This paper provides a high dependability framework for developing real time embedded control software. Design pattern and behavior generator support hierarchical composition of real-time concurrent component. Hierarchy composition abstraction preserves the properties of different computation model in a real time environment. A simplified real-time embedded control software system is implemented to prove the feasibility in choosing control platforms as well as a great deal of automation in the validation and synthesis of embedded control component execution.

This paper investigates practical cost-effective DC/DC converter, DC/AC inverter and AC/DC rectifier for an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system with backup proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). The developed power converters can supply high quality power with flexible conversion functions, leading to the establishment of reliable power management for UPS applications. A comprehensive control strategy of the PEMFC is implemented for energy management of the UPS hybrid system. The performances of the proposed power converters and their controllers are evaluated by experimental results, showing that the developed UPS system with backup PEMFC and battery power sources is suitable for industry application.

PLC related applications are more complex as far as more components are involved. If some error occurs, diagnosis can take some time, but a logical procedure will shorten the time needed to locate the fault. The probability of failure of different parts of typical PLC systems shows that 95% of PLC systems are external faults and occur on plant items such as: sensors, actuators, transducers, limit switchers, and others. The possibility of determining the validity of the data gathered from all transducers of the control system assures a way of short time fault detection. Consequently, a fault-tolerant control system must be implemented using redundant structures, representing an alternative for malfunctioning element detection. This paper presents a method used to design and implement a control system based on redundant structures. A case study for the geothermal power plant at the university of Oradea was developed. The redundant structure considered was simulated using MathLab/Simulink and analyzed using different scenarios. Finally, a possible implementation of resulting control system structure is done using a programmable logical controller (PLC).
