Gliomas hold a prominent position in neurooncology due to their high malignancy and poor survival rates. Accurately predicting the prognosis and survival risk of glioma patients is crucial for clinical treatment. Recent advances in survival prediction methods emphasize the importance of integrating complementary information from diverse modalities while neglecting the significant modality gap between pathological images and genomic data. To address this issue, we propose a modality-specific knowledge interaction network (MSKI-Net), which integrates whole slide images (WSI), RNA-Seq gene expression data, and copy number variation (CNV) data for glioma survival analysis. The MSKI-Net consists of a modality-specific feature enhancement (MSFE) module, a modality-interactive cross-attention (MICA) module, and a modality-specific knowledge-guided representation learning (MSKR) module. The three modules collaborate by complementing modality-specific features with modality-agnostic knowledge to improve the learning capability of MSKI-Net. Furthermore, we construct a dataset named TCGAmm, which combines WSI, RNA-Seq, and CNV data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) to address the issue of data scarcity. Extensive experiments demonstrate that MSKI-Net achieves superior performance in predicting the survival risk of glioma cancer. © 2024 IEEE.

Short-term traffic flow prediction (TFP) is an important area inintelligent transportation system (ITS), which is used to reduce traffic congestion. But the avail of traffic flow data with temporal features and periodicfeatures are susceptible to weather conditions, making TFP a challengingissue. TFP process are significantly influenced by several factors like accidentand weather. Particularly, the inclement weather conditions may have anextreme impact on travel time and traffic flow. Since most of the existing TFPtechniques do not consider the impact of weather conditions on the TF, it isneeded to develop effective TFP with the consideration of extreme weatherconditions. In this view, this paper designs an artificial intelligence based TFPwith weather conditions (AITFP-WC) for smart cities. The goal of the AITFPWC model is to enhance the performance of the TFP model with the inclusionof weather related conditions. The proposed AITFP-WC technique includesElman neural network (ENN) model to predict the flow of traffic in smartcities. Besides, tunicate swarm algorithm with feed forward neural networks(TSA-FFNN) model is employed for the weather and periodicity analysis. Atlast, a fusion of TFP and WPA processes takes place using the FFNN modelto determine the final prediction output. In order to assess the enhancedpredictive outcome of the AITFP-WC model, an extensive simulation analysisis carried out. The experimental values highlighted the enhanced performanceof the AITFP-WC technique over the recent state of art methods.

ChatGPT is a useful tool for teaching and learning in the context of education. Despite ChatGPT's growing popularity across several fields, little is known about how it is accepted and used, particularly in the context of higher education. ChatGPT holds a lot of potential to be a helpful tool for both students and lecturers. However, in higher education, the introduction of ChatGPT has raised serious questions about academic integrity. Thus, this research focuses on the overview of chatGPT in Higher Education in Indonesia and Malaysia. This study is conducted using the literature review method. According to this research result, this tool can help students and instructors with academic writing, language instruction, and learning in class in Higher Education in Indonesia. Higher Education in Malaysia is also raising optimism that this technology will speed up the transformation of higher education. Even though there are positive and negative effects of ChatGPT. Future research will need to conduct more case studies and interviews to obtain an in-depth comprehension of the application of ChatGPT in learning especially in higher education.

