6DFLRNet: 6D rotation representation for head pose estimation based on facial landmarks and regression

Head pose estimation methods can be generally classified into two categories: model-based and appearance-based methods. The model-based approach relies on facial landmarks for three-dimensional reconstruction, aiming to achieve high-precision results. However, this method is heavily dependent on the accuracy of these landmarks. The appearance-based approach utilizes images as input and employs feature extraction and calculations to generate outcomes. While the appearance-based method boasts greater robustness, its accuracy falls short of the former. In this paper, a new and effective hybrid method is proposed. This hybrid approach combines the strengths of both methods. Unlike the conventional model-based methods, the proposed method regards the facial landmarks in 2D images as a sequence of neural network inputs and then obtains the head pose estimation results for users by neural network regression. The proposed method solves the fuzzy rotation labeling problem by using a rotation matrix representation, introducing a 6D rotation matrix representation as an intermediate state of the rotation matrix to achieve effective direct regression. Introducing face processing enhances the robustness of the model in cross-dataset scenarios. The proposed method achieves remarkable results based on imprecise face recognition and a simplistic model. The proposed method can be divided into three parts. First, the proposed method applies face processing on the input image;second, the method detects facial landmarks;and third, it converts these facial landmarks into sequences and obtains the 6D rotation representation of the head pose by regression. Extensive experiments on the publicly available BIWI, PRIMA, and DrivFace datasets show that this method is functional and performs better than other state-of-the-art methods. Smart agriculture in China still faces difficulties in the transformation of agricultural achievements by AI technology and the scattering of land. The current problems in smart agriculture are a serious shortage of talent, scattered data, a weak mass base, unfocused land and weak agricultural technology companies. To address the problems in the development of smart agriculture. Based on the earlier research, the hypothesis that AI technology plays a positive role in the development of smart agriculture. Combining case study and phenomenology of qualitative analysis theory, field observation, focus group discussion and in-depth interviews were used to conduct an in-depth qualitative analysis using the digital agriculture base as a typical smart agriculture construction. Artificial intelligence technology has been widely used in agricultural production, especially in the Digital Agriculture Base, and is an important part of the construction of smart agriculture. It has played a catalytic role in the development of the agricultural economy and the improvement of agricultural production efficiency. This paper explores the impact of AI technology on the development of smart agriculture, and the obstacles to implement AI technology into the construction of smart agriculture, with a view to propose strategies to sustainably promote the construction of smart agriculture. The results show that the hypothesis of AI technology has a positive effect on the construction of smart agriculture holds true. © 2023 The Authors.

Adopting distance learning with a high level of quality in universities and educational institutions is a real challenge. Therefore, several studies and organizations have provided different standards to evaluate the quality of long-distance and to measure the obstacles. This study examines the quality obstacles of the long-distance learning techniques applied at the faculty of information technology at the University of Benghazi, Libya. The British Quality Assurance Agency (BQAA) standards are utilized and presented as a questionnaire to the students at the faculty. The total participant number is 223 respondents. The study findings show that the students face severe challenges in all categories of the BQAA of technical, social, and organizational obstacles. The level of challenges is represented in the negativity of the response 69.1%, 60.1%, and 59.44% of the determined categories. © 2023 IEEE.

Bacterial strains in the same genus share highly similar morphology, gram-staining characteristics, colony sizes, and spatial arrangements. Therefore, identifying them by deep learning can be quite challenging. This study aimed to assess the classification of 7 species of bacteria from 2 genera of Bacillus and Vibrio by using 8 Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) models. We implemented Python programming along with Keras API within the Jupyter Notebook. The models were constructed and evaluated under unbalanced and balanced datasets by augmentation (rotation, flip, etc.). Transfer learning with fine-tuning, and pre-processing of mixup and label smoothing were also applied to reduce overfitting and enhance generalization. Based on the experimental results on private dataset, the results of InceptionResNetV2 emerged as the top-performing model with a notable accuracy of 82.8%, 88.6% precision, 78.4% recall, and 78.0% F1-score when label smoothing was applied at 0.5 on balanced dataset. © 2024 IEEE.

