A fully distributed model-free adaptive sliding mode control (MFASMC) strategy is proposed in this paper for unknown nonlinear multi-agent systems (MASs), in which topology networks are exposed to hybrid attacks consisting of denial-of-service (DoS) and false data injection attacks. Hybrid attacks in topology networks can result in neighbor information dropouts and inaccuracies among agents. First, the MASs with unknown dynamics are translated to equivalent linear data equations by the dynamic linearization technique. Second, the impact of neighbor information dropouts caused by DoS attacks is mitigated by a designed attack compensation mechanism, in which the compensation error is guaranteed to be bounded in the sense of mathematical expectation. Then, a fully distributed MFASMC algorithm, which does not depend on knowledge of the Laplacian matrix, is designed to improve the robustness of MASs with topology networks exposed to hybrid attacks, thus indirectly mitigating the impact of neighbor information inaccuracies. Finally, the consensus error is rigorously proved to be bounded in the sense of mathematical expectation, and the validity of the proposed strategy is confirmed by simulations. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

This study explores the application of machine learning models in forecasting macro-economic indicators, including GDP, inflation rate, unemployment rate, and exchange rate across 11 Southeast Asian countries. The models used include Linear Regression, ARIMA, Random Forest, XGBoost, LSTM, and SVM. We conducted a performance comparison of each model based on MAE, RMSE, and R2 metrics to evaluate the accuracy of the forecasts. The experimental results indicate that Random Forest and XGBoost models excel in predicting nonlinear and complex indicators such as GDP and unemployment rate, while ARIMA and Linear Regression models perform better in time series with clear regular patterns, like inflation rate. The LSTM model shows inconsistent effective-ness, requiring large data volumes and complex optimization processes. SVM demonstrates potential in handling nonlinear data but requires careful tuning. This study concludes that using machine learning models presents significant potential for improving the accuracy of macroeconomic forecasting. However, model tuning and optimization are essential to match the characteristics of each type of economic indicator. Future research directions include developing hybrid models and integrating additional factors such as market sentiment, social and environmental indicators (ESG) to enhance forecasting outcomes. Effective congestion control algorithms (CCAs) are crucial for the smooth operation of Internet communication infrastructure. CCAs adjust transmission rates based on congestion signals, optimizing resource utilization and user experience. However, existing studies, both rule-based and learning-based CCAs, often struggle with generalization and underperform when deployed in real-world environments. When applied to unseen network conditions, hand-crafted schemes or pre-trained models may experience significant performance degradation. To address this challenge, we propose MetaCon, a novel adaptive Internet congestion control approach based on meta-reinforcement learning. MetaCon leverages knowledge learned from prior scenarios to quickly adapt to new environments. Experimental results show that MetaCon outperforms existing algorithms by exhibiting superior generalization and achieving better transmission performance across a wide variety of network conditions. © 2025 IEEE.

The automated segmentation of lungs within chest CT scans remains crucial for many medical applications that require disease diagnosis and treatment design. The presented deep incremental learning (DIL) system addresses fundamental limitations that arise during lung segmentation processes. The exceptional segmentation outcomes result from the neural network structure which includes masked RCNN+UNet for tissue segmentation and GAN+VARMA for classification. Medical literature identifies lung tissue structures as difficult to study because they present irregular forms and complex structures. The task of obtaining precise segmentation proves very challenging. The application of masked RCNN+UNet enables shape control and improves segmentation precision of the lung system. The DIL function helps maintain improved features within segmented images. The applied framework enables improved performance through DSC and MAE and JI metrics evaluation. Experimental evidence shows that the new framework achieves superior performance compared to current top-ranking methods for lung segmentation. The proposed framework exhibits excellent precision and detection efficiency with a DSC value of 0.96 and JI value of 0.93 and a low MAE © 2025 IEEE.

Changing a person’s posture and low resolution are the key challenges for person re-identification(ReID)in various deep learning *** this paper,we introduce an innovative architecture using a dual attention network that includes an attentionmodule and a joint measurement module of spatial-temporal *** proposed approach can be classified into two main ***,the spatial attention feature map is formed by aggregating features in the spatial ***,the same operation is carried out on the channel dimension to formchannel attention ***,the receptive field size is adjusted adaptively tomitigate the changing person posture ***,we use a joint measurement method for the spatial-temporal information to fully harness the data,and it can also naturally integrate the information into the visual features of supervised ReID and hence overcome the low resolution *** experimental results indicate that our proposed algorithm markedly improves the accuracy in addressing changing human postures and low-resolution issues compared with contemporary leading *** proposed method shows superior outcomes on widely recognized benchmarks,which are the Market-1501,MSMT17,and DukeMTMC-reID ***,the proposed algorithmattains a Rank-1 accuracy of 97.4% and 94.9% mAP(mean Average Precision)on the Market-1501 ***,it achieves a 94.2% Rank-1 accuracy and 91.8% mAP on the DukeMTMC-reID dataset.

