The specification of experiments expressed as Complex Analytics Workflows is a complex task that involves many decision-making steps with various degrees of complexity. The use of the context, the expert knowledge, and the potential for its sharing and reuse in the context of experiment specification have not been addressed sufficiently until now. Moreover, to make such knowledge instrumental, it should be coupled with specific probabilistic measures, such as particular assurances, ranking, and verification of various options. The paper aims to present a novel semantic model for probabilistic reasoning in any experimentation context coupled with a functional system for knowledge generation, reuse, and sharing. Internet of Things(IoT)refers to the infrastructures that connect smart devices to the Internet,operating *** connectivitymakes it possible to harvest vast quantities of data,creating new opportunities for the emergence of unprecedented *** ensure IoT securit,various approaches have been implemented,such as authentication,encoding,as well as devices to guarantee data integrity and *** these approaches,Intrusion Detection systems(IDS)is an actual security solution,whose performance can be enhanced by integrating various algorithms,including Machine Learning(ML)and Deep Learning(DL),enabling proactive and accurate detection of *** study proposes to optimize the performance of network IDS using an ensemble learning method based on a voting classification *** combining the strengths of three powerful algorithms,Random Forest(RF),K-Nearest Neighbors(KNN),and Support Vector Machine(SVM)to detect both normal behavior and different categories of *** analysis focuses primarily on the NSL-KDD dataset,while also integrating the recent Edge-IIoT dataset,tailored to industrial IoT *** results show significant enhancements on the Edge-IIoT and NSL-KDD datasets,reaching accuracy levels between 72%to 99%,with precision between 87%and 99%,while recall values and F1-scores are also between 72%and 99%,for both normal and attack *** the promising results of this study,it suffers from certain limitations,notably the use of specific datasets and the lack of evaluations in a variety of *** work could include applying this model to various datasets and evaluating more advanced ensemble strategies,with the aim of further enhancing the effectiveness of IDS.

Mental diseases, mental disorders, or psychological disorders is a large group of symptoms which causes changes to the state of mood and reflect this on the behavior of the person with the mental disorder. It affects the patient's way of thinking, which limits his ability to perform his simple daily needs, and thus, becomes a burden on the individual, and on the surrounding society as well. There are common types of mental disorders such as depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder. In this research, two main objectives are considered. The first objective is determining which is the best classifier for predicting a person's mental disorder among six well-known classifiers. The second objective is determining what is the best feature selection technique to use with mental disorders datasets considering six popular techniques, and with respect to several evaluation metrics. The results revealed that Logistic Regression and Naïve Bayes are the two best classification models, while Info Gain Ratio is the best feature selection method. © 2024 IEEE.

Testing is essential for successful delivery of software solutions and is not always performed by specialist testers. In earlier studies, we noted a wide diversity in the backgrounds of the testers participating in these studies, prompting our research question: Who is Testing? We conducted a qualitative study of over 70 industry testers, covering testers from multiple countries and domains, with information about their backgrounds, hobbies, roles and characteristics. We show testers are from a wide range of backgrounds, with differing needs, characteristics, and problem-solving preferences. Their roles in software projects are multi-faceted, requiring a high cognitive skill level. We discuss how to break stereotyping and best support diversity in testers’ backgrounds and characteristics. We consider whether software testers are different from other software practitioners, and how understanding tester personas helps support of testers and testing. © Evans et al.

Water loss and improper scheduling are problems with traditional irrigation techniques, making it difficult to meet the growing demand for food production while also preserving precious water resources. To address these challenges, this paper introduces a cutting-edge smart irrigation system that leverages the power of the Internet of Things (IoT), data analysis, and machine learning to determine the most efficient way to apply and schedule water for irrigation. The cornerstone of this innovative system is the utilization of a carefully curated dataset, "Crop Irrigation Scheduling,"sourced from Kaggle. This dataset comprises six crucial attributes: Crop Type, Crop Days, Soil Moisture, Temperature, Humidity, and Irrigation. These attributes, described in detail in the dataset's metadata, provide the foundational information required for precise irrigation management. The system operates seamlessly by deploying IoT sensors to collect real-time data from the field. This data is then preprocessed to ensure its quality and consistency. Subsequently, a machine learning model is trained using this dataset to make intelligent irrigation decisions in real time. The model's predictions are seamlessly integrated with control mechanisms that govern the irrigation process. Moreover, the system offers an intuitive API for easy data access and management, allowing agricultural professionals to monitor and adjust irrigation strategies effortlessly. Experimental findings validate the system's utility, with particular emphasis on the decision tree model, which demonstrates the best balance of accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score. This system maximizes crop yield and minimizes water waste, contributing to a more sustainable and productive agricultural ecosystem. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper focuses on improving human activity recognition using smartphones by training the model using H2O AutoML on a dataset called WISDM. This dataset was collected from smartphone users performing various human activities such as walking, jogging, standing, sitting, upstairs, and downstairs, and was used to train the model. The model's performance was improved using H2O AutoML and evaluated using various performance metrics such as classification accuracy and F1 score. The results showed significant improvement in the model's performance in identifying various human activities, indicating the effectiveness of using H2O AutoML to improve machine learning-based models for human activity recognition using smartphones. This model can be used in various applications such as fitness, healthcare, and smart application control. It is expected to improve users' quality of life and performance in various fields. © 2024 IEEE.

Predicting software vulnerability based on software metrics: a deep learning approach

The security of IT systems is the topmost priority of software developers. Software vulnerabilities undermine the security of computer systems. Lately, there have been a lot of reported issues of software vulnerabilities recorded in individuals and corporate systems. Software metrics-based techniques have been used and found to be effective due to low false positives and false negatives. However, there are software metrics that have not been investigated and could have an impact on the performance of the predictive model. In this study, we developed an ensemble deep learning algorithm made of LSTM, CNN, and MLP models with the non-investigated metrics as a feature to learn the latent representation of code metrics to predict anomalies in source code effectively. We trained the proposed model on the SySeVR datasets and compared the model's performance against five deep learning algorithms and four state-of-the-art SVPs. The proposed model performs better than the other deep learning with a classification accuracy of 96.17%, and a precision of 97.72%. The model's classification accuracy is 4.98% higher than that of the five deep learning models and 1.71% lower in precision than the state-of-the-art SVP. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

Water is vital for all life, serving as the foundation for plants and aquatic creatures and promoting abundance among all living beings. This study introduces an innovative approach by combining the Internet of Things (IoT) with advanced sensing techniques to assess water quality. The IoT-powered water quality testing raft has been developed to significantly enhance the monitoring capabilities. Equipped with sensors measuring key parameters such as turbidity, pH, and temperature, the raft provides a comprehensive understanding of water quality. Its GPS module enables real-time tracking and maintains location history, ensuring precise sampling. The collected data undergoes robust processing by a Raspberry Pi, ensuring integrity before being showcased on the Thingsboard. The system's uniqueness lies in its capacity to promptly issue alerts via LINE Notify upon detecting water quality abnormalities, ensuring timely intervention. This IoT-powered raft represents a paradigm shift in water quality assessment, characterised by its precision, remote capabilities, and user-focused approach. Practical applications have been demonstrated through real-world testing in a private lake in Cha-choengsao province, Thailand. The seamless integration of IoT into environmental monitoring marks a significant advancement in ensuring water quality and ecosystem health. © 2024 IEEE.
