Aside from business processes, the service-oriented approach-currently realized with Web services and BPEL-should be utilizable for data-intensive applications as well. Fundamentally, data-intensive applications are characterized by (i) a sequence of functional operations processing large amounts of data and (ii) the delivery and transformation of huge data sets between those functional activities. However, for the efficient handling of massive data sets, a significant amount of data infrastructure is required and the predefined 'by value' data semantic within the invocation of Web services and BPEL is not well suited for this context. To tackle this problem on the BPEL level, we developed a seamless extension to BPEL-the 'BPEL data transitions'.

In our daily life, we may often see various natural phenomena of fluid mixtures, like pouring honey/ink into water, Coca Cola into strong wine etc. In fluid simulation, since fluids can not hold the shear stress, their shapes usually vary drastically in their dynamics. Interaction among multiple fluids in different features becomes even more difficult. Since the late 90s of the last century, graphics researchers have simulated lots of natural effects on fluid simulation for animating such as smoke, fire or water. However, little attention has been paid to demonstrating the effect of fluid mixtures. In the fluid mixture simulation, interactions among fluid mixtures in different kinds would generate comprehensive behavior. To investigate the interaction behavior in physically-based simulation of the fluids, it is of importance to build physically correct models to represent the varying interactions among the fluid mixtures. In this talk, stress will be put on the physically based simulation of fluid mixtures, in particular the mixture in two fluids, or binary mixtures. We will introduce the fundamental principle of the physics in the fluid mixture phenomena, and then the primary solutions to the simulation. The approaches we have proposed for the solution to the fluid mixture simulation will be introduced in detail, with various simulation results to be demonstrated. In some of the methods, advantage is taken with the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) to achieve real-time computation for the simulation. Roughly in terms of the miscibility of binary mixtures, the fluid mixture can be categorized into immiscible mixtures such as bubbles in liquid or oil in water, and miscible mixtures such as honey dissolving in water. The decentralized and anonymous characteristics of P2P environments make the task of controlling access to sharing information more difficult. In this paper, we identify access control requirements and propose a trust based access control framework for P2P file-sharing systems. The authors have been studying psychophysiological workload of human interface (HI) with physiological measurements and analysis. In this study, we investigated a kind of mental workload produced by user's unexpected waiting period from the request input to the termination of data processing during personal computer (PC) operation. As the experimental setting of HI, we used interactive software containing easy questions with unexpected time interval between each question. The effects of progress indicator (PI) indicating during waiting period on psychophysiological status of users were analyzed by using respiration, finger plethysmogram (PTG), heart rate (HR) and electroencephalogram (EEG) measurements. Results showed that the theta wave component of the EEG increased in the non-PI condition, even though autonomic nervous system parameters showed no significant change. Negative correlation between preference score for HI and integrated theta component percentage was observed only in non-PI condition. It is supposed that the PI was controlling theta activity coused by waiting stress in experimental condition. Utilizing physiological indices for HI assessment, this experimental method could be available to waiting stress estimation.

In grid economy architecture the fixed prices of resources will cause a problem whereby the profit to the providers will be significantly reduced, additionally, this will cause the reduction of the success ratio of tasks accomplishment. This paper presents a new kind of pricing fluctuation module called Resources Pricing Fluctuation Manager (RPFM), as part of GRACE architecture. It also presents the detailed inner architecture and makes a discussion of each part of RPFM. At the end, the paper shows the significance of the RPFM module through simulating experiment.

Modern technologies have brought many innovations into the system of education. Learners now have an opportunity to educate with the help of electronic materials often provided by web-based infrastructures. Although the majority of learners - especially children or teenagers - find studying from such materials less exciting than playing today's popular computer games that, however, lack signs of education. In this paper, we describe an innovative concept of three-dimensional interactive educational games that combine the excitement and looks of popular computer games with the educational potential of electronic study materials. One of the key issues is adaptability (games are also playable by handicapped users) and adaptivity according to learners' level of knowledge. Together with automatic generation of educational games based on metadata provided by authors of educational materials, we enable the creation of educational games that have many shapes reflecting learners' needs.

Existing multimedia information retrieval systems provide users with insufficient support for efficient searching for and browsing in multimedia content. Several possible solutions were proposed, such as using faceted metadata search or semantic clusters of search results. We describe the possibilities of using enhanced faceted navigation with support for personalization, collaboration and Semantic Web technologies for multimedia information retrieval. Furthermore, we propose a method of faceted browser adaptation with support for dynamic facet generation based on an automatically acquired user model.
