Light field cameras hold significant value in applications such as depth estimation, 3D video acquisition, and image super-resolution. Compared to traditional single-image super-resolution methods, light field images can capture object information from multiple spatial and angular perspectives, which is more conducive to capturing detail information. However, current advanced light field super-resolution models still exhibit issues like blurriness, jaggedness, and dimness in 4x light field super-resolution. To address this, we propose a novel light field super-resolution framework that utilizes the Retinex decomposition concept to solve common problems such as ghosting and overlap, thereby improving image quality. By decomposing the light field image into illumination and reflection components and processing them separately, our model significantly enhances detail preservation and color consistency. Experimental results on multiple datasets demonstrate that our model exhibits outstanding performance, both subjectively and objectively, highlighting the effectiveness of this framework and its broad application potential in the field of computational imaging. © 2025 SPIE.

Abstract: The main objective of this work is to enhance the performance of the Photovoltaic water pumping system to cover the water requirement in rural areas. To do so, it is important to make sure that the PV array produces its maximum power at all times, which can be influenced by external condition (mainly the temperature and irradiation). Hence, we are employing the Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System based MPPT in two ways. The ANFIS controller is considered more accurate and efficient as it uses an artificial neural network to learn from training data and generate fuzzy rules based on that data. Both approaches of ANFIS are used to control the duty cycle of the SEPIC converter, which connects the PV panel to the DC motor feeding the water pump. The system combining the PV panel, the SEPIC converter, the controller and the DC motor, is designed and simulated under MATLAB/Simulink. The effectiveness of behavior change support systems (BCSS) in promoting health and well-being is unflinching. However, its long-term effectiveness is hindered by non-compliance. Research in BCSS that focuses on compliance is scarce, particularly the determinants of compliance intention are not well established. To address this gap, this study investigated the determinants of compliance intention in BCSS by extending the persuasive system design model to include competence, effectiveness, enjoyment, and persuasiveness. By surveying a sample of prospective BCSS users (N=234), partial least squares structural equation modeling was used to evaluate the proposed model. The findings suggest that the prospective users’ perceptions of primary task support and dialogue support, as well as social support and credibility support significantly influenced their perceptions of self-competence and system effectiveness respectively. These perceptions influenced enjoyment, then persuasiveness, and finally compliance intention. Future studies will validate these findings on the compliance behavior of BCSS. © 2023 29th Annual Americas Conference on information systems, AMCIS 2023. All rights reserved.

Traditional agriculture is highly dependent on human participation and experience. Therefore, it is not possible to guarantee crop yield and quality while expanding the production scale. In recent years, based on the continuous development and innovation of IoT and ICT technologies, the concept of smart farming has started to receive the attention of researchers and farmers. However, many existing smart agriculture applications and research are conducted under controlled environments such as greenhouse farming, vertical farming, and hydroponic farming, etc. Few studies have shifted attention to large-scale arable agriculture, thus neglecting the scalability of the system. This work presents a simulation stack (digital mapping) in which the results of running the simulation model in a large-scale class of real-world scenarios are used to enhance the further performance of the proposed farming system in large-scale scenarios. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper presents a series of approaches aimed at enhancing the performance of Aspect-Based Sentiment Analysis (ABSA) by utilizing extracted semantic information from a Semantic Role Labeling (SRL) model. We propose a novel end-to-end Semantic Role Labeling model that effectively captures most of the structured semantic information within the Transformer hidden state. We believe that this end-to-end model is well-suited for our newly proposed models that incorporate semantic information. We evaluate the proposed models in two languages, English and Czech, employing ELECTRA-small models. Our combined models improve ABSA performance in both languages. Moreover, we achieved new stateof-the-art results on the Czech ABSA. © 2023 Incoma Ltd. All rights reserved.

The success of organizations today relies heavily on their intellectual capital, as knowledge is a key resource for value creation. Sharing and transferring knowledge enhances its value, embedding it within an organization’s processes and boosting competitiveness. This study focuses on the Yemen public telecommunication corporation (YPTC), which has adopted a knowledge-focused management approach. This study aims to explore challenges related to knowledge transfer in Yemen’s public sector, where such research is lacking. Using a descriptive and analytical method, data were collected via a questionnaire from 200 employees, yielding a response rate of 88%. The findings indicate a high level of knowledge transfer at YPTC, with individual, organizational, and technological factors identified as significant influences. The key barriers include trust, information technology support, motivation, and social networks. © 2024 IEEE.

Dynamic Terrain Data Exchange in a Collaborative Terrain Editor

In a computer supported cooperative work (CSCW), data consistency between collaborating users is a crucial issue. Based on the type of the application, ensuring data consistency can be a lengthy process that takes time and affects the system’s performance. In most 3D application, terrain data are massive due to its size. Exchanging this data may be expensive and may cause significant delay. In a real-time collaborative terrain editor, this issue becomes more significant due to terrain data exchange is consistently occurred between collaborating users. We present a solution to perform a conflict-free dynamic terrain data exchange in a real-time collaborative terrain editor. Our objective is to develop a method that able to ensure data consistency amongst collaborating peers in real-time manner. The main idea of our method is to split the terrain into smaller patches and synchronize the changes efficiently by only exchanging the modified patches. We applied our solution to a collaborative terrain editor application to test its performance in a real-time collaborative editing session. The tests were done in multiple scenarios, using different patch model, brush size (in the terrain editor), and connection setup between server and collaborating clients. The result shows that our protocol is capable to maintain data consistency between collaborating clients in a real-time terrain edition session. The delay is varied and highly depends on the data size and client-server environment setup. The overall test shows that it is possible to perform a collaborative terrain editing with an acceptable response time delay. In this paper, we present our proposed method, the implementation, and the result data from the test. © 2022 Slovene Society Informatika. All rights reserved.
