A Weakly-Supervised Crowd Density Estimation Method Based on Two-Stage Linear Feature Calibration

In a crowd density estimation dataset,the annotation of crowd locations is an extremely laborious task,and they are not taken into the evaluation *** this paper,we aim to reduce the annotation cost of crowd datasets,and propose a crowd density estimation method based on weakly-supervised learning,in the absence of crowd position supervision information,which directly reduces the number of crowds by using the number of pedestrians in the image as the supervised *** this purpose,we design a new training method,which exploits the correlation between global and local image features by incremental learning to train the ***,we design a parent-child network(PC-Net)focusing on the global and local image respectively,and propose a linear feature calibration structure to train the PC-Net simultaneously,and the child network learns feature transfer factors and feature bias weights,and uses the transfer factors and bias weights to linearly feature calibrate the features extracted from the Parent network,to improve the convergence of the network by using local features hidden in the crowd *** addition,we use the pyramid vision transformer as the backbone of the PC-Net to extract crowd features at different levels,and design a global-local feature loss function(L2).We combine it with a crowd counting loss(LC)to enhance the sensitivity of the network to crowd features during the training process,which effectively improves the accuracy of crowd density *** experimental results show that the PC-Net significantly reduces the gap between fullysupervised and weakly-supervised crowd density estimation,and outperforms the comparison methods on five datasets of Shanghai Tech Part A,ShanghaiTech Part B,UCF_CC_50,UCF_QNRF and JHU-CROWD++.

Workout Action Recognition in Video Streams Using an Attention Driven Residual DC-GRU Network

Regular exercise is a crucial aspect of daily life, as it enables individuals to stay physically active, lowers thelikelihood of developing illnesses, and enhances life expectancy. The recognition of workout actions in videostreams holds significant importance in computer vision research, as it aims to enhance exercise adherence, enableinstant recognition, advance fitness tracking technologies, and optimize fitness routines. However, existing actiondatasets often lack diversity and specificity for workout actions, hindering the development of accurate recognitionmodels. To address this gap, the Workout Action Video dataset (WAVd) has been introduced as a significantcontribution. WAVd comprises a diverse collection of labeled workout action videos, meticulously curated toencompass various exercises performed by numerous individuals in different settings. This research proposes aninnovative framework based on the Attention driven Residual Deep Convolutional-Gated Recurrent Unit (ResDCGRU)network for workout action recognition in video streams. Unlike image-based action recognition, videoscontain spatio-temporal information, making the task more complex and challenging. While substantial progresshas been made in this area, challenges persist in detecting subtle and complex actions, handling occlusions,and managing the computational demands of deep learning approaches. The proposed ResDC-GRU Attentionmodel demonstrated exceptional classification performance with 95.81% accuracy in classifying workout actionvideos and also outperformed various state-of-the-art models. The method also yielded 81.6%, 97.2%, 95.6%, and93.2% accuracy on established benchmark datasets, namely HMDB51, Youtube Actions, UCF50, and UCF101,respectively, showcasing its superiority and robustness in action recognition. The findings suggest practicalimplications in real-world scenarios where precise video action recognition is paramount, addressing the persistingchallenges in the field. TheWAVd datas

The most generic and understandable way of communication is by observing facial expressions;Facial Expression Recognition(FER) performance was affected by the differences in ethnicity, culture, and geography. This research proposes a feature grafting-based novel technique to recognize multicultural facial expressions. The Viola-Jones algorithm detects the facial region of an image that is most concentrated. Feature Grafting is used to combine high-level and low-level features. A multicultural facial expression database was created using still images of male and female subjects obtained from three datasets: TFEID, Radboud, and JAFFE. The model is designed and tested using this dataset and the proposed technique. The obtained accuracy using the proposed technique was 94.34% which is better than the state-of-the-art method. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Enhancing the security of Wireless Sensor Networks(WSNs)improves the usability of their ***,finding solutions to various attacks,such as the blackhole attack,is crucial for the success of WSN *** paper proposes an enhanced version of the AODV(Ad Hoc On-Demand Distance Vector)protocol capable of detecting blackholes and malfunctioning benign nodes in WSNs,thereby avoiding them when delivering *** proposed version employs a network-based reputation system to select the best and most secure path to a *** achieve this goal,the proposed version utilizes the Watchdogs/Pathrater mechanisms in AODV to gather and broadcast reputations to all network nodes to build the network-based reputation *** minimize the network overhead of the proposed approach,the paper uses reputation aggregator nodes only for forwarding reputation ***,to reduce the overhead of updating reputation tables,the paper proposes three mechanisms,which are the prompt broadcast,the regular broadcast,and the light broadcast *** proposed enhanced version has been designed to perform effectively in dynamic environments such as mobile WSNs where nodes,including blackholes,move continuously,which is considered a challenge for other *** the proposed enhanced protocol,a node evaluates the security of different routes to a destination and can select the most secure routing *** paper provides an algorithm that explains the proposed protocol in detail and demonstrates a case study that shows the operations of calculating and updating reputation values when nodes move across different ***,the paper discusses the proposed approach’s overhead analysis to prove the proposed enhancement’s correctness and applicability.

