Securing IIoT operations with recurrent federated network-based enhanced local search grasshopper

The integration of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) brings about a significant improvement in the efficiency and productivity of industrial processes. The speed and accuracy of various tasks have been greatly enhanced with the utilization of IIoT which allows smoother operations and cost-effective solutions, to protect uninterrupted intrusions and avoid potential threats. This article proposes a novel recurrent federated network-based enhanced local search grasshopper (RFN-ELG) algorithm. Datasets like UNSW-NB15 and MQTT-IoT-IDS2020 datasets are employed to determine the performances of IIoT via two diverse phases, namely the data preprocessing phase as well as attack detection phase. The recurrent neural networks (RNNs) are integrated with federated learning (FL) to overcome the gradient issues during the training process. In addition to this, the hyperparameters of RNN-FL are tuned via a grasshopper optimization algorithm with a local search strategy. Accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and false alarm rate (FAR) are the performance metrics taken for attack detection, where accuracy attains the value of 98.1%, precision attains the value of 97.4%, recall attains the value of 96.1%, F1-score attains the value of 97.2%, and FAR attains the value of 96.1%, respectively. Energy-efficient dynamic load balanced clustering for MANET

In Mobile Ad-Hoc Network (MANET), enhancing network lifetime is a challenging issue. Clustering is proved to be a suitable solution to increase scalability and lifetime of MANET. However, it still requires efficient techniques to make clustering energy saving and create a well-balanced clusters. In this paper, we present an energy efficient dynamic load balanced clustering for MANET. Here, we emphasise on energy efficient and load balanced cluster formation by selecting the most suitable nodes to act as cluster head (CH) which can coordinate its cluster members for long period of time. We use technique for self-adjustment of role of CHs dynamically on the basis of fitness factor of nodes so that the lifetime of CHs can be increased which ultimately improves the network lifetime. The simulation results show the efficacy of the proposed work with reference to packet delivery ratio, network lifetime, average number of clusters formed and re-clustering required. Dawwen: An Arabic Mental Health Mobile App Based on Natural Language Processing

People are increasingly concerned about their mental health wellness. Scientific studies suggest that online counselling for anxiety and depression is just as effective as in-person treatment. Additionally, journaling interventions have shown promise for individuals dealing with mental and psychological issues. In recent years, a growing number of mobile applications have been developed to improve people’s mental wellness and emotional commu-nication. However, many of these applications are not available in Arabic but are available only in English or the native languages of their users, while other applications have feature limitations. This study presents a prototype of an interactive mental health mobile application, called Dawwen, to assist Arab individuals in freely expressing their feelings through online journaling, receiving recommendations for practices and activities, and locating nearby therapy centers based on their geolocation. Dawwen is augmented with an easy-to-use interface, a natural language processing (NLP) technique for analyzing the user input, and integrated features. The system is implemented using Android Studio and various cloud-based tools, making it adaptable for the integration of more advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in the future. The System Usability Scale (SUS) scored an average of 88.25%, indicat-ing high user satisfaction with the app’s functionality and ease of use. The study highlights Dawwen’s effectiveness in improving mental health support for Arabic-speaking users, filling a critical gap in existing digital mental health resources. © 2025 by the authors of this article. Performance Assessment of Optimized Link State Routing Protocol on Vehicular Ad Hoc Network Simulation

Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs) are dedicated forms of wireless communication networks designed to handle the challenges of vehicular environments, including high mobility, varying traffic densities, and constantly changing topologies. These factors necessitate the development and evaluation of routing protocols to ensure reliable data communication between vehicles. This study evaluates the performance of the Optimized Link State Routing (OLSR) protocol within Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs), focusing on its capability to handle different traffic densities and dynamic environments. Reliable data communication in VANETs is critical due to the high mobility and constantly changing topologies, especially in urban and highway settings. Using NS-3 for network simulation and Simulation of Urban MObility (SUMO) for realistic vehicular mobility modelling, we conducted a series of simulations to assess OLSR’s performance in low-density and high-density scenarios across highway and urban environments. Key performance metrics, including packet delivery ratio (PDR), end-to-end delay (E2ED) and throughput were analyzed to capture OLSR’s strengths and weaknesses in each setting. The analysis showed that OLSR excels in low-density highway scenarios, achieving a PDR of 100% and low E2ED. However, in high-density urban settings, the protocol encounters performance challenges, with a reduced PDR of 81.40% and a high E2ED of 85.52 seconds, indicating delays in data transmission. These findings emphasize the limitations of OLSR in dense urban environments, highlighting the necessity for adaptive routing protocols that can improve performance in complex, high-density vehicular networks. © 2025, Ital Publication. Machine learning in concept drift detection using statistical measures

In the data stream, the data has non-stationary quality because of continual and inconsistent change. This change is represented as the concept drift in the classifying process of the streaming data. Representing this data drift concept in data stream mining requires pre-labeled samples. However, labeling samples in real-time streaming (online) is not feasible due to resource utilization and time constraints. Therefore, this paper proposes the concept of Probabilistic Concept Drift Detection (PCDD) in the group classifier. PCDD relies on the data stream classification process and provides concept drift without labeled samples. The PCDD model is evaluated through an empirical study on a dataset called Poker-Hand. The study results show a high concept drift detection rate and a significant reduction in false alarms and missed detections compared to contemporary models. Hence, the results of the experimental study prove the accuracy and scalability of the PCDD model. © 2023 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

Intelligent Machine Learning Based Brain Tumor Segmentation through Multi-Layer Hybrid U-Net with CNN Feature Integration

Brain tumors are a pressing public health concern, characterized by their high mortality and morbidity ***, the manual segmentation of brain tumors remains a laborious and error-prone task, necessitatingthe development of more precise and efficient methodologies. To address this formidable challenge, we proposean advanced approach for segmenting brain tumorMagnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) images that harnesses theformidable capabilities of deep learning and convolutional neural networks (CNNs). While CNN-based methodshave displayed promise in the realm of brain tumor segmentation, the intricate nature of these tumors, markedby irregular shapes, varying sizes, uneven distribution, and limited available data, poses substantial obstacles toachieving accurate semantic segmentation. In our study, we introduce a pioneering Hybrid U-Net framework thatseamlessly integrates the U-Net and CNN architectures to surmount these challenges. Our proposed approachencompasses preprocessing steps that enhance image visualization, a customized layered U-Net model tailoredfor precise segmentation, and the inclusion of dropout layers to mitigate overfitting during the training ***, we leverage the CNN mechanism to exploit contextual information within brain tumorMRI images,resulting in a substantial enhancement in segmentation *** experimental results attest to the exceptionalperformance of our framework, with accuracy rates surpassing 97% across diverse datasets, showcasing therobustness and effectiveness of our approach. Furthermore, we conduct a comprehensive assessment of ourmethod’s capabilities by evaluating various performance measures, including the sensitivity, Jaccard-index, andspecificity.
