Neutrosophic Topological Spaces for Lung Cancer Detection in Chest X-Rays: A Novel Approach to Uncertainty Management

Decision-making in medical diagnosis is often hampered by uncertainties due to incomplete, ambiguous, and evolving information. In reviewing the traditional methods for lung cancer detection, we found that crisp and logic values have more difficulties and challenges. These challenges related to the big data analytics, uncertainty values, and the different circumstances that make it harder for prediction. In this work, we propose a novel approach that use a Neutrosophic Topological Spaces (NTS) for the lung cancer detection in the chest X-ray images. Furthermore, the proposed NTS leverage the strengths points of Neutrosophic Sets (NS) which include the degrees of truth (T), indeterminacy (I), and falsity (F). The proposed model provides more informative results about the uncertainty cases compared with the traditional methods. The results indicated that the proposed NTS approach achieved highest accuracy reached to 85.5% with a sensitivity 88.2%, specificity 82.1%, and AUC 0.91. which mean that the proposed NTS approach are more reliable and efficient than traditional methods for uncertainty. © 2025, University of New Mexico. Technology is changing how students learn in the 21st century significantly. Integrating mobile devices in teaching, learning, and assessment processes has emerged as an important strategy for improving teaching methodologies and students' learning. However, adopting mobile devices presents several challenges, including understanding the students' performance, impact on time, and efficiency in the assessment process. This study explores this area with an empirical study of using mobile devices and compares the results to those using traditional desktop computers. In the educational environment, we investigated students' effective use while interacting with mobile and desktop versions of the Second Introductory programming summative assessment. Multinational/multi-institutional research involved a comparative analysis between two student groups undertaking identical tasks on mobile phones and desktop computers. Our results suggest that the students' results are not affected significantly by using the mobile version of the assessment application. These results highlight the usability of mobile devices as a flexible and effective tool for various educational applications, strengthening their role in the modern learning environment. © 2024 IEEE.

Pulmonary nodules are small, round, or oval-shaped growths on the lungs. They can be benign (noncancerous) or malignant (cancerous). The size of a nodule can range from a few millimeters to a few centimeters in diameter. Nodules may be found during a chest X-ray or other imaging test for an unrelated health problem. In the proposed methodology pulmonary nodules can be classified into three stages. Firstly, a 2D histogram thresholding technique is used to identify volume segmentation. An ant colony optimization algorithm is used to determine the optimal threshold value. Secondly, geometrical features such as lines, arcs, extended arcs, and ellipses are used to detect oval shapes. Thirdly, Histogram Oriented Surface Normal Vector (HOSNV) feature descriptors can be used to identify nodules of different sizes and shapes by using a scaled and rotation-invariant texture description. Smart nodule classification was performed with the XGBoost classifier. The results are tested and validated using the Lung Image Consortium Database (LICD). The proposed method has a sensitivity of 98.49% for nodules sized 3–30 mm.

This paper explores using large language models (LLM) for automatic and source-to-source programming across various cross-platform languages and libraries, including generating CUDA code for high performance computing (HPC). Our proposed solution aims to demonstrate the capabilities of ChatGPT in generating valid CUDA code based on existing OpenMP code obtained from a polyhedral compilers Traco and Dapt. Specifically, we intend to showcase the model’s proficiency in producing equivalent and valid GPU code. Furthermore, we extend the application of our solution by prompting the AI model to generate similar code for another input benchmark, emphasizing its adaptability and versatility across different scenarios. This approach seeks to highlight the model’s capacity to provide automated and efficient solutions for diverse programming challenges. We chose non-trivial kernels from the non-serial polyadic dynamic programming (NPDP) benchmark with non-uniform loops. The focus is on ensuring code validity and understanding limitations in obtaining valid CUDA code. Additionally, we assess the efficiency and scalability of NVIDIA A100 GPU codes generated by artificial intelligence (AI) models, comparing them with optimized Intel Xeon Gold CPU codes from polyhedral optimizers. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Decision-making is crucial in fully autonomous vehicle operations and is expected to greatly influence future transportation systems. Observing the current driving status of autonomous vehicles is vital for its decision-making process. The autonomous connected vehicles on the road send significant data about their movements to the server to maintain continuous training. With the Proof of Authority (PoA) consensus process, blockchain technology provides a valid, decentralised and secure option to improve transactions throughput and minimise delay. The limited computational capacity of vehicles poses a challenge in achieving high accuracy and low latency while training self-driving algorithms. GPT-4V surpassed challenging autonomous systems in scene interpretation and causal thinking. GPT-4V has ability to navigate circumstances without access to database, interpret intentions, and make sound decisions in real-world driving scenarios. The reward function and different driving conditions are organised to allow an optimal search to find the most efficient driving style while ensuring safety. The consequences of the Blockchain-enabled decision-making model (DMM) for Self-Driving Vehicles (SDV) primarily based on GPT-4V and Federated Reinforcement Learning (FRL) would, likely, upgrades in decision-making accuracy, operational performance, statistics integrity, and potentially enhanced learning skills in SDV. Integrating blockchain technology, superior language modelling GPT-4V and FRL may lead to multiplied safety, reliability, and decision-making ability in SDV. This study utilised the Simulation of Urban MObility (SUMO) simulator to assess the ability of SDV to maintain its desired speed consistently and securely in a highway setting using proposed DMM. This study indicates that the suggested DMM, utilising the driving state evaluation approach for SDV, can help these vehicles operate safely and effectively. Polypharmacy is a potential strategy for managing such intricate disorders, encompassing conditions like cancer, diabetes, and age-related issues in older individuals. Nonetheless, when a medication is combined with one or more drugs that either enhance, diminish, or counteract its intended effects, it can lead to undesired adverse reactions. In severe cases, these interactions can cause serious morbidity and increased mortality rates globally. In this study, we collected a Drug-Drug interaction dataset from the DrugBank database. Various chemical features were then extracted from the Simplified Molecular-Input Line-Entry System of interacting drug pairs. Our emphasis was on representing the Molecular Access System fingerprints of these drug pairs. Molecular Access System fingerprints signify the presence or absence of specific substructures in the molecule and were generated using the RDKit Open-Source Cheminformatics Software. Furthermore, we incorporated Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical classifications into our analysis. Finally, we employed various machine learning algorithms, using K-Nearest Neighbor, Random Forest, Logistic Regression, Support Vector Machine, and XGBoost for learning the extracted features and predict large-scale Drug-Drug interactions among various drug pairs. Among these models, the XGBoost model exhibited superior performance across most measurement metrics. © 2024 IEEE.
