In this paper, we propose a new type of hybrid discrete orthogonal moments called the Tchebichef-Charlier (TC) moments. This type of moment is created on the basis of the Tchebichef and Charlier polynomials in order to exploit the important properties of each one of these polynomials. This paper also suggests a new fast method for the reconstruction of the large-size 1D signal. This proposed method requires the signal conversion from 1D to 2D space and then the use of matrix formulations for the reconstruction in the 2D space. The simulations performed clearly show the usefulness of the proposed hybrid TC moments for the reconstruction and for the localization of regions of interest (ROI) of a large-size 1D signal.

Although showing competitive performances in many real world optimization problems, Teaching Learning based Optimization Algorithm (TLBO) has been criticized for having poor control on exploration and exploitation. Addressing these issues, a new variant of TLBO called Adaptive Fuzzy Teaching Learning based Optimization (ATLBO) has been developed in the literature. This paper describes the adoption of Fuzzy Adaptive Fuzzy Teaching Learning based Optimization (ATLBO) for software module clustering problem. Comparative studies with the original Teaching Learning based Optimization (TLBO) and other Fuzzy TLBO variant demonstrate that ATLBO gives superior performance owing to its adaptive selection of search operators based on the need of the current search. Drug-drug interactions (DDIs) are critical in pharmaceutical research, as adverse interactions can pose significant risks for patient treatment plans. Accurate prediction of DDI events risk levels can provide valuable guidance for designing safer and more effective medical regimens. However, existing approaches often focus on interaction networks while overlooking the inherent molecular properties of drugs. In this study, we present Taco-DDI, a novel drug representation learning framework that utilizes a graph transformer-based model combined with a dynamic co-attention mechanism. Taco-DDI leverages the transformer architecture to derive atom-level feature encodings, capturing comprehensive molecular representations. Furthermore, it employs an adaptive co-attention matrix to identify essential substructures in drug molecules solely from structural information. Our results demonstrate that Taco-DDI achieves a 6.59 % relative accuracy improvement in DDI events risk levels prediction. Additionally, interpretability analysis confirms that Taco-DDI provides meaningful insights into DDI mechanisms, highlighting its practical utility as a robust tool for identifying DDI events risk levels.

In this multi-messenger astronomy era, all the observational probes are improving their sensitivities and overall performance. The Focusing on Relativistic universe and Cosmic Evolution (FORCE) mission, the product of a JAXA/NASA collaboration, will reach a 10 times higher sensitivity in the hard X-ray band (E > 10 keV) in comparison with any previous hard X-ray missions, and provide simultaneous soft X-ray coverage. FORCE aims to be launched in the early 2030s, providing a perfect hard X-ray complement to the ESA flagship mission Athena. FORCE will be the most powerful X-ray probe for discovering obscured/hidden black holes and studying high energy particle acceleration in our Universe and will address how relativistic processes in the universe are realized and how these affect cosmic evolution. FORCE, which will operate over 1–79 keV, is equipped with two identical pairs of supermirrors and wideband X-ray imagers. The mirror and imager are connected by a high mechanical stiffness extensible optical bench with alignment monitor systems with a focal length of 12 m. A light-weight silicon mirror with multi-layer coating realizes a high angular resolution of 00 in half-power diameter in the broad bandpass. The imager is a hybrid of a brand-new SOI-CMOS silicon-pixel detector and a CdTe detector responsible for the softer and harder energy bands, respectively. FORCE will play an essential role in the multi-messenger astronomy in the 2030s with its broadband X-ray sensitivity. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

A voltage-mode boost converter is analyzed. Due to changes of the input voltage converter exhibits different steady-states. The change of steady-state from period-one to quasiperiodic steady-state is observed. The increase of inductor current due to that change is much larger than due to any other change of steady-state. The increase of inductor effective current increases inductor copper losses while the increase of inductor peak current increases switches current stress. The significant increase of effective value and peak value in quasiperiodic steady-state is not well known to the switching power converter community, so it is important fact that must be taken into account when designing the boost converter.

Providing easy access for university executives that refers to key success factors is a must for universities. The information system integrates with all departments to obtain fast and accurate information for decision making. The purpose of this paper is to determine the factors that affect the application of executive information systems in universities in view of technological factors, data factors and internal factors of college. The results will be used by all stakeholders of higher education internally and externally. Internal side for the purposeof improving the quality and performance of universities, while the external side can be utilized for the purpose of the institution accreditation process. Dimension reduction approach is one of the main data reduction approaches in order to reduce the storage and processing time while maintaining the integrity of the original data. A wide range of dimension reduction approaches are based on classical approaches such as PCA and Bayer’s, and machine learning approaches such as clustering, and feature selection techniques. However, many of the approaches do not consider the incomplete information systems where some attribute values are missing or incomplete. Only few studies were proposed for the problem in incomplete information systems due to its complexities, specifically on attribute selection. The most popular approaches is based on probability theory to replace missing values with the most common values, or remove the missing objects from the information systems. However, it needs to know the probability distribution of data in advance. To overcome these issues, we propose a new approach based on conditional entropy to reduce dimensionality. The results show that the proposed approach achieves better data reduction with higher accuracy for objects and dimensionality reduction in incomplete information systems. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Many organizations that have the global software development (GSD) projects use communication technologies to connect their virtual teams. However, the virtual team faces various challenges and issues in the process of the GSD. One of the significant challenges is obtaining an efficient communication among team members. This study focuses on the communication factors among the virtual teams highlighted in the literature. The communication factors are related to the temporal distances, geographical distances, socio-cultural, access to training, technological problems that hindering communications, the communication within the status of development process, personal communication skills and language differences. The objective of this study is to examine the communication factors and identify the related issues which are commonly occurring between the virtual teams in the global software development. A survey was conducted in different sectors. The findings indicate that some of important points related to the communication factors contribute to the success of the GSD. © 2018 IEEE.

The multidimensional knapsack problem (MKP) is among the complex optimization problems that have number of practical applications in engineering domain. Several solution methods such as local search and population-based search algorithms have been proposed to solve the MKP. In this paper, a new Binary pigeon-inspired optimization (Binary PIO) algorithm is proposed for solving MKP with focus on 0–1 MKP. For the purpose evaluation, the benchmark instances drawn from the OR library are utilized to test the performance of the proposed binary method. Experimentally, it is concluded that the application of Binary PIO offers promising performance when compared with existing techniques from the literature. © 2018, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
