CNN-based cancer prediction scheme using 5G-assisted federated learning for healthcare Industry 5.0

Healthcare Industry 5.0 has witnessed a transformative change by incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet-of-things (IoT), and genomics to provide individualized and patient-centered healthcare. It prioritizes comprehensive health, proactive strategies for chronic diseases like tumors, cancer, etc., and effective cooperation among participants. Much work has been done for cancer prediction using machine learning and deep learning approaches. However, it has yet to be fully explored to protect data privacy and security by limiting data sharing. So, this paper proposes a Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN)-based Cancer Prediction scheme, i.e., CNN-CPS within the context of Healthcare Industry 5.0. The proposed scheme harnesses the capabilities of 5G-assisted Federated Learning (FL), a revolutionary method for predicting cancer occurrences with data privacy, security, and limiting data sharing. Then, it also leverages model data from dispersed systems to boost efficiency. By capitalizing on the speed and efficiency of 5G networks and the collaborative nature of FL, precise cancer predictions can be attained, all while upholding the confidentiality of sensitive data. This integration of technologies has the potential to significantly reshape cancer diagnosis and therapeutic approaches in the Industry 5.0 landscape. Here, 5G can enable real-time data interchange across remote data centers with rapid transmission of data capabilities and low-latency connectivity, enabling more effective and precise model training. Hence, this study examines the FL to predict breast cancer and combines the optimizer weights from several clients to continually enhance the performance of the overall model. The experimental results show the efficacy of the CNN-CPS compared to the existing approaches based on several parameters like low latency (40.77% improvement), accuracy (75%), and loss (0.54). © 2025 The Authors

The gaming industry produces vast amounts of user-generated feedback, making it challenging for developers to efficiently analyze and respond to real-time reviews. This study addresses the problem of classifying large-scale unstructured user feedback from Steam reviews. In this paper an approach that integrates traditional machine learning models and deep learning models is proposed. XGBoost is used to manage feature-rich datasets, reducing overfitting. Long-short-term memory (LSTM) and Bi-directional LSTM are used to enhance the accuracy and robustness of classification. Feature extraction techniques, such as sentiment analysis and topic modeling, are employed to enrich the dataset and improve model performance. The experimental results show that the XGBoost model achieved the highest performance with an accuracy of 0.9499 and a ROC-AUC score of 0.6113, demonstrating superior performance in distinguishing between positive and negative feedback. In comparison, deep learning models such as LSTM and Bi-directional LSTM showed lower ROC-AUC scores, indicating less effectiveness in handling the classification task. This approach offers game developers a reliable and scalable solution for classifying user sentiment, leading to better game improvements based on user reviews. © 2025 by the authors of this article.

The public release of ChatGPT represents a significant milestone in generative AI technology, enabling the autonomous generation of content based on pre-training. This breakthrough presents new opportunities for advancements in the field of portfolio selection. This paper aims to introduce a comprehensive portfolio selection method by applying ChatGPT for stock selection and combining it with optimization algorithms to jointly optimize portfolio selection. Compared to randomly selected stocks, the portfolios optimized using ChatGPT-selected stocks and solved with the egret swarm optimization algorithm (ESOA) demonstrate higher diversification and lower volatility, leading to superior portfolio optimization results. Additionally, to validate ESOA’s superiority, its performance is compared against genetic algorithm (GA) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) on five metrics: risk, expected return, Sharpe ratio, objective value, and penalty term. As healthcare services have become increasingly digitized, Electronic Health Records (EHRs) have become widely adopted, providing seamless data exchange among providers. Conventional EHRs, however, are extremely vulnerable to cyber threats because patients' sensitive data is centralized and transmitted electronically. The paper proposes a decentralized, privacy-preserving framework for managing EHRs on blockchains in order to address these security and privacy concerns. Using cryptographic techniques, such as homomorphic encryption and zero-knowledge proofs, the proposed system enhances security and ensures data integrity. Additionally, the model facilitates scalable, efficient, and secure access to patient records through the integration of cloud-based storage and blockchain. Using smart contracts, we also ensure compliance with healthcare regulations by regulating access control and authentication. As a result of performance evaluations, the proposed approach is demonstrated to be feasible, and the advantages it offers in terms of security, privacy, and efficiency are highlighted. © 2025 The Authors

In this paper, the current, voltages, as well as active and reactive power of the 400 kV transmission line are calculated using three different methods. The objective of the paper is to demonstrate and compare three different approaches that are based on laboratory measurement, analytical approach, and computer simulation. Measurements are carried out on the laboratory model of a real-life 400 kV transmission line while analytical approach is conducted using a short line model with lumped parameters. As a last approach, the transmission line is modeled in a computer program for power flow analysis, and power flow simulations with the same parameters as for the previous two methods are performed. All three methods are used to calculate voltages, currents, and powers at the beginning and at the end of the transmission line for a few scenarios. Results are compared and discussed in order to demonstrate the possibilities of the applied approaches for the education of power system engineers. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