Securing digital data from unauthorized access throughout its entire lifecycle has been always a critical concern.A robust data security system should protect the information assets of any organization against cybercriminal *** Twofish algorithm is one of the well-known symmetric key block cipher cryptographic algorithms and has been known for its rapid *** when it comes to security,it is not the preferred cryptographic algorithm to use compared to other algorithms that have shown better *** applications and social platforms have adopted other symmetric key block cipher cryptographic algorithms such as the Advanced Encryption Standard(AES)algorithm to construct their main security *** this paper,a new modification for the original Twofish algorithm is proposed to strengthen its security and to take advantage of its fast *** new algorithm has been named Split-n-Swap(SnS).Performance analysis of the new modification algorithm has been performed using different measurement *** experimental results show that the complexity of the SnS algorithm exceeds that of the original Twofish algorithm while maintaining reasonable values for encryption and decryption times as well as memory utilization.A detailed analysis is given with the strength and limitation aspects of the proposed algorithm.

On-device diagnostic recommendation with heterogeneous federated BlockNets

The evolution of edge computing has advanced the accessibility of E-health recommendation services, encompassing areas such as medical consultations, prescription guidance, and diagnostic assessments. Traditional methodologies predominantly utilize centralized recommendations, relying on servers to store client data and dispatch advice to ***, these conventional approaches raise significant concerns regarding data privacy and often result in computational inefficiencies. E-health recommendation services, distinct from other recommendation domains, demand not only precise and swift analyses but also a stringent adherence to privacy safeguards, given the users' reluctance to disclose their identities or health information. In response to these challenges, we explore a new paradigm called on-device recommendation tailored to E-health diagnostics, where diagnostic support(such as biomedical image diagnostics), is computed at the client *** leverage the advances of federated learning to deploy deep learning models capable of delivering expert-level diagnostic suggestions on clients. However, existing federated learning frameworks often deploy a singular model across all edge devices, overlooking their heterogeneous computational capabilities. In this work, we propose an adaptive federated learning framework utilizing BlockNets, a modular design rooted in the layers of deep neural networks, for diagnostic recommendation across heterogeneous devices. Our framework offers the flexibility for users to adjust local model configurations according to their device's computational power. To further handle the capacity skewness of edge devices, we develop a data-free knowledge distillation mechanism to ensure synchronized parameters of local models with the global model, enhancing the overall accuracy. Audio verification in forensic investigation using light deep neural network

Recently people have difficulties distinguishing real speech from computer-generated speech so that the synthetic voice is getting closer to a natural-sounding voice, due to the advancements in deep learning and voice-generation techniques. This high level of naturalness allows for synthesizing a person target voice and reproduce someone's voice with high accuracy. Audio forensics is care with improving the speech intelligibility, enhancement, and analysis in order to prove the authentication of recorded audio files it is authentic and no manipulations were done to them. This work proposes the Audio verification model in Forensic Investigation using one Dimensional Convolutional Neural networks with new light architecture. The proposed model build a natural voice characteristics pattern by analysis the information available in an audio file and extract salient features in order to build a feature maps, and then tracked these feature maps over time is the same model to make the decision about whether the audio is Synthetic or not. The proposed model performed in two main stages: the pre-processing stage then verification predictor stage, each stage contained several steps performed different functions. The experiments were conducted on a last version benchmark dataset called the Fake-or-Real Dataset from the APTLY lab and ASVspoof 2019 dataset. The proposed model achieve successful results, so that the accuracy realizes 99.89% (± 1.78%), and the value of the loss function is 0.007 on the Fake-or-Real Dataset, and achieved a 0.006% Equal Error Rate (EER) on ASVSpoof 2019 dataset. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of computer Applications and Management 2024.

Modern Standard Arabic speech disorders corpus for digital speech processing applications

Digital speech processing applications including automatic speech recognition (ASR), speaker recognition, speech translation, and others, essentially require large volumes of speech data for training and testing purposes. Although there are available speech corpora, speech data for speakers suffering speech disorders are hardly available for many languages including Arabic language. Consequently, developing digital speech processing applications that target the entire society becomes hard due to the unavailability of speech corpora that contain sufficient speakers’ variations including healthy and disordered speech. This research presents our work towards developing a Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) speech corpus for speakers suffering distortion and substitution articulation disorders. The speech corpus was recorded by 40 (20 male and 20 female) Jordanian speakers who suffer either distortion or/and substitution articulation disorders. This speech corpus can be used for various applications including ASR, speech and hearing, and others. Part of this speech corpus is used for developing and evaluating an ASR for MSA using the Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) Pocketsphinx tools based on Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC) and Hidden Markov Model (HMM) techniques. Furthermore, Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) and Maximum Likelihood Linear Transform (MLLT) optimization techniques were applied. Using three different testing data sets, this work obtained 98.38% and 1.76% average word recognition correctness rate (WRCR) and average Word Error Rate (WER), respectively, for speaker-dependent and text-independent. For speaker-independent and text-dependent, this work obtained 99.37% and 0.68% average WRCR and average WER, respectively, whereas for speaker-independent and text-independent this work obtained 96.53% and 4.00% average WRCR and average WER, respectively. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Natur
