This research aims to enhance Clinical Decision Support systems(CDSS)within Wireless Body Area Networks(WBANs)by leveraging advanced machine learning ***,we target the challenges of accurate diagnosis in medical imaging and sequential data analysis using Recurrent Neural Networks(RNNs)with Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM)layers and echo state *** models are tailored to improve diagnostic precision,particularly for conditions like rotator cuff tears in osteoporosis patients and gastrointestinal *** diagnostic methods and existing CDSS frameworks often fall short in managing complex,sequential medical data,struggling with long-term dependencies and data imbalances,resulting in suboptimal accuracy and delayed *** goal is to develop Artificial Intelligence(AI)models that address these shortcomings,offering robust,real-time diagnostic *** propose a hybrid RNN model that integrates SimpleRNN,LSTM layers,and echo state cells to manage long-term dependencies ***,we introduce CG-Net,a novel Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)framework for gastrointestinal disease classification,which outperforms traditional CNN *** further enhance model performance through data augmentation and transfer learning,improving generalization and robustness against data scarcity and *** validation,including 5-fold cross-validation and metrics such as accuracy,precision,recall,F1-score,and Area Under the Curve(AUC),confirms the models’***,SHapley Additive exPlanations(SHAP)and Local Interpretable Model-agnostic Explanations(LIME)are employed to improve model *** findings show that the proposed models significantly enhance diagnostic accuracy and efficiency,offering substantial advancements in WBANs and CDSS.

A wireless sensor network (WSN) is a system of interconnected sensors that can gather environmental information. On the other hand, data redundancy is a common source of problems with WSNs. The literature presents a plethora of approaches. Despite these mechanisms’ best efforts, most current systems still need help with difficulties like noise, redundancy, or application specificity. Thus, we proposed an algorithm to overcome all the problems with redundant and highly correlated data. The longest common subsequence (LCSS)-enabled sliding window algorithm can resolve issues in constrained networks related to energy conservation and congestion control. The proposed method exhibits remarkable performance on multiple benchmark datasets. According to the result analysis, the suggested technique can outperform its equivalents for a range of data sets by about 32%. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Multi-objective optimization is critical for problem-solving in engineering,economics,and *** study introduces the Multi-Objective Chef-Based Optimization Algorithm(MOCBOA),an upgraded version of the Chef-Based Optimization Algorithm(CBOA)that addresses distinct *** approach is unique in systematically examining four dominance relations—Pareto,Epsilon,Cone-epsilon,and Strengthened dominance—to evaluate their influence on sustaining solution variety and driving convergence toward the Pareto *** comparison investigation,which was conducted on fifty test problems from the CEC 2021 benchmark and applied to areas such as chemical engineering,mechanical design,and power systems,reveals that the dominance approach used has a considerable impact on the key optimization measures such as the hypervolume *** paper provides a solid foundation for determining themost effective dominance approach and significant insights for both theoretical research and practical applications in multi-objective optimization.

Stance detection deals with identifying an author's stance towards a target. Most existing stance detection models are limited because they do not consider relevant contextual information which allows for inferring the stance correctly. Complementary context can be found in knowledge bases but integrating the context into pretrained language models is non-trivial due to the graph structure of standard knowledge bases. To overcome this, we explore an approach to integrate contextual information as text which allows for integrating contextual information from heterogeneous sources, such as structured knowledge sources and by prompting large language models. Our approach can outperform competitive baselines on a large and diverse stance detection benchmark in a cross-target setup, i.e. for targets unseen during training. We demonstrate that it is more robust to noisy context and can regularize for unwanted correlations between labels and targetspecific vocabulary. Finally, it is independent of the pretrained language model in use. © 2023 Association for Computational Linguistics.

Cardiac arrhythmias pose a significant challenge to health care, requiring accurate and reliable detection methods to enable early diagnosis and treatment. However, traditional ECG beat classification methods often lack robustness and fail to generalize effectively to diverse clinical scenarios, particularly when using single-lead-I recordings, which are less studied compared to lead II. To address this gap, this paper proposes a novel method that combines deep learning and empirical mode decomposition (EMD) for arrhythmia detection using single-lead-I ECG recordings obtained with electrodes on each hand. The hybrid model comprises 149 layers of one-dimensional convolution, max pooling, and residual blocks. By leveraging EMD, it classifies ECG beats into normal beats, premature ventricular contractions, and atrial premature beats with high sensitivity (99.86%, 99.72%, and 99.84%, respectively) using the first four intrinsic mode functions (IMFs). The proposed method is applicable in clinical and out-of-hospital monitoring scenarios, and an accompanying web application provides real-time analysis and diagnostic results. This approach addresses a critical gap in lead-I ECG analysis, enhancing diagnostic precision and expanding the scope of ECG applications in health care. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2025.

