Modern project management is a well-understood discipline that can produce predictable, repeatable results. The methodologies of modern project management are highly analytic, usually requiring automated tools to support them on large projects. Like most other disciplines, it is learned through both practice and study. Project management encompasses many different skills, such as understanding the interdependencies among people, technologies, budgets, and expectations; planning the project to maximize productivity; motivating others to execute the plan; analyzing the actual results; and reworking and tuning the plan to deal with the realities of what really happens as the project is executed. In order to manage a project and bring it to a successful completion, its project manager must have a complete understanding of the methodologies being used for the management of different parts of the project. Managers prefer specific project methodology, while resist and face difficulties for an opportunity to manage another project with different methodology as they don’t know how much commonality exists between the preferred and the new required methodology.

Most work on multi-biometric fusion is based on static fusion rules which cannot respond to the changes of the environment and the individual users. This paper proposes adaptive multi-biometric fusion, which dynamically adjusts the fusion rules to suit the real-time external conditions. As a typical example, the adaptive fusion of gait and face in video is studied. Two factors that may affect the relationship between gait and face in the fusion are considered, i.e., the view angle and the subject-to-camera distance. Together they determine the way gait and face are fused at an arbitrary time. Experimental results show that the adaptive fusion performs significantly better than not only single biometric traits, but also those widely adopted static fusion rules including SUM, PRODUCT, MIN, and MAX.

Nowadays, the growth of internet has been accompanied by the growth of web services (e.g e-government, e-health, e-commerce). Web services collect data, especially individuals, from users and use them for various purposes. Sometimes, web services need to release the data they own to third parties. Because privacy is an important concern in web services, there are several research efforts have been devoted to address issues related to the development of privacy-preserving data management techniques. In [3], Agrawal et. al. has introduced Hippocratic Database incorporating privacy protection in relational database systems. In this paper, we’ll proposed the use of Hippocratic Database to ensure the privacy in web services. We use a scenario for driving license renewal by Road Transport Department in order to illustrate this.

Characteristics in the user model can be acquired and maintained in several ways, namely by means of implicit or explicit feedback, observation of user's actions, log analysis, etc. We use analysis of the content that is presented to a user. We assume that comparing documents and analyzing their common and different aspects can lead to information about user's interests. We work in the Semantic Web environment where ontologies are used as a mean for content representation. We proposed a recursive method to evaluate similarity of ontological concepts. But computed similarities do not take into account user's individuality, i.e. the same results are computed for each user. User's perception of the similarity measure is subjective. Therefore, we extend the method to compute similarity with regard to the user.

Behavior is increasingly recognized as a key component in business intelligence and problem-solving. Different from traditional behavior analysis, which mainly focus on implicit behavior and explicit business appearance as a result of business usage and customer demographics, this paper proposes the field of Behavior Informatics and Analytics (BIA), to support explicit behavior involvement through a conversion from transactional data to behavioral data, and further genuine analysis of native behavior patterns and impacts. BIA consists of key components including behavior modeling and representation, behavioral data construction, behavior impact modeling, behavior pattern analysis, and behavior presentation. BIA can greatly complement the existing means for combined, more informative and social patterns and solutions for critical problem-solving in areas such as dealing with customer-officer interaction, counter-terrorism and monitoring online communities.

In deploying data mining into the real-world business, we have to cater for business scenarios, organizational factors, user preferences and business needs. However, the current data mining algorithms and tools often stop at the delivery of patterns satisfying expected technical interestingness. Business people are not informed about how and what to do to take over the technical deliverables. The gap between academia and business has seriously affected the widespread employment of advanced data mining techniques in greatly promoting enterprise operational quality and productivity. To narrow down the gap, cater for realworld factors relevant to data mining, and make data mining workable in supporting decision-making actions in the real world, we propose the methodology of domain driven data mining (D 3 M for short). D 3 M aims to construct next-generation methodologies, techniques and tools for a possible paradigm shift from data-centered hidden pattern mining to domain-driven actionable knowledge delivery. In this talk, we address the concept map of D 3 M, theoretical underpinnings, several general and flexible frameworks, research issues, possible directions, application areas etc. related to D 3 M. Real-world case studies in financial data mining and social security mining are demonstrated to show the effectiveness and applicability of D 3 M in both research and development of real-world challenging problems.

In this paper we present a novel real time algorithm to sequentially solve a class of multi-view geometry problems. The triangulation problem is considered as study case. The problem concerns with the estimation of 3D point coordinates given its images as well as the matrices of the concern cameras used in the imaging process. The algorithm has direct application to real time systems like virtual reality, visual SLAM, and visual servoing. Application to visual servoing is considered in detail. Experiments have been carried out for the general triangulation problem as well as the application to visual servoing.

The mobile communication market has grown rapidly over the past 10 years, but the market may reach saturation in the foreseeable future. More flexible mobile networks able to meet various user demands and create new market openings are needed for further growth. Heterogeneous networks are more suitable than homogeneous networks for meeting a wide variety of user demands. There are two types of heterogeneous network: a closed-type whose network resources are deployed and operated by communication carriers, and an open-type whose network resources would be deployed not only by existing operators but also by companies, universities and so on. It will be easy for newcomers to enter mobile businesses in an open heterogeneous mobile network, so many innovative services are likely to be provided through cooperation between various companies or organizations. This paper proposes revised architectures for TISPAN-NGN which corresponds to heterogeneous networks and open mobile markets, and presents new business models.

The visions of semantic Web services have recently attracted wide attention from both academia and industry. Several semantic description frameworks have been proposed to describe the semantic Web services. However, these approaches are weak in annotating and searching the semantic information in using general ontology. In this paper, we propose an approach of constructing service-oriented ontology system (SOOS) and implement SOOS. The SOOS on the basis of the service-centered idea is designed for providing all of the required semantic information in each stage of software development based on semantic Web services and enhancing the efficiency in annotating and discovering semantic Web services. And we give a case study Onto4T for representing the application of SOOS.

This paper presents a new design to manage transaction and replication for distributed systems. First, we recall the binary vote assignment grid (BVAG) model that imposes neighbours binary vote assignment to its logical grid structure on replicated data copies. Based on this model, we extend our work to design the distributed transaction semantic in order to manage BVAG transaction both in normal and failure cases. We present an implementation of the system. The proposed distributed transaction semantic shows that the system preserves the data consistency and support advance fault-tolerant through synchronization approach.
