The Eleman Neural Network has been widely used in various fields ranging from temporal version of the Exclusive-OR function to the discovery of syntactic categories in natural language date. However, one of the problems often associated with this type of network is the local minima problem which usually occurs in the process of the learning. To solve this problem, we have proposed an error function which can harmonize the update weights connected to the hidden layer and those connected to the output layer by adding one term to the conventional error function. It can avoid the local minima problem caused by this disharmony. We applied this method to the Boolean Series Prediction Questions problems to demonstrate its validity. The result shows that the proposed method can avoid the local minima problem and largely accelerate the speed of the convergence and get good results for the prediction tasks. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2007.

A novel Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) based Hidden Markov Module (HMM) for face recognition is presented in this letter. To improve the accuracy of HMM based face recognition algorithm, DWT is used to replace Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) for observation sequence ex- traction. Extensive experiments are conducted on two public databases and the results show that the proposed method can improve the accuracy significantly, especially when the face database is large and only few training images are available.

Web service composition provision which requires efficient coordination of the execution of component services is a critical issue in service-oriented computing. Nowadays, BPEL4WS, the de facto industry standard for service compositions, is predominantly deployed in a way in which all interactions and intermediate data must go through one server. This centralised management results in problems such as poor performance, impaired reliability, limited scalability, and restricted flexibility. To address these problems, this research proposes an agent-based decentralised process management framework for Web service composition. This framework allows distributed BPEL engines, each of which is represented by a software agent, to manage the execution of relevant sub-processes, and to interact with one another directly to coordinate the execution of the whole process. Such a framework naturally reflects the distributed and dynamic features of the Web services environment and subsequently offers improved coordination support for service composition provision.

Grid computing allows the utilization of vast computational resources for solving complex scientific and engineering problems. However, development tools for grid applications are not as mature as their traditional counterparts, especially in the area of debugging and testing. Debugging grid applications typically requires a programmer to address non-trivial issues such as heterogeneity, job scheduling, hierarchical resources, and security. This paper presents the design and implementation of a grid service debug architecture that is compliant with the Web Service Resource Framework standard. The debugger provides a library with a set of well-defined debug APIs.

With the proliferation of grid computing, a large number of computational resources are available for solving complex scientific and engineering problems. Nevertheless, it is non-trivial to write, deploy, and test grid applications over heterogeneous and distributed resources. Further complicating matters, programmers may need to manually manage variations in source code due to resource heterogeneity. This paper presents an implementation of an integrated grid development environment that leverages IBM's Eclipse IDE and our application development framework, Worqbench. It provides novel tools to develop and debug grid software. It regards resources as first-class objects in the IDE and allows tight integration between the test beds and the code development process. We discuss how the environment assists programmers in developing grid applications.

We present a novel mobile memory aid tool, called ClickCatalog System ().In our daily lives, we find many interesting items during shopping, in exposition events, or in *** often try to remember them for later recall by writing memos, taking pictures, etc Those hints (notes and pictures) are, however, easy to be *** ClickCatalog System, users can collect digital records of the items with an easy-to-handle hardware called @ reader, which embeds an RFID *** a day, they can recall the stored records using a viewer *** viewer can be operated using the same device, @ reader, by manipulating it on a paper calendar (to recall the records temporarily) or on a paper map (to do so geographically).This paper shows the prototype implementation of ClickCatalog System, a range of applications, and, our empirical study using prototype ClickCatalog System.

This paper studies the delay-dependent robust stability for time-delay systems with nonlinear perturbations. A new method is proposed to estimate the upper bound of the derivative of Lyapunov functional without ignoring some useful terms. Improved delay-dependent stability criteria are established by taking into account the range for the time-delay. In addition, augmented Lyapunov functionals are introduced to derive less conservative delay-dependent stability conditions. Finally, numerical examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness and the merits of the proposed method. © 2007 EUCA.

The research and development results of agent technology are awaited as the software solution with autonomy and social ability, which can provide the way to realize social activities on the Internet. However, the current status of the agent research is that research is for a specific application domain and is not so much generalized, and it is hard to apply the framework of the existing research to other fields. Moreover, it is thought that practical usage of agent is in immature state that there are few practical application examples and the system development methodology is not sufficient. In this research, the problem solving system by the multi-agents is first shown as an application development framework by the agents. Then, we present usage of templates of the agent model and the task model as the development support technique. And the evaluation according to an application construction experiment in the field of remote product management is discussed.

Artificial neural networks are intended to be used in emerging technologies as information processing systems because their biological equivalents seem to be tolerant to internal failures of computational elements. In this paper, we introduce a measurement which can identify significant neurons of the local cluster neural network and can be used to increase the fault tolerance of this network architecture. Furthermore, it show that this technique can control the network's complexity. Moreover, by this quality different parameter sets of the network and training techniques can be judged with respect to their fault tolerant properties.

Most of the current trust models in peer-to-peer (P2P) systems are identity based, which means that in order for one peer to trust another, it needs to know the other peer's identity. Hence, there exists an inherent tradeoff between trust and anonymity. To the best of our knowledge, there is currently no P2P protocol that provides complete mutual anonymity as well as authentication and trust management. We propose a zero-knowledge authentication scheme called Pseudo Trust (PT), where each peer, instead of using its real identity, generates an unforgeable and verifiable pseudonym using a one-way hash function. A novel authentication scheme based on Zero-Knowledge Proof is designed so peers can be authenticated without leaking any sensitive information. With the help of PT, most existing identity-based trust management schemes become applicable in mutual anonymous P2P systems. We analyze the levels of security and anonymity in PT, and evaluate its performance using trace-driven simulations and a prototype implementation. The strengths of Pseudo Trust include the lack of need for a centralized trusted party or CA, high scalability and security, low traffic and cryptography processing overheads, and man-in-middle attack resistance. We aim for the Pseudo Trust design to be included in the P2P trust and anonymity context. © 2007 IEEE.