Epileptic seizures, a prevalent neurological condition, necessitate precise and prompt identification for optimal care. Nevertheless, the intricate characteristics of electroencephalography (EEG) signals, noise, and the want for real-time analysis require enhancement in the creation of dependable detection approaches. Despite advances in machine learning and deep learning, capturing the intricate spatial and temporal patterns in EEG data remains challenging. This study introduced a novel deep learning framework combining a convolutional neural network (CNN), bidirectional gated recurrent unit (BiGRU), and convolutional block attention module (CBAM). The CNN extracts spatial features, the BiGRU captures long-term temporal dependencies, and the CBAM emphasizes critical spatial and temporal regions, creating a hybrid architecture optimized for EEG pattern recognition. Evaluation of a public EEG dataset revealed superior performance compared to existing methods. The model achieved 99.00% accuracy in binary classification, 96.20% in three-class tasks, 92.00% in four-class scenarios, and 89.00% in five-class classification. High sensitivity (89.00–99.00%) and specificity (89.63–99.00%) across all tasks highlighted the model’s robust ability to identify diverse EEG patterns. This approach supports healthcare professionals in diagnosing epileptic seizures accurately and promptly, improving patient outcomes and quality of life. © 2025 American Institute of Mathematical Sciences. Product recommendation systems are a critical element of e-commerce platforms, as they enable customers to identify the items that best meet their needs. Product recommendation systems are important tools used by organizations to increase customer engagement, satisfaction, and loyalty. Existing product recommendation systems have several weaknesses, such as an inability to incorporate features outside of customer preferences. Therefore, this paper proposes an enhanced product recommendation system using a decision tree algorithm. The main objectives of this system are to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the existing product recommendation systems. To accomplish this, a framework includes a data preprocessing phase, a feature selection phase, and a model training phase. The data preprocessing phase is used to clean the data and eliminate any noise. The feature selection phase is used to identify the most informative features, which are then used to train the decision tree model. The model is trained using CART, a supervised learning algorithm, and is evaluated using various metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score. Finally, the model is tested on a test dataset to compare with existing solutions. The results show that the proposed system outperforms existing recommender systems in terms of all the evaluation metrics discussed. Furthermore, the improved system also provides useful insights into the product recommendation process for future studies. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Cardiac arrhythmias pose a significant challenge to health care, requiring accurate and reliable detection methods to enable early diagnosis and treatment. However, traditional ECG beat classification methods often lack robustness and fail to generalize effectively to diverse clinical scenarios, particularly when using single-lead-I recordings, which are less studied compared to lead II. To address this gap, this paper proposes a novel method that combines deep learning and empirical mode decomposition (EMD) for arrhythmia detection using single-lead-I ECG recordings obtained with electrodes on each hand. The hybrid model comprises 149 layers of one-dimensional convolution, max pooling, and residual blocks. By leveraging EMD, it classifies ECG beats into normal beats, premature ventricular contractions, and atrial premature beats with high sensitivity (99.86%, 99.72%, and 99.84%, respectively) using the first four intrinsic mode functions (IMFs). The proposed method is applicable in clinical and out-of-hospital monitoring scenarios, and an accompanying web application provides real-time analysis and diagnostic results. This approach addresses a critical gap in lead-I ECG analysis, enhancing diagnostic precision and expanding the scope of ECG applications in health care. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2025.

The increasing density of mobile networks has made the identification of optimal new coverage sites a critical challenge for mobile operators. Traditional methods relying on manual inspections and council plans are labour-intensive and insufficient. This study addresses this issue by leveraging data science and machine learning techniques to predict the suitability of new mobile cell sites. Utilizing data from Radio Spectrum Management New Zealand and Stats New Zealand, the study employs Random Forest as Machine learning model. Key factors considered include existing operator information and population density. The methodology integrates data cleaning, feature engineering, and model training, with validation performed using Power BI. Results demonstrate an accuracy of 84.62% for the Random Forest model, highlighting the importance of geographical location and population density in site suitability predictions. This approach will streamline the site selection process and enhance service quality, positioning operators as leaders in underserved areas. © 2025 IEEE.
