We have illustrated the sequences of the patterns and explained how we could make a pattern language from these patterns.

software development demand and identification of end users involvement have been increasing rapidly, but identifying the real end user and involving them in software development is challenging for software developers reported in the literature. One of the problems is the difficulty of designing the business domain. It takes longer to find the actual business domain when different and inexpert domain end users are engaged with developers. Another problem is the difficulty of incorporating all types of end users needs in software development. Several expectations and different information make the development process more complex and overload the project scope. software development also takes more time, and the project goal is challenging. The above problems are the leading causes that create a complex process and difficulty in software development. To overcome these problems, we established a pattern language composed of eight organizational patterns observed and documented during in practical work on many projects. These patterns and other known organizational patterns relation are described in a patterns story of a real company.

Despite numerous efforts to address system outsourcing problems in the subcontract management system, the existing available solutions do not appear to be sufficient. They are fragmented into individual patterns, neither composing legible pattern languages to address the subcontract management systems nor being integrated into comprehensive pattern languages for managing system outsourcing in general. Communication among stakeholders is another issue that takes a long time because of their naturally hierarchical or multi-layered structure. And usually, false information reaches the sub-contractor at the bottom of the chain, which affects a project, and causes delays in deliverables. We attempt to overcome these problems by providing a set of four organizational patterns for the subcontract management system. Using them in combination with other available patterns and practices, we demonstrate a pattern language for better communication among different involved organizations. This paper focuses on better relationships between stakeholders. The relationships contain an inter-organizational communication and coordination among the stakeholders. A pattern story of a real case illustrates the overall use of this pattern language.

There are various ways of how reality is recreated in games. These patterns recur in within a single game and throughout many games. There are contradictory forces that lead to a solution that can be reused. Clearly, these ways of recreating reality in games exhibit the properties of patterns in the Alexandrian sense, that heavily influenced the area of software development. Identifying the patterns of recreating reality in games is important in order to develop entertaining and interesting games that people will enjoy playing. Implementing them can greatly improve the quality of games. Furthermore, the patterns are flexible, thus they can be used in many creative ways. For games to be enjoyable and plausible, the reality within them needs to be recreated. Good practices in achieving this can be captured as patterns in the Alexandrian sense. This paper brings in the idea of patterns of recreating reality in games, the connections between them, how they are implemented, and how to apply them. Five patterns mined in Minecraft and other successful games are presented---The Presence of an Enjoyable Challenge, Preservation of Progress, Flexibility of the Laws of Nature, Expansion of Inventory Limits, and Fast Travel---along with the relationships between them and examples of where they can be found. A story describing gameplay of Minecraft from a player's perspective has been used to show exact examples of these patterns.

As the primary pollutant in China's urban atmosphere, particulate matter (PM)2.5 poses a great threat to the health of residents and ecological stability. An efficient and effective PM2.5 concentration monitoring is essential. Nonetheless, the popular devices for PM2.5 monitoring are developed based on two standards: the microoscillation balance method and the β-ray method, which have high purchase and maintenance costs and slow calculation rates. To this end, we put forward a real-time and reliable vision-based estimation algorithm of PM2.5 concentration. To be specific, the proposed method first develops two natural scene statistical analysis-based visual priors to measure saturation and structural information losses caused by the 'haze' formed by PM2.5. Moreover, we develop a lightweight deep belief network-deep neural network-based PM2.5 concentration estimation model, which learns the mapping from the designed visual priors to PM2.5 concentrations. Experiments confirm the superiority of our vision-based PM2.5 concentration estimation method by comparison with state-of-the-art photo-based PM2.5 monitoring methods. © 2020 IEEE.

Agile software development methodologies, including Scrum, have become popular for their flexibility and collaborative approach. However, the success of Scrum teams heavily depends on the dynamics among team members. This study explores the challenges related to Agile software development, specifically focusing on the influence of human skills on the Scrum team. While Scrum encompasses various well-defined aspects, it does not explicitly address personality traits. Consequently, this study seeks to explore how teams' performance is influenced by the human skills possessed by their members during the implementation of Agile methodologies. This study investigated eight teams of software engineering students engaged in software development projects by observing impacted team processes in each iteration. The results show that soft skills and J/P significantly influence team processes. However, their impact on the team's product varies across cycles. Additionally, soft skills interact with the Feeling (F)/ Thinking (T) and Judging (J)/Perceiving (P), affecting team processes and products.

