Context-aware multi-layered ontology for composite situation model in pervasive computing

With the rapid advancement of technologies and analysis tools in the smart systems, enabling real-time context monitoring of user's living conditions and quality services delivery is increasing. Current studies in this area are focused on developing mobile applications with specific services, based on toolkit that allow developers to obtain context information from sensors. However, there exists a notable lack of ontology able to represent all the necessary context information starting from distributed users, and constantly changing environment. The modeling of user’s domains to represent diverse mobile and IoT devices, and finalizing with the description of user’s composite situations in smart-*(health, home, cities, car, office, etc.) domains. Considering interoperability, reusability, and flexibility, a new context composite situation ontology for smart systems is proposed with better representation of heterogeneous context. The ontology enables to sense, reason, and infer composite situations in various smart domains, prioritizes critical situations and facilitates the delivery of smart mobile service. Proposed ontology is formalized and validated on different smart environments with different user’s situations. Several experiments were carried out with a real-life motivating scenario. Experimental results showed that the proposed approach has reduced queries times and improved flexibility. © 2020 International information and Engineering Technology Association. Natural Language Processing (NLP) is very important in modern data processing taking into consideration different sources, forms and purpose of data as well as information in different areas our industry, administration, public and private life. Our studies concern Natural Language Processing techniques in biomedical field. The increasing volume of information stored in medical health record databases both in natural language and in structured forms is creating increasing challenges for information retrieval (IR) technologies. The paper presents the comparison study of chosen Named Entity Recognition techniques for biomedical field.

The businesses in various fields use the online communication application to gather their data and information with local and global sources. The gathered data may sensitive such as the financial and businesses development information. The hackers or online thief try to stole the valuable data i.e. credit card numbers. The organizations looking for secure online channels in order to transfer their data efficiently and avoid the data thieving. One of the most applicable methods that developed to secure the online transferred data is the cryptography which transfers the original data or information to encrypted formulation. Cryptography still has many drawbacks such as stole and decrypts the original texts using automatic decryption counter. The main aim of this research is to improve the cryptography securing level using supportive method which is Steganography. The Steganography is the processes of hide the data or information in media files such as video, images and audio files. There are four stages represent the methodology of this paper;(1) encrypt the original texts using RSA algorithm, (2) hide the encrypted texts in Image files, (3) extract the encrypted texts from Image files, and (4) decrypt the original texts using decryption key of RSA algorithm. It is expected to improve the security level of the online transferred textual data. The performance of the final results will be evaluated through compare the Image files quality before and after hide the data in these files. The quality of the original and stego Image files need to be same or near in order to maximize the difficulty of detect that there data hide in these files. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

—The emergence of Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) has provided novel insights for many social computing applications such as group recommender systems. As distance among people has been greatly shortened, it has been a more general demand to provide personalized services to groups instead of individuals. In order to capture group-level preference features from individuals, existing methods were mostly established via aggregation and face two aspects of challenges: secure data management workflow is absent, and implicit preference feedbacks is ignored. To tackle current difficulties, this paper proposes secure Artificial Intelligence of Things for implicit Group Recommendations (SAIoT-GR). As for hardware module, a secure IoT structure is developed as the bottom support platform. As for software module, collaborative Bayesian network model and non-cooperative game are can be introduced as algorithms. Such a secure AIoT architecture is able to maximize the advantages of the two modules. In addition, a large number of experiments are carried out to evaluate the performance of the SAIoT-GR in terms of efficiency and robustness. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Predicting online item-choice behavior: A shape-restricted regression approach

