The notation and environment in conceptual modelling transform developers' initial perception about a system to a concrete model. Any usability constraints that the notation and environment impose on the modeling process affect not only the quality of the model but also the quality of the final product. This paper presents a usability profile for designing conceptual modelling methods that integrate graphical notation and formal mathematical notation. The profile was proposed based on a survey conducted on an instance of such methods, which combines the Unified Modelling Language (UML) and Event-B. The instruments used in the survey were the Cognitive Dimensions of Notations (CD) framework and several criteria suggested by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The analysis was conducted using the grounded theory approach. Thirteen participants responded to the survey. The survey suggests that graphical formal modelling requires deep understanding of the notations involved, strong support from the environment, well-organised models and high spatial ability. © 2009 IOS Press. The PSP-Expert Visualization Agent (EVA) is designed for software engineers specifically to introduce the agent-oriented concept, as well as to automate all the processes and fields involved in PSP. Currently, some developers of PSP automated tools include the agent's element in their system that focuses on sensor-based tracking of lines of code. However, none of them fully utilize this element for other purposes or provide the agent with a personal assistant for the software engineer. This sensor-based tracking is limited to Eclipse environments such as Java and is not compatible with the use of web platforms as a PSP automated tool. The PSP-EVA system is required to perform several tasks. There are three agents that exist within the system: Interface Agent (IA), TaskAgent (TA), and SearchAgent (SA). By incorporating the multi-software agent in this automation system, PSP-EVA is able to have ready-access to applications and also to provide a visual representation of performance to the user. Additionally, evaluation of software engineers and team performance can be easily derived and evaluated statistically.

An important issue faced today in any on-line system is to determine the userspsila states of emotions regarding the situation. It is possible to identify userpsilas emotions while interacting face to face by observing their conditions, and assign a suitable level of tasks to the user. But it is very much difficult to identify the userpsilas state of emotion when he or she is not in front of teacher when communicating is in progress. Kansei engineering is used in this research, to achieve a solution to this problem. Learnerpsilas knowledge level of the lesson and emotional level are considered as key parameters to measure the status of the learner. These measurements are used as key points to enhance the experience of the learner, who is interacting with the E-Learning system. The E-Learning system supports in customized ways to the learner, to improve knowledge and manage emotions effectively.

Learning Object (LO) is one of the main research topics in the E-Learning community in the recent years, and most researchers pay attention to the issue of Learning Object Reusability. The most obvious motivation is the economic interest of reusing learning material instead of repeatedly authoring it. Reusability requires the LO to be in a fine-grain form because raw media elements are often much easier to reuse than aggregate assemblies. In other words, as the LO size decreases (lower granularity), its potential for reuse increases. Therefore, when designing learning objects, reusability must be considered as a key consideration. This paper shows how we adapted and applied some of the metrics from the software engineering field for the purpose of measuring reusability of learning objects.

One of the new directions in current e-government development is to provide personalized online services to citizens and businesses. Recommendation techniques can bring a possible solution for this issue. This study proposes a hybrid recommendation approach to provide personalized government to business (G2B) e-services. The approach integrates fuzzy sets-based semantic similarity and traditional item-based collaborative filtering methods to improve recommendation accuracy. A recommender system named Intelligent Business Partner Locator (IBPL) is designed to apply the proposed recommendation approach for supporting government agencies to recommend business partners.

One of the most important Web-based services that established the foundations of the Web 2.0 is the weblog. Weblogs are evolving to be topic based systems that can lead to more revenue for companies. Therefore many companies provide free weblog hosting. Weblog popularity is an effective factor to gain more revenue. Weblogs have posts and topics that are arranged chronologically with the most recent post first. Some weblogs have so many posts that it makes finding a specific post very difficult. On the other hand irrelevant ordering of the posts makes it worse. Weblogs that do not have the posts in a proper order may result in decreasing the popularity of weblogs. Our experiments on Farsi weblogs have shown that many viewers close weblog windows before they are completely loaded in their Web browsers. This is due to a large number of posts on the weblogs. Adaptive filtering of the posts on the weblogs can provide the readers with information that interests them. This paper introduces a new approach for filtering and reordering weblog posts based on user's browsing history. Our experimental results show that our filtering approach can improve weblog popularity and increases the number of weblog viewers. Multiview video coding is one of the key technologies in 3D video applications. However, considerable computational complexity is existed in multiview video encoding. In this paper, we propose a fast macroblock mode selection and disparity estimation algorithm. Firstly, the proposed algorithm terminates early the modes search process according to the correlation of modes in the corresponding locations of reference views. Compared with the full search method, the proposed strategy can avoid searching some unnecessary modes. Secondly, the disparity prediction is adjusted by the temporal correlation of disparity vectors. A small search range is used for disparity estimation. Finally, experimental results show that 67.42% ~ 90.06% encoding time can be saved by the proposed algorithm with an average of 0.05dB PSNR degradation compared with JMVM7.0.

software testing is one of the most important techniques used to assure the quality of Web Services at present. Test-data generation is an important topic in Web Services testing. The quality of test data will influence the efficiency and cost when testing Web Services. Based on the contract-based mutation testing technique, this paper presents a method of automated test-data generation for Web Services. First, according to the description information and contracts in WSDL documents of Web Services, initial test data are generated automatically by the random method. Then the test data are selected using contract mutation testing. This method can generate a test suite meeting a certain contract mutation score, which indicates the quality and efficiency of testing. Finally, we have developed a prototype on the *** platform, and carried out some experiments. The results have shown that the proposed method is effective in automated test-data generation for Web Services.

Routing in wireless mesh networks presents a great challenge due to unreliable wireless links and collisions. Recently, a new routing method, opportunistic routing (OR), is proposed to deal with them by exploiting broadcast nature of wireless networks. OR relies on the global knowledge of networks to select relays and determine priorities. In this paper, we propose a new routing scheme, OxDSR, which combines OR and dynamic source routing (DSR) and performs opportunistic transmissions with the help of the local information and the traditional route obtained by DSR. By taking the duplicates and additional wireless resource consumed by multiple ACK frames into consideration, we propose a new metric, equivalent data rate, to select and prioritize relays. Extensive simulation study shows that the proposed OxDSR is more resilient and achieves higher throughput than DSR based on the expected transmission count routing metric.