Recently, WiFi Fingerprinting-based indoor positioning systems have gained significant attention due to the low cost of infrastructure deployment. In the data collection process, a higher density of reference points may lead to better positioning results. However, it makes this process time-consuming and laborious. To solve this problem, this study applies and compares different interpolation methods to enrich the fingerprint database without increasing the cost of the collection process. To evaluate the performance of the chosen methods, five interpolation methods are implemented in a multi-condition WiFi Fingerprinting dataset. Moreover, to check the robustness of the methods, different numbers of reference points are considered when creating the new interpolated fingerprint databases. According to the results, inverse distance weighting (IDW) is the most suitable interpolation method with low complexity and stable performance. The IDW-based database achieves an average interpolation error of less than 6 dBm compared to the original database. When applying this interpolated database to perform positioning tasks, it helps reduce the collection cost by 30% with slightly lower positioning results compared to the original database. This work demonstrates the feasibility of using interpolation to ease the data collection process of WiFi Fingerprinting, especially in complex and big areas such as airports or hospitals. Autonomous robots combine skills to form increasingly complex behaviors, called missions. While skills are often programmed at a relatively low abstraction level, their coordination is architecturally separated and often expressed in higher-level languages or frameworks. State machines have been the go-to language to model behavior for decades, but recently, behavior trees have gained attention among roboticists. Originally designed to model autonomous actors in computer games, behavior trees offer an extensible tree-based representation of missions and are claimed to support modular design and code reuse. Although several implementations of behavior trees are in use, little is known about their usage and scope in the real world. How do concepts offered by behavior trees relate to traditional languages, such as state machines? How are concepts in behavior trees and state machines used in actual applications? This paper is a study of the key language concepts in behavior trees as realized in domain-specific languages (DSLs), internal and external DSLs offered as libraries, and their use in open-source robotic applications supported by the Robot Operating System (ROS). We analyze behavior-tree DSLs and compare them to the standard language for behavior models in robotics: state machines. We identify DSLs for both behavior-modeling languages, and we analyze five in-depth. We mine open-source repositories for robotic applications that use the analyzed DSLs and analyze their usage. We identify similarities between behavior trees and state machines in terms of language design and the concepts offered to accommodate the needs of the robotics domain. We observed that the usage of behavior-tree DSLs in open-source projects is increasing rapidly. We observed similar usage patterns at model structure and at code reuse in the behavior-tree and state-machine models within the mined open-source projects. The aim of this online-survey study is the development and evaluation of a mobile health application specifically designed to meet the needs of individuals who have previously undergone intensive-care treatment. User acceptance and perception play a crucial role in refining and optimizing the app's features and functionalities. By actively incorporating suggestions and insights from users, the goal is to enhance the overall usability and better cater to the diverse needs of individuals in post-intensive care recovery. In recent years, wireless sensor networks (WSN) have received considerable attention in environmental, industrial monitoring, and control applications. It is used to monitor, collect, maintain, and analyse environmental data from a remote place with the help of remote sensing and monitoring technologies. Identification of suitable algorithms and protocol WSNs for water quality monitoring is a challenge due to the limitation of energy, computation capability, and storage resources of the sensor nodes. In this paper, we designed a model for a WSN-based water quality monitoring system that employs a machine learning technique to analyse water data and facilitates decision-making. The suggested model can gather water quality parameters from a water body and send them to a distant data centre, where they will be processed using a machine learning (ML) algorithm. The experiment shown that by adopting WSN and ML approach, we can obtain state-of-the-art 0.0723 RMSE and 0.0052 MAE, indicating that the proposed methodology is appropriate for usage in intelligence water quality monitoring. © 2023 Owner/Author.