This paper examines the relationship between user pageview (PV) histories and their item-choice behavior on an e-commerce website. We focus on PV sequences, which represent time series of the number of PVs for each user-item pair. We propose a shape-restricted optimization model that accurately estimates item-choice probabilities for all possible PV sequences. This model imposes monotonicity constraints on item-choice probabilities by exploiting partial orders for PV sequences, according to the recency and frequency of a user's previous PVs. To improve the computational efficiency of our optimization model, we devise efficient algorithms for eliminating all redundant constraints according to the transitivity of the partial orders. Experimental results using real-world clickstream data demonstrate that our method achieves higher prediction performance than that of a state-of-the-art optimization model and common machine learning methods. With the spread of online social media websites, a huge amount of online content is continuously provided. However, some contents gain an important attention from users while other contents are completely ignored. This highlights the analysis of popularity relative to different social content. The popularity is expressed through measures and features that act as factors expressing and influencing the popularity. Those features vary from an online social media website to another as it depends on the type of social entity. This paper tries to create a normalized view of the popularity metrics independent of the online social media and in relation with specific social entities that are user and media content (i.e. text, image, and video). We propose a Service Provider Interface (SPI) as a contract between users. The SPI offers a variety of interfaces for implementing services related to the quantification of social entities popularity independently of the online social media they belong to. Observabililty is an important topic of Boolean control networks (BCNs). There are four types of observability which are proposed to capture the ability to determine BCNs' initial states by four different algorithms, respectively, and each of them is applied to a kind of applications. In this paper, we study the weakness of the third type of observability for identification problem. It is proposed in Cheng et al. [2011b] that a BCN is identifiable if and only if it satisfies controllability and the third type of observability. But we find that a BCN is identifiable iff it satisfies the controllability and a new type of observability named online observability. Technological advancements have made it possible to deliver mobile health interventions to individuals. A novel framework that has emerged from such advancements is the just-in-time adaptive intervention (JITAI), which aims to suggest the right support to the individuals when their needs arise. The micro-randomized trial (MRT) design has been proposed recently to test the proximal effects of the components of these JITAIs. However, the extant MRT framework only considers components with a fixed number of categories added at the beginning of the study. We propose a more flexible MRT (FlexiMRT) design which allows addition of more categories to the components during the study. Note that the number and timing of the categories added during the study need to be fixed initially. The proposed design is motivated by collaboration on the DIAMANTE study, which learns to deliver effective text messages to encourage physical activity among patients with diabetes and depression. We developed a new test statistic and the corresponding sample size calculator for the FlexiMRT using an approach similar to the generalized estimating equation for longitudinal data. Simulation studies were conducted to evaluate the sample size calculators and an R shiny application for the calculators was developed. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The objective of the research is to evaluate the implementation of the Education ERP system in the university and identify the factors that influence the success in its implementation. The analytical method used is the Structural Equation Model (SEM) with a software tool SMARTPLS 3. The results of this research can identify the critical success factors (CSFs) in the implementation of the education ERP system in university and its relationship with the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and user satisfaction variables. The object of this research is the education ERP system called BINUS Campus Solution (BCS) that is implemented at BINUS University. The conclusions that are obtained are CSFs from the implementation of the education ERP system in the university are training, technology selection adaptation, vendor relationship, and strategy fit. The ease of use has significant effect on benefits and user satisfaction. The benefits and strategy fit have a significant effect on user satisfaction. The training and vendor relationship have a significant effect on ease of use. All CSFs when combined together significantly affect the ease of use, benefits, and user satisfaction. © 2018 IEEE.

Online robust and adaptive learning from data streams

In online learning from non-stationary data streams, it is necessary to learn robustly to outliers and to adapt quickly to changes in the underlying data generating mechanism. In this paper, we refer to the former attribute of online learning algorithms as robustness and to the latter as adaptivity. There is an obvious tradeoff between the two attributes. It is a fundamental issue to quantify and evaluate the tradeoff because it provides important information on the data generating mechanism. However, no previous work has considered the tradeoff quantitatively. We propose a novel algorithm called the stochastic approximation-based robustness-adaptivity algorithm (SRA) to evaluate the tradeoff. The key idea of SRA is to update parameters of distribution or sufficient statistics with the biased stochastic approximation scheme, while dropping data points with large values of the stochastic update. We address the relation between the two parameters: one is the step size of the stochastic approximation, and the other is the threshold parameter of the norm of the stochastic update. The former controls the adaptivity and the latter does the robustness. We give a theoretical analysis for the non-asymptotic convergence of SRA in the presence of outliers, which depends on both the step size and threshold parameter. Because SRA is formulated on the majorization-minimization principle, it is a general algorithm that includes many algorithms, such as the online EM algorithm and stochastic gradient descent. Empirical experiments for both synthetic and real datasets demonstrated that SRA was superior to previous methods. As SRA is based on assumptions that an abrupt change occurs in parameters or sufficient statistics of true distribution and that noisy distribution obeys the uniform distribution, it would be expected for SRA to be theoretically guaranteed in more general settings, such as incremental (gradual) changes and other noisy distributions.