Wireless Capsule Endoscopy (WCE) emerged as an innovative and patient-centric approach for non-invasive and painless examination of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. It serves as a pivotal tool in helping medical practitioners in the early detection of anomalies within the intricate domain of the human GI tract. The automated identification of aberrations assumes paramount significance, contributing not only to temporal efficiency but also to timely diagnosis. Within the realm of academic literature, a plethora of Artificial Intelligence (AI) methodologies have been proposed to effectuate the automatic classification, segmentation, and synthesis of anomalies inherent in WCE images. This scholarly endeavor undertakes a comprehensive and meticulous survey, elucidating the spectrum of anomaly classification, summarization, and detection techniques harnessed for Computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) in the context of WCE images. The survey begins by delineating the methodologies underpinning WCE image classification and video processing. Subsequently, an exhaustive evaluation of techniques for analyzing WCE images is furnished, accompanied by an in-depth exploration of pertinent surveys, in addition to a judicious assessment of their merits and demerits. Furthermore, this study undertakes a rigorous evaluation of prevailing datasets utilized to benchmark the efficacy of various WCE techniques. Even for children, e-learning is essential today. Future generations will need to learn how to code. Because codes are complex, teaching them can be difficult. In this research, we present a model for teaching children programming. This study is an attempt to prove that teaching students to write code in Arab schools is feasible. The paper offers several insights and suggestions that would improve the mechanism of teaching young children to create code segments. Additionally, it highlights the significance of utilizing HCI to promote online education for children. © 2022 IEEE.

the design decisions made in the architecture of a software system are essential to its maintainability, and thus its quality is of great importance. Architecture smells (ASs) can be used to identify any quality issues within the system. To further explore the relationships between ASs, stability, and reusability, Spearman correlation coefficients will be calculated. This paper seeks to examine the connection between architecture smells, software stability, and reusability. To do this, we utilized a dataset created by other researchers and conducted an empirical study of the associations between five types of architecture smells and software stability and reusability. This research is necessary as there is a lack of in-depth research on architecture smells and their relationship to software stability and reusability. We found a relationship between the presence of Feature Concentration in package and the stability and reusability of the package. Also, package's stability is affected by both Cyclic Dependency and Unstable Dependency. A slight positive correlation has been found between God Class and stability, as well as a very weak negative correlation between Unstable Dependency and reusability. Finally, we found a slight negative correlation between package stability and reusability. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper is presented implementation of a lightweight supervisory control and data acquisition system for remote test stations as a part of a larger test house in the automotive industry. It is necessary to allow remote set up and monitoring of the test stations, which means defining the structure of a system with numerous test stations as endpoints. The test stations are meant to be virtual machines but can be both virtual and physical machines. A communication protocol must be used that enables this within the organization's network, regardless of actual distance and location. The parameters of the test stations to be monitored can be defined according to the needs and purpose. Even when creating your own tool, this function is not unique, i.e. on one test station parameters of operating system resources such as memory usage can be monitored, while on another test station logged-in users or running programs, reported system errors and others must be monitored. Data storage is one of the mandatory functions of this system. This process allows viewing data throughout history and more detailed analysis of events. There are numerous benefits that can be drawn and used from the data stored in the database. It is necessary to pay attention to the data stored as well as the scope and retention throughout history. The correct and secure setup of a database is one of the prerequisites for any serious system that processes data. Appropriate views should be created for users involved in the data monitoring process using all the elements mentioned so far. Creating a visually acceptable and easy-To-use interface that serves the main purpose is the final presentation of the entire system to users. A complete system leads to higher productivity, profitability and better organization of the company. It also allows project managers to better plan the use and occupancy of test stations.