Parkinson's disease ranks as the second most prevalent neurodegenerative disorder globally. This research aims to develop a system leveraging Mixed Reality capabilities for tracking and assessing eye movements. In this paper, we present a medical scenario and outline the development of an application designed to capture eye-tracking signals through Mixed Reality technology for the evaluation of neurodegenerative diseases. Additionally, we introduce a pipeline for extracting clinically relevant features from eye-gaze analysis, describing the capabilities of the proposed system from a medical perspective. The study involved a cohort of healthy control individuals and patients suffering from Parkinson's disease, showcasing the feasibility and potential of the proposed technology for non-intrusive monitoring of eye movement patterns for the diagnosis of neurodegenerative *** relevance - Developing a non-invasive biomarker for Parkinson' s disease is urgently needed to accurately detect the disease's onset. This would allow for the timely introduction of neuroprotective treatment at the earliest stage and enable the continuous monitoring of intervention outcomes. The ability to detect subtle changes in eye movements allows for early diagnosis, offering a critical window for intervention before more pronounced symptoms emerge. Eye tracking provides objective and quantifiable biomarkers, ensuring reliable assessments of disease progression and cognitive function. The eye gaze analysis using Mixed Reality glasses is wireless, facilitating convenient assessments in both home and hospital settings. Knee Osteoarthritis (KOA) is becoming one of the most frequent degenerative and irreversible diseases in elderly people. Its early detection and diagnosis is also a difficult and time-intensive task. The recent advances in Machine Learning (ML) and computer Vision (CV) created new paths to automatically detect KOA in the early stages. Detecting and grading the severity of KOA requires a dedicated ML model. This paper proposes a Side-by-Side Additive Network (SSANet)-based model for detecting and grading the severity of KOA. Since KOA affects the knee joint space by narrowing the gap between the joints, we preprocess the X-ray images to detect the Region of Interest (ROI) before the training of the model. From experimental results, it is evidenced that the ROI selection is really improving the detection accuracy of the model. Unlike sequentially connected convolution layer-based deep learning models, the proposed SSANet is based on a parallel convolution layer to reduce the degradation of feature quality. Again, to enhance the edge feature maps, we apply an additive layer that couples the previous layers’ convolutional output. SSANet captures both high-level and low-level features to predict the KOA severity effectively. The presence of a smaller number of layers and fewer numbers of learnable parameters than the existing popular deep learning models, make SSANet a time and space-efficient network. Moreover, the performance of the proposed SSANet in detecting KOA severity is significantly superior to that of other popular state-of-the-art networks. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

The number of electronic devices involved in cyber related crimes has increased significantly in the last few years. This is primarily due to advancements in technology and increased accessibility to devices. This poses significant challenges with respect to forensic investigations as investigators are faced with processing huge volumes of data from various sources within a limited time. Due to the urgency, frequency, and magnitude of some cases, investigators may miss deadlines, and crucial leads. In this paper, we consider these above stated challenges and propose a new definition for big data forensics, which recognises the time aspect and variety of sources when carrying our digital forensics. This definition will help digital forensic tool designers consider these critical aspects and design comprehensive tools to combat the limitations of the current state-of-the-art. We review an existing tool, the Forensic Cloud Environment (FCE), against the proposed definition. We show how its design leverages the power of Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS), HBase, and MapReduce to provide a comprehensive solution for big data forensics. In conclusion, we provide an argument for FCE as a solution for resolving big data forensic challenges based on general Scientific Working Group on Digital Evidence (SWGDE) forensic principles. © 2022 IEEE.

Efficient, precise, and intuitive navigation in a Virtual Environment (VE) or in desktop Virtual Reality (VR) is critical to improving user experience. This research introduces three navigation designs for physical embodiment inside VE using a computer mouse for multi-browser VE in desktop VR based on navigation possibilities. Navigation is intended for the First-Person Shooter (FPS) perspective: Intuitive Navigation (IntuNav), Edge Shift Navigation (EdgeNav), and Twist Shift Navigation (TwistNav). IntuNav uses mouse x and y coordinate movements to move and rotate the camera. EdgeNav relies on the cursor positioning at the edge of the screen for camera rotation and movement. TwistNav uses a middle click and right mouse click for camera movement and rotation. The current navigation design has been implemented in Unity with C#. This research proposed three model designs based on feasible navigation possibilities, which shows that each navigation model has unique advantages that can be adapted to user needs and preferences. Based on the test results using the System Usability Scale, IntuNav and EdgeNav obtained good results and can be used for further development. © 2024 IEEE.

Security Operation Centers are tasked with collecting and analyzing cyber threat data from multiple sources to communicate warning messages and solutions. These tasks are extensive and resource consuming, which makes supporting approaches valuable to experts. However, to implement such approaches, information about the challenges these experts face while performing these tasks is necessary. We therefore conducted semi-structured expert interviews to identify these challenges.