In the field of automated language processing, distinguishing between Moroccan Arabic (Darija) in multilingual contexts is a major challenge. This study addresses this challenge by exploiting feature selection techniques to improve the accuracy of tongue detection. Using a comprehensive methodology integrating various feature selection methods, including TF-idf, CBOW, Word2Vec for feature extraction, LASSO regression, decision trees for machine learning techniques, and statistical feature selection such as ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and Mutual information, alongside semantic techniques by developing our semantic encoders adapted to Arabic data, we strive to uncover the most important, relevant language features while attenuating the noise. As a result, we have obtained robust results by applying the famous XGBOOST, with conventional extraction methods and SVD as a dimensional reduction method with a very reasonable execution time. Our experimental results highlight the effectiveness of feature selection techniques to reinforce supervised learning tasks. This research not only advances the field of natural language processing but also highlights the central role of feature selection in deciphering complex linguistic landscapes. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of computer Applications and Management 2024.

Body fitness monitoring applications are using mobile sensors to identify human activities. Human activity identification is a challenging task because of the wide availability of human activities. This paper proposes a novel technique that extracts the discriminative dimensions for human activity identification. Particularly, a novel technique with convolutional neural networks (CNN) is used for catching dependency. A deep convolutional neural network (DCNN) consists of two different types of layers, convolutional and pooling are used. The depth of each filter increases from left to right in the network. Three activities like walking, running, remaining still are collected from smart mobile sensors. The axis like x, y, and z information was transferred with column vector magnitude information and utilised for studying or training CNN. Experimental results show that CNN-based method achieves 93.67% accuracy than the baseline random forest approach's 89.20%. Copyright © 2023 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

Modified simulated annealing for university teacher course assignment considering socio-cultural constraints

This paper aims to address the complex challenge of course assignment for faculty members within a Saudi university, taking into account the socio-cultural constraints imposed by gender-based segregation between students and faculty. To tackle this challenge, a combinatorial optimization model is proposed, which includes a binary representation of the problem, constraints reflecting gender segregation, and an objective function designed to maximize faculty satisfaction. The model employs a Simulated Annealing (SA) algorithm, supplemented with two neighborhood search heuristics (H1 and H2), to explore diverse combinations. Additionally, a greedy randomized adaptive search procedure Greedy Randomized Adaptive Search Procedure (GRASP) algorithm is implemented for comparative analysis, utilizing heuristic 1 for local search. Through the application of simulated annealing alongside both heuristics (SA_H1_H2), the optimal solution is achieved, resulting in a notable equilibrium of courses among faculty members. Objective 1 demonstrates the standardized deviation in workload distribution among faculty members, yielding a deviation value of 0.08. This study contributes to the field by proposing a novel approach to course assignment that explicitly addresses the gender-based segregation prevalent in Saudi universities. By integrating socio-cultural constraints into the optimization model and employing advanced algorithms, the study offers a pioneering solution to a previously unexplored problem domain. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of computer Applications and Management 2024.

Context: Usability is a major factor in the acceptance of digital health (DH) solutions. Problem: Despite its importance, usability experts have expressed concerns about the insufficient attention given to usability evaluation in practice, indicating potential efficiency problems of common evaluation methods in the health care domain. Objectives: This research paper aimed to analyse industrial usability evaluation practices in digital health to identify potential threats to the efficiency of their application. Method: To this end, we conducted an online survey of 144 usability experts experienced in usability evaluations for digital health applications. The survey questions aimed to explore the prevalence of techniques applied, and the participants’familiarity and perceptions regarding tools and techniques. Results: The prevalently applied techniques might impose efficiency problems in common scenarios in digital health. Participant recruitment is considered time consuming and selecting the most appropriate evaluation method for a given context is perceived difficult. The results highlight a lack of utilisation of tools automating aspects of usability evaluation. Conclusions: A more widespread adoption of tools for automating usability evaluation activities seems desirable as well as guidelines for selecting evaluation techniques in a given context. We furthermore recommend to explore AI-based solutions to address the problem of involving targeted user groups that are difficult to access for usability evaluations. © 2024 by SCITEPRESS – science and Technology Publications, Lda.