DeepFakes and face image manipulation methods have been widely distributed in the last few years and several techniques have been presented to check the authenticity of the face image and detect manipulation if exists. Most of the available manipulation detection techniques have been successfully applied to reveal one type of manipulation under specific conditions, however, many limitations and challenges can be encountered in this field. To overcome some limitations and challenges, this paper presents a new face image authentication (FIA) scheme based on Multi-Task Cascaded Conventional Neural Networks (MTCNN) and watermarking in Slantlet transform (SLT) domain. The proposed FIA scheme has three main algorithms that are face detection and selection, embedding, and extraction algorithms. Different block sizes have been used to divide the image into non-overlapping blocks followed by classifying them into two groups that are blocks from face area (FA) and blocks from the remaining area (RA) of the image. In the embedding algorithms, the authentication information is generated from FA blocks and embedded in the RA blocks. In the extraction algorithms, the embedded information is extracted from RA blocks and compared with the calculated data from FA blocks to reveal manipulations and localize the manipulated blocks if exist. Extensive experiments have been conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed FIA scheme for different face images. The experimental work included tests for payload, capacity, visual quality, time complexity, and localization of manipulations. The results proved the efficiency of the proposed scheme in detecting and localizing different face image manipulations such as attributes attacks, retouching attacks, expression swap, face swap, and morphing attacks. A collaborative system that includes mobile devices (MDs), edge nodes (ENs), and the cloud is needed where ENs at the network edge can run offloaded tasks of MDs with limited resources and energy for timely processing for latency-sensitive applications. Unlike existing studies, we formulate a total cost minimization problem for the system for applications, which can be divided into several interdependent subtasks. Each subtask can be executed in MDs, ENs, and the cloud. This work formulates a mixed-integer nonlinear program to minimize the total system cost. To address it, a novel meta-heuristic optimization algorithm called Genetic Simulated-annealing-based Particle swarm optimization with Auto-Encoder (GSPAE) is proposed, which innovatively combines feature extraction of deep learning and global search of meta-heuristic optimization. Genetic operations provide diverse solutions, the Metropolis acceptance of annealing offers a robust global search, and autoencoders (AEs) extract distribution characteristics of particles toward high-quality regions for fast convergence. Thus, GSPAE optimizes the associations between ENs and MDs and the scheduling of subtasks among MDs, ENs, and the cloud. Experiments with large-scale Google cluster datasets show that compared to state-of-the-art benchmark methods, GSPAE reduces the total cost by at least 17% while strictly meeting limits of application latency, available energy, computing, and communication resources of ENs and MDs. © 2014 IEEE.

In this letter, a generic extension of complex singular spectrum analysis (CSSA), referred to as GC-SSA, is proposed to enhance mode reconstruction from multivariate signals. This is achieved by introducing adaptive taper windows for CSSA. Specifically, we formulate an optimization problem related to window design for specific multivariate signals, and then employ an iterative algorithm to optimize the coefficients of the taper windows. GC-SSA using optimized taper windows can decompose multivariate signals and perfectly reconstruct time-varying modes that have maximally concentrated energy. Numerical simulations were demonstrated to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method in mode reconstruction compared to other multivariate signal processing methods. © 1994-2012 IEEE.

The creation of new approaches to the design and configuration of smart buildings relies heavily on AI tools and Machine Learning (ML) algorithms, particularly optimization techniques. The widespread use of electronic devices has sparked a strong desire to incorporate the Internet of Things (IoT) into houses, leading to the development of smart homes. As networked gadgets proliferate rapidly, this phenomenon is characterized by rapid proliferation. In smart buildings, smart cities, smart grids, and smart homes, interconnected electronic devices are becoming more popular. The objective of this paper is to enhance the functionality of home automation systems through the performance of speech recognition using the Bat-Salp Swarm Optimization (BSSO). This paper investigates the notion of (BSSO), a data analysis methodology that facilitates the automated construction of analytical models. The implementation of BSSO provides an enhancement to the feature selection process in speech recognition, providing an approximation solution that improves the accuracy of system decisions. The use of the BSSO technique improves the precision of the voice recognition system and also incorporates an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) for the classification part. AFuNet: an attention-based fusion network to classify texts in a resource-constrained language

In the era of widespread Internet use and extensive social media interaction, the digital realm is accumulating vast amounts of unstructured text data. This unstructured data often contain undesirable information, necessitating time-consuming manual classification efforts. An intelligent text classification system capable of automatically categorizing digitized texts based on semantic meaning is crucial. However, this task is particularly challenging for low-resource languages like Bengali due to a shortage of annotated corpora, issues with out-of-vocabulary words, lack of domain-specific hyperparameter tuning, limited ability to extract generalized text features, and class imbalances within the corpus. AFuNet: an attention-based fusion network to classify texts in a resource-constrained language. AFuNet undergoes a comprehensive four-phase experimental process, including baseline model evaluation and hyperparameter tuning, late fusion and model selection, attention-based early fusion and model identification, and an ablation study with impact analysis. Fine-tuned based on five Bengali text classification corpora, AFuNet achieves impressive accuracies: 96.60 ± 0.2 (BTCC11), 85.37 ± 0.2 (OSBC), 97.35 ± 0.2 (BARD), 93.74 ± 0.2 (IndicNLP), and 96.51 ± 0.2 (ProthomAlo). In comparison with previous state-of-the-art models on these corpora, AFuNet demonstrates significant accuracy improvements ranging from 0.54% to 4.49%, showcasing its effectiveness in advancing text classification capabilities for the Bengali language. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2025.
